Boats are awful

Live had 2 boats and it was still awful.

Anytime Live had issues with boats failing, they'd put up translocator npcs.

Can't wait to log into a low pop retro server to sit on a dock for 45 minutes to get into a zone.

Boats are great. There's nothing funnier than someone jumping down from sky and having them get zoned into OoT because the boat happened to be there at the exact moment they hit the water.

This happened to me on Live on my first character on the first day. Lost my awesome Scarab helm. Shit's classic af. I would say bump it up to 85% tbh

I fully support both ideas. I love taking the boat but the wait on the BB/FP boat can be brutal.

Taking the boat makes you appreciate the platinum you didn't give to Dial-A-Whatever.

Entertain yourself until you get your toon on the boat, and then go AFK for a few. Bathroom break. Food break. Stretch break. Take the dog out break. Come back and you've arrived.

Also true. On P99 the boat from BB to FP correctly moves from east to west. On live the same boat went west to east.

Didn't OOT get redone on live? Was it rolled back to the original one?

OOT is redone and instanced and the boats were reskinned and go really fast, but they didn't change the routes from what I could tell. The zone's still mostly water.

They go about the right speed (15 min one-way, 30 min round trip), but with two you only have to wait 15 min max at the docks instead of the current half hour.

Trains very often can move you much faster than boats.

Yea, some people still take the boats, if for no other reason to get into the OOT. Others don't feel they have the plat for a good DaP tip, because they are new and not twinked, and others are stubborn, and some just want to do it and get a joy of shouting "BOAT" when it comes in.

Yes, they are slow, and doubling the number of boats would be great. And yes, they must be hard to program in Sony/Verant/Dayspring doesn't want to program them, I can imagine our extremely talented volunteers aren't terribly interested in it, either.

It was a good couple of hours for me to reach my destination, actually. I went from Cabilis all the way to FV, took that boat, waited at the docks in BB, ran through EC on my way to NRo, and then got on the barge to Velious. Went LD on Icebreaker at -18000 (East/West) in Iceclad and had to swim all the way to the SW island, then ran all the way through to WL to get my WL tooth. Finally, I parked at the Kael ZL so I could go to the open Kael raid.

Good exercise. :D

Perhaps my memory is fuzzy, but on Live, weren't the boats considered named mobs? I remember my bard practicing his begging and intimidation skills with various results. A successful intimidation caused it to stall momentarily. But on Project 99, I seem not to be able to click anywhere on a boat to "target" it. It seems to be an object that is programmed to move in a certain pattern. *shrugs*

I agree but they should be items quested not spawnable. It wouldnt be EQ if you didnt have to run all over the world for a want that only had 5 charges on it to summon boats.
