View Full Version : Best way to get Freeport Bank faction?

Title says it all.

Like an idiot, I turned in a ton of Deathfist Slashed Belts without realizing that makes me even more KOS to the Guards around the bank in North Freeport. But I suppose I do need positive faction with the guards in West Freeport to even get to the bank, so, there's that.

If you don't want to do faction you can invis to the bank, scroll your camera out and bank around the corner. Careful if anyone opens the door. Usually this is only done by higher level players but I've seen experienced lowbies do it before.

Is this also going to make me liked by the guards in that area?

As stated above you don't need faction at all to safely bank, you just need to be able to invis there

Alternatively, if you catch anyone killing sir lucan, you can tag him for giant amounts of faction to get non kos to north freeport guards pretty easily (it tanks ur wfp faction though)

So, if I go ahead and do this....

As long as I'm dubious with the merchants, I should be dubious with the bankers, I should be able to sneak and bank, right?

SO, you're KoS with the NFP paladins?

Step 1: kill 2000 deathfist orcs (good spot: WC orcs on the way to Kithicor from EC)
Step 2: Learn to bank around the wall in Freeport (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk3xjo1wE-8)

Alternative: Do Rebby's Rat Whiskers (http://wiki.project1999.com/Rebby's_Rat_Whiskers) until you are dubious to bankers (the bankers WILL be scowls and attack you, unlike merchants who never go below dubious...but you can also bank while they're trying to kill you, so there's that.)

After that you only need to watch out for the bard guild (Fixed via Fabian's Strings) and the caster guild. (Fix this too with this quest (http://wiki.project1999.com/Rat_Ear_Pie_Quest) (turn in regular rat ears) - warning, lowers Freeport Militia! Not as much as it raises the caster guild, but take care how many rat ears you turn in.)

A DE Necro can do the Janam and Rebby quest set enough times from levels 1 to 4 to raise faction with the freeport Militia to Apprehensive and the merchants to barely Indifferent. The North Freeport bankers are on the same Merchant faction. The guards in North Freeport will want you dead but the bankers are fine. You can stroll in and bank around the wall as mentioned, or you can just enter with Invis (if you have it) and bank behind the counter with the one guard inside LoS'd by a window frame.

The problem with any of this is when asshat noob Iksar Monks think they can just flop in safely to bank and make all the NPC's move around while they're busy screwing it up. People with bad guard faction end up dying and it's not like Monks ever shell out the plat for rezzes to pay for their mistakes.

If you turned in a bunch of belts and are non-kos in WFP/EFP you can go to the tavern in EFP and turn in 2gp to the bard in there. That will raise your Paladin and Bard faction in NFP with no negative faction hit (iirc). It's sort of a pain to do because you have to hand in 2gp at a time but it's a nice option for raising that bard faction to allow more free access to NFP.

As an Iksar I turned in about 70-80 belts with wolf form which got me non-kos in WFP. I then saw someone killing Lucan and tagged him which put me back to KOS with militia guards but non-KOS (apprehensive) to NFP guards. I then got a druid guildy to pull that bard in EFP to zoneline and I turned in 70p 2gp at a time to that bard with sneak which took me to amiable with NFP guards and apprehensive with Antonican Bards. If you do the bard turn in thing before tagging Lucan you could avoid having to get wolf form or using other trickery.

End result is:

NFP guards: amiable
NFP bards: apprehensive
merchants in NFP/WC/EC: dubious
bankers: KOS - can bank through wall with 3rd person camera
WFP/EFP militia guards: KOS

Using the sewer entrance in WFP to NFP I can run freely into NFP and use the bank through the wall.

Success! I'm no longer KOS with any of the guards in Freeport.

It only took me 45 minutes of turning in 2 gold pieces...

I'm KOS with the bankers but I can just stand behind the wall and turn my camera with no issues.

Thank you guys!

Is there anything else you would recommend to help that won't lower my faction with the militia or knights of truth?

You're a monk, right? Kill orcs to reach dubious with Ashen Order (monk guild) and you can train there. :) (This raises several 'good' factions and lowers Orc faction.)

Okay, cool. I read it'll take about 1,000 orcs to get me to dubious with the ashen order. Is that right?

I feel like I got to dubious in Kelethin with about 6 levels of killing crushbone orcs, so.

Took me around 600 orcs on p99.
