My level 10 dwarf was unpleasantly surprised to have Sandgiant Husam turn around and try to destroy him after a successful pick pocket.
Is this how it is supposed to work?
Sneak pulling also feels different than it did last time I played p99. Have there been nerfs?

it breaks hide which will drop your sneak, but it does not break your sneak if you are not hiding.
Simply stop hiding and be behind your target to stay sneaking after the pickpocket.

Thank you!
Regarding sneak pull ; why am I getting aggro on all mobs when, for example, all three orcs have their back to me, sneak is successful, and I range tag?

If the mob you're pulling paths in front of mobs it's social with, the ones that see it will assist.
Imagine mobs in a line like this facing North.
Orc A
Orc B
Orc C
You can sneak pull C. Sneaking B will agro C. Sneaking A isn't very sneaky.
If you get hit while sneak pulling, the sneak will break and you or mob being in proxy range can also get you adds.
I prefer bows for extra range.

Only sneak and shoot. Move away still sneaking and fight solo.

Try to pull away from their vision. Sometimes if they are side by side they can still see each other in that frontal 180 degree arc
