First studio album in 8 years, two singles have already been released:

- Hardwired

IMO a solid opening track, I liked the simple riffs, clean vocals and the 3:18 length. It's obvious they are trying to find that magic they had in the 80s (been trying since Death Magnetic at least imo) and this track sounds like the closest they ever got.

- Moth into Flame

Disappointed. Sounds like a bunch of riffs glued together, with no actual musical idea behind the song. Everything is cleanly executed, of course, but that doesn't make it good music. Sounded a lot like an average Death Magnetic to me.

All in all, I'm not expecting a new Ride the Lightning or even a Black Album - you don't step in the same river twice - but I'm hoping for one or two really good tracks out of this double album.

The music videos for both songs were boring but who cares. Watching Lars sticking his tongue out while displaying mediocre drumming gets old quick anyway.

Now if they could just swap Lars with Dave Lombardo omg.

When Cliff died, Metallica died. Just glad they the sense to boot Dave, but Kirk left Exodus for them.

All my friends listened to metal and Metallica especially and I tried so hard to enjoy it up thru middle school. took me a long time to realize Metallica sucks (and is comprised of disgusting unamerican turds btw). If you were alive in the 90s and you are here hyping Metallica, not only do you have awful taste but your a f*ggot.

I will always love the first 3 metallica albums. But after that, the angst was gone. Now its just old dudes trying hard to be angry. Its over metallica.

Cliff died in the mid 80's - Black Album came out in early 90's - That alone invalidates your arguement.

Jason Newsted was a fine bass player and Kirk Hammet is the FKing king in my eyes. I don't agree with Metallica politically, particularly Larz McFGT, but Metallica will always been one of my favorite bands and they are far from dead

I like Metallica ^^ but I do t know who any of the members are or that one was dead or another left. As long as the singer still there I think that is most important a kinda a new band if you get a new singer. Like Nightwish when Tarja departed :c Anette was ok, but band had a whole different sound without the operatic soprano vocals.

I like Moth into flame. Hardwire not so much.

Still good, sounds a lot like Death Magnetic to me. Death Magnetic was a s step up compared to St Anger and Reload, so i guess i can be happy they're not going back to that at least.

Sounds pretty cool in live too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBHSvxG-F_k

Hardwire with classic tones: (someone replayed the guitar and bass + programmed drums and made them sound like the first 5 albums)

Yeah, wtf happened to the tones? They were great up until and including the black album, and deteriorated gradually ever since.

I dunno who to blame so I'm just gonna blame it on Lars.

Haven't heard yet but willing to bet the programmed drums sound better than the original.

I imagine if I searched through your post history I'd find more idiocy like this, thanks for the laugh.

also prove Metallica has any track better than one by Spineshank

That was easy.

I asked myself, "Self, what is Spineshank?" I went to the Youtubes and found these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-TO-L1Escc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NbkxcNjH9w

The first video made me wonder, where have I heard this before, angry young boys trying to sound tough? Then I heard the second video and thought, "Aha! This is a louder version of Linkin Park, which also sucks."

To answer your question, the entirety of Metallica's Ride the Lightning is better than at least these two pieces of crap by Spineshank. And yes, that includes the song Escape, by far the worst song on RtL.

Jeez, count the number of times the word "I" is used in both of these Spineshank songs - that's navel-gazing crap, that's not metal. Where are the themes of war, death, pestilence and horror that makes metal, metal?

------------

That being said, anything Metallica made after the black album is crap, and their best stuff ended at ..And Justice for All, which still had some residual Cliff Burton influence on it.

Got u to listen to at least 2 Spineshank songs AND write all this on ur Friday night with just 2 sentences typed one handed while furiously urinating out port wine

Typical Metallica fan

Metallica is a band that created a lot of Ascended music.

To each their own, but gottuh get mine...

Tesla talked about a resonating frequency that each [Noun] has... Playing Metallica songs live can distribute atmospheric energy. In my case, it's frequency matched my own.

I don't particurlarly like a lot of the "Garage Days" nor St.Anger(?) on... everything else is spot the fukc on...

thanks for not reading... peace.

Lars is literally one of the most hated drummers in existence. Because he is a douche. I wish I could punch him.

This is literally the second post of yours i read today that I have to agree with. Never thought I'd say that. Anyway Lars is a douche, I think we all agree on that (including himself).

But most of all, he's an absolutely terrible drummer. I don't know how much of actual songwriting he does / did. Maybe he actually is a good song writer, and/or drum composer, but as far as performing heavy metal on a drum set, it's painful to watch as far as I'm concerned.

But let's not mix songwriting and performing.

James was a terrible singer up until a few years ago when he obviously started taking singing lessons. Early 2000s? Something like that. Before that, he literally couldn't sing shit live.

Kirk was and still is, IMHO, a pretty average guitar player. Remove the wah pedal and there's nothing there. Live, he only gets by through the choruses with a massive use of wah, and the fact that the amps are so loud that noone can actually hear distinct notes. I'm not even sure he knows what is a major 7th chord or what intonation is.

Robert obviously is a real musician but for understandable reasons is out of the scope of this post.

YET, while being pretty amateur musicians at best, these fine folks managed to compose some of the best songs of the heavy metal repertoire of the 80s and the 90s, influenced half the world, and became superstars.

Anyway, yeah. Screw Lars.

Black album is awesome imo.

Everything after it was utter shit though, with Death Magnetic being a little less shit (but still shit).

I'm still not sure which one of Load, Reload or St Anger was the worst. Probably gonna have to go with St Anger as the other two have at least one half decent song each.

St Anger has literally not a single good song.
