In days gone by, the ways of old
The dungeon dark made blood run cold.
In days of old, where arrows fly
For gold, for glory! we all shall die.

We walk the long forgotten roads.
In cool, starlit plains a fastened cloak
A blade, a shield, strong arm to wield!
The muttered magic of a Master Seer.

http://i.imgur.com/L1dRFol.jpg

From the dust, from the bones
We Quest our weapons to best our foes,
And when the dark becomes to great
A shared song is all it takes…

In days gone by, the ways of old
The dungeon dark made blood run cold.
In days of old, our arrows fly
For gold, for glory! We all shall die!

Who We Are:

<Auld Lang Syne> is a hardcore levelling/progression guild seeking to recapture the experience of classic. Project1999 offers a great base for a player to experience all the content they knew from childhood, or fell in love with here. However, as the server has been up for seven years, there is a gulf between what the average p99 player expects to have for equipment and what they would have available to them at that level. Through mutual observance of a restrictive guild charter, the adventurers of <Auld Lang Syne> experience great content, quests, and gear that has long been thought to be obsolete!

What We Believe In:

We of <Auld Lang Syne> believe that the levelling experience of Everquest is one of the best parts of the game. We are interested in the journey, not the destination. As such, we allow ourselves to be challenged by working within the confines of what our characters, guild groups, and miniature raids are capable of achieving and acquiring. Some of us are veteran players and some are new, but we are all alike in our dream of enjoying the best content that Norrath has to offer. We believe in the spirit of adventure, challenge, and comradery.

What It Means:

Members of <Auld Lang Syne> do not participate in the mudflation economy of project 1999. Platinum is earned from mobs and used only within guild* and vendor trading. This restricts us from easy access to overpowered items (a Green Jade Broadsword, for instance, can be acquired after an hour or two of wisp hunting!) While there is nothing wrong with purchasing weapons and armor from higher level players, twinking, or paying for PL services (this is what Classic is all about for many), the members of <Auld Lang Syne> are not interested in the expressway to level 60.

For many Auldtimers, our first step towards glory and fortune is purchasing a Combine Weapon to kill willowisps. Our main warrior fought with Langseax, and now proudly wields Obsidian Shards.

*Some allowances for services such as teleportation are made.

Our Goals:
*Supporting our guild members (hunting together, helping with quests, emotional support when you lose a level of exp)
*Being a positive influence to p99 Community
*Gearing ourselves by completing quests, killing monsters, and advancing trade skills
*Having a good time with cool and normal friends

How does this guild deal with Iksars? Kunark items are more powerful than oldworld. Is the guild restricted to velious?

If I understand our guild chatter correctly, we will be opening Kunark for our guild later this month (October). No guarantees, though. :)

From the guild charter: "Crafted trade skill items are not subject to a level restriction."

Please read the Guild Charter (https://goo.gl/e0Sfh8) to see if you might be interested.

A few tips from me.

1. Accept the struggle, relish in the difficulty, JOIN! It's super fun, we need more members and it brings the challenges and accomplishments of the low level adventure. You can actually seek out low level quests that will benefit you with rewards, and guild members will be willing to help you. That EverQuest 1999 feeling is arriving at a dock near you.

2. Since crafted trade skill items are not subject to a level restriction, you can have a Tailor or Blacksmith get you suited up in some silk, cured silk, or banded armor once you have the plat to purchase or items to trade.

3. You can also purchase a Forged Weapon from a Blacksmith before you can afford a combine weapon, highly suggested! You don't want to be swinging that rusty/tarnished weapon for 15 levels do you?

Definitely farm those bone chips, spider silks, spiderling silks, and High Quality Bear Pelts! You can sell or trade those to guild members for items of like value.

Hi Aokarasu, I can't say how many membres we have online at around 6:30 EST, but we have quite a few people online at night/overnight Friday and Satursday. No worries.

It definitively is a nice guild to be part of, one where members will applaud when you get that first magic weapon or finish an obscure quest. Everyone in the guild that I've had the pleasure to group with were fun , helpful and dedicated.

If you just joined P199, this is a great guild for you! If you are a veteran and feel like trying something new and challenging yourself, Auld Lang Syne is also the place to be.

See you around in Norrath,

Create a new character today!! Recently joined the ranks and I really am having a blast!! Its amazing once you experience EverQuest like this, as it was meant to, you really feel every how important every quest, accomplishment, and level really is. The path to progression really is there, I highly recommend this guild and this play style!

This really sounds up my alley. I'm new to EQ and this is the kind of experience I'm looking for.

Is there any class that would be preferred to roll? I know it's usually 'roll what you want to play', but I'm not really dead set on any class atm. Kinda torn between Cleric, Rogue, and Necro; but I could entertain something else if necessary.

Hey p99 folks -- it's been a great 3 months since I created my first char on p99 (Rainik), and have met tons of great folks. Auld Lang Syne is still kicking, and we're looking to grow, so if anyone wants to create an ALS alt, let me know here, in game, or at our forums. Happy hunting!

Yes, still here -- had some leadership changes (RL stuff), some who fizzled out, which is to be expected, for our path is not for the faint of heart.

We've since opened Velious to help keep members competitive, while also sticking to our core tenets -- earn everything we have, no EC, no MQ's, etc.

hey, i was talking about your guild with my friend on skype and he asked me a good question: do you guys allow selling stuff in the tunnel? i understand the no-buy policy and the overall concept of the guild, but is selling against your charter? (the money would be used to buy merchant stuff or tradeskill goods, obviously) just out of curiosity hehe!

Anowin
01-23-2017, 11:28 AM
Thanks for the inquiry! No, we do not allow any interaction with the outside economy. We believe the economy on this server (which was understandably unavoidable) is so far removed from how it was on Live during the same time frame, that we decided the simplest way to mimic the original experience was to eliminate trade with the general population entirely. We are always open to considering new suggestions to tweak the rules in the spirit of what we are trying to accomplish, but currently this is the way the charter reads.

Nagoya
01-23-2017, 01:22 PM
Sounds good! So, what do you do with old equipment when you find an upgrade? What do you do with your money in general?

(PS: I'm not criticizing I like your concept :))

Anowin
01-23-2017, 01:29 PM
The same thing you do-we spend it. You'd be amazed how expensive spells are, how expensive it is to tradeskill smithing and jewelcraft, how expensive it is to just survive when you aren't handed things for free, and aren't able to purchase severely underpriced items. You gotta work for that gear. I had my trepidations with regard to your question, but I can absolutely confirm that as a 34 cleric, I still only have 200 plat to my name. Also, in theory, we create our own economy in-guild, if it becomes large enough.

Thanks for the interest!

Nagoya
01-23-2017, 03:26 PM
Well, as you might guess, if I'm interested in you guys' guild it is because I am interested in this kind of gameplay, so I did actually play some characters like this and I do know how expensive merchant stuff is hehe. Also, I am guessing that you don't value money camp high vs item camp and XP camp. I can understand how you wouldn't amass tons of savings playing like this. Thanks for your answers!

Anowin
01-23-2017, 03:54 PM
Exactly right. For example, a fellow guildie and I (he plays a monk) recently endured the 30 hell level on up through 34 in Unrest to just get exp, knowing that we needed around level 34 to head out and adventure for our next gear upgrades. We headed over to Permafrost last night for a mammoth hide cloak and a runed circlet for my cleric, and wolf-hide slippers and piece for the purple headband for his monk. As you can imagine, these are nice upgrades for us. So, we do a balance between exp and then travelling around Norrath trying to camp items we can use and really need. Needless to say, when that cloak drops I will be far more satisfied than I would be just buying one for next to nothing.

All of you level 50+ loot farmers, please keep us in mind if we come into the zone you are farming, looking for something we need and will use from mobs appropriate to our level. Please give us a chance :)

I'm interested in having my IKS MNK join your guild. I have been RP'ing him from the get. The only thing he's bought from a vendor at rhino hide boots and they seem to be only available at two Cabilis merchants. Not dropped or crafted/quested. Does something like that go against the guild charter? I spoke with Maez last night on my new HIE CLR (he's received a lot of donations - so I guess he's out). I really like the sound of this guild. I started the monk with the goal of him living his life completely on Kunark, building up trade skills to craft his own armor, weapons and complete the shackle quests.
I made a Magelo page for him to show gear progression:

b_rob242
02-10-2017, 04:57 PM
Yeah. Some smaller group events aren't bad but the organized ones will help build and unify the guild. I like the idea of both. There are more and more Iksar joining, so Kunark groups could be a thing for lower level lizards!

We got to the kings room, a very nice place to hang out, no wonder he placed his throne there. He put up quite a fight, harm touching my pet into oblivion. Jabtik took one for the team, good for him.

Hey Zarcath! last night was fun, and great to meet you. Your question is a good one.. not something we've had to look at as of yet, so I'll toss it around to the crew and see what we come up with.

When it comes to people trying to give away gear, we need to refuse. But a port is a service, so different.. the answer is: Not sure yet =)

Hey! Thinking about getting back into P99, I assume you need to reroll a new character to join rather than a mid-level toon? I'm also a euro player, it would be cool to see a few more join the ranks of a cool idea such as this.

It was a rainy couple of days in South Karana, but the comrades in arms of <Auld Lang Syne> broke forth onto the plains to tackle Quillmane with abandon. Dealing with the deluge didn't stop us from completing our mission, we slogged on through the mud and the downpour for five days (in game, of course) and slew Quillmane eighteen times. Though we walked away with many pairs of new and fancy pants, we also carted away four of the beast's cloaks.

It was a lucky day for Koet - Cleric, Gnaryl - Rogue, Yours Truly - Ranger, and Momasu - Bard. The four of us now float like a... horse, but we still sting like bees (especially Gnaryl).

Hundreds of lions were slain and many elephants were taken down for these cloaks, and we will do it again. Come out and say hi next time you see us massing in a zone, you know we will be after something good!

Walk the Great and oft forgotten road in <Auld Lang Syne> and return to everquest in style, sweat, and a sense of accomplishment. Contact me, Tywyll, or any of our members for an interview!

It's never too late to join <Auld Lang Syne>! While several of our seasoned members have reached late-40s/early-50s levels, there are still many in the other level ranges, including alts of the longest standing members. Now is a great time to join up! We love all styles of game-play, including (but not exclusively) roleplaying as well as seeking out the oft forgotten quests for gear and storylines.
We have artisans covering most tradeskills and a fair amount of multilingual characters who speak very uncommon tongues.
If you've never (or it has been a good while since) played for gear as opposed to buying it, there is nothing quite like camping a mob, seeing the drop and winning the roll for it. Rest assured more than just the item will bring joy, but also great praise and support from the whole guild for the achievement. As Rainik posted above, our members come together to help each other accomplish quest piece goals and specific kills for class-specific gear.

There is no "needed" class or artisan in <ALS>. Come as you are (or want to be). If you are a necro (or which ever class you love) outside ALS and want to test your merit with no twink gear (Melech raises his hand), then submit an app on our site and hail a member in-game to speak with an officer.
To play this style is to love it. I assure you, you will not regret joining. Read through our charter at auldlangsyne.gamerlaunch.com and see if ALS is a fit for you.

Some of our higher level guildmates spent the evening shattering crystalline watchers and the frenzied velium broodlings. Our intrepid leader, Rainik Stormseeker made a surprise visit to adventure alongside his faithful guildmates!

Durloc, the Gnome Magician, and I, Melech of the 3rd Gate of Neriak, began our journey through the first level of Najena. We happened across a fellow student of the arcane, the Magician Faruqq of <The Second Sons>! He acted as guide for us through the dungeon, as we were unfamiliar with its layout. Faruqq successfully navigated us away from pitfalls! We were thankful for him and his pet when we walked into a Deadman's party consisting of six Greater Skeletons who, after the needle skipped across the record, all began to pummel us. Two mages, a Necromancer and their respective pets against six skellies quickly made for a ballroom blitz.
The living routed the dead and glory rained down on us as we finished our evening destroying tentacle terrors and random elementals. Though this was mostly content for the young adventurers, ALS was represented well. More adventures await!

Ok, since i am unable to figure out the [IMG] wrapping, i'll upload..

i know these go for 100p in EC, which is entirely why ALS was created.. this took quite a bit of patience, taking literally months of haunting KC during my night sessions to get, and roughly 150 sentries of Sathir (in groups and solo)... but it was all worth it, esp since the xp was flowing all along the way.

This one I pulled all the way from lcy/zerker area with a liberal application of harmony to a few mobs along and in the way..

I like your style of playing and consider sending an application.
I have a lv 8 Half-Elf warrior with patchwork armor tailored by my main. The rest of the gear has been looted or bought with my own plats. What's been given to me (not much) by high lv players will be given to an alt.
My question is : is having an armor tailored by an alt authorized ?

Hello,

I have been reading up on your guild. I am very interested in your philosophy. I believe it will lead to a much deeper and fulfilling experience. I have not even installed the game yet, my copy of Everquest Titanium should be in tomorrow. This will be my first experience with Project 1999. I played EQ since it came out and for the next 4-5 years. I played a druid and cleric but I would like to play something different this go around. I was thinking Magician or Necromancer. I want to experience the different zones/dungeons of Norrath and see all the world has to offer. I have no desire to blow through to the end game but would like to find a guild of friendly people I enjoy grouping and socializing with that I can experience the game alongside. I also feel the artificial environment of scarcity will keep the challenge and the enjoyment in the game until the end. If you are interested in having me I would like to join. I have a lot of free time on my hands so will probably be playing quite a bit.

My apologies for such a long post.

Make sure you join up by level 10. I've usually joined guilds by looking for officers in the zones I am traveling through and wasn't able to locate one who wasn't busy til level 17. Apparently there's a rule about joining post level 10. Both myself and the officer were not aware so of this so I was in the guild for about 12 hours before being asked to leave :(

It's all good, just informing others to be more aggressive about getting an invite before leveling too far.

Aye, i'm sorry for the miscommunication. Standard protocol is to direct anyone interested to our discord where we have our charter pinned. Once they've reviewed and acknowledged they understand its tenets, provide ample Q&A time with reminders about the level cap, only then do we invite.

Clearly this wasn't followed for you, and i apologize for that... please do roll an alt if you're still interested. We have a great group of people at all levels.

This one was my fault, and I do apologize for it. I hesitated to even respond to you when you messaged me because I do so rarely get to play, but I didn't see the harm as you were under 20, which USED to be the appropriate level, and agreed to the core concepts of the charter when asked.

A fellow officer informed me shortly after inviting you that they had to change the level requirement for some very logical reasons. Either way, I feel terrible that you wound up getting the brunt of it for my mistake. I do agree with Rainik though, do consider rolling up an alt/rerolling to join up. The folks that do get the ability to play far more than I do are a wonderful bunch of folks.

Out of curiosity, what are the reasons for a level cap?

On more than one occasion, applicants were PL'ing themselves to 20, then wanting to join. Some were buying bags of CB belts to get to 20, etc. Basically, everything that goes against our charter.

So, we figured dropping the invite max to 10 would prevent at least some of this.

A dwarf rogue will allow you to access many places in Norrath except possibly some of the darker parts of Norrath. There is Faction work to be done in order to gain acceptance (not being Kill insight) in neriak (Dark Elf city) or Cabilis (Iksar Citadel). But that’s a start. Like xtraball said, /who all Auld. Hey,

I just joined p99 a few days ago. I have an assortment of characters, 8 in all - chosen mainly for their newbie geographical position (for experiencing questing) - and secondly for their race/class efficiency.

My main reason for playing is to play the game, as I had always felt before powerlevels and twinking basically ruined the fun of -gaming for gaming's sake- so I am very interested in your guild.

The low population, for me - is mostly a plus though it means classes like Wizard are going to have issues past level three.

I currently have a 5th level necro, a 5th level monk, a 3rd level shaman, a 3rd level magician, a 3rd level wizard, a 2nd level enchanter, and a 1st level rogue and 1st level warrior.

I understand you have 10th level as a requirement for joining. But this is a heads up to you that Im interested in joining your guild. I originally played EQ from the Kunark ex pac til PoP.

I'm not sure which character will make it to 10th first, Im playing them by whim of desire as this way I will get a feel of which class I will want to make my main the most.

I'm also a person who likes developing craftskills, and right now my necro has some tailoring skills but on the other hand, other characters find it easier to access the kiola nut vendor in OOT.

If you want to find me in game, do a who for low level characters who have a name beginning with W - all my character's names sound like Waylay or Waylaid.

So how do you know if an item is sold by default on a merchant? I noticed some items on the wiki shown for a merchant, are seen as having a quantity in-game. It seems most default items in-game have the infinite symbol, but can this sometimes not be the case?

This is what I was thinking, very thematic, but with gear restrictions and rankings based on achievements. For example, you have a title based on your progress of your class specific quest i.e. crusader quests knave, squire, knight, hero, and until 30 you are given a set of banded, once you attain 30 you can begin questing for Trooper armor or Dreadscale armor.

<Auld Lang Syne> is now rocking 4-5 level 60's leveled in the ALS way, along with, at my last count, 7 epic weapons garnered in the same fashion! As part of Hydra alliance and on our own we hit the Plane of Sky and other Velious and Kunark content! Look for us in Hate and Fear soon!

This isn't to say ALS is only interested in higher end content! Each week there are lowbie raids - so watch your alts, ALS may storm unrest, runnyeye, or some other dungeon! We have a large playerbase and an active and friendly membership. There are always enough officers on to help guide those new to the guild through our semi-complicated ruleset, and always more than enough people online to form guild groups!

Congratulations to our newest level 60, guild leader Rainik! Also congratulations to Winnifrid on completing his druid epic and to Hatefull for completing his cleric epic! And to Aintnothang Bruthamang, one of our warriors on achieving his dream of getting the Infestation!

I've always enjoyed the grind in EQ when I played from 1999-2002. I wasn't a consistent player with my characters, as I must've created dozens over that period of time and never took one past level 47. Raiding and visiting the high-end zones was also something that I never took part of.

When I came back to EQ, I rolled a Halfling Cleric. I figured that Cleric's are always sought after and the class would ease me back into the game without an incredible amount of difficulty. After leveling my Cleric to 35, I needed a change. I fired up an Ogre Warrior, which I leveled to 13. Again, I wanted to try something else, so a Troll Shaman it was. With two months of playing time under my belt, I still hadn't visited Kunark, so I hopped onto the boat and enjoyed the experience (and a death), traversing to the Field of Bone and to Kurn's Tower.

It was there that I grouped with a similarly leveled Monk from ALS. We were a supreme duo and I was having a blast with just the two of us. As the evening went on, we talked about the game, our history with it, and I got a lot of tips on being a better player. He then began telling me about his guild and I immediately wanted to be a part of it. I wanted that classic, grinding experience, with a tight group of people. Unfortunately, my Shaman was a bit twinked with purchases from EC, and I would've had to suicide back to level 15 and start naked. I could've done this, but again, I love the grind, so I started a new Troll Shaman and joined ALS. Best. Decision. Ever.

I don't have any desire to play any of my non-ALS characters again. The inclusive economy, having to quest/grind for your own items, and keeping equipment in the guild is great. I was excited to play EQ again a couple of months ago, but am twice so now.

One of the little things that made me appreciate the experience was when a mummy thumped me into the ground. I couldn't hit him! I then remembered that there are mobs that only magic weapons can inflict physical damage. Being able to get a magic weapon in the tunnel so early made me completely forget about this game mechanic. I may not find myself a magic weapon until the 20's, either by drop, quest, or dropping the 50+p on a Combine, but that's fine!

Anyway, if this playing style appeals to you, check us out. I'm having the best time with the game since its release. And to quote the great Neil Peart, "The point of a journey is not to arrive."

Wow! Awesome write-up, Kryndok! Thanks! Things have been churning up lately. The vets are getting Epics and more closing in on 60! We have had a lot of new recruits of late, so now’s the time to join! “/who all auld” in-game and ask for an officer! There are also groups in the 10s, 20-30 range and some in the 35-45+ ranges as well.
See you in-game!

Just wanted to give a healthy bump to an awesome guild! I joined about a month ago with a Cleric, then rerolled a Monk for easier solo time, and the experience has been awesome! This is the only guild I've been in where they promote a sense of adventure and personal achievement.

It's not about the pixels, but about the experiences you share with the guild. I look forward to the journey :)

Hi there guys, your guild philosophy intrigues me. It's how I've always wanted to experience EQ, as a steady progression from humble beginnings, to high levels of power, rather than just twinking up and getting PL'd to 60. It's also so much more fun and exciting when every drop is a potential upgrade.

I should mention that before I learned about your guild and its charter, I earned probably about a level's worth of XP from buying snake fangs and skins for the quest in Neriak. Does that disqualify my character (now level 8) from joining?

I see Auld-timers all over the place these days. Seen several high end groups in such places as Howling Stones, Old Sebelis, and even The Hole (get that loam/withered)!!!

I have been contemplating making an Enchanter for awhile and I think doing it the Auld Lang Syne way would be pretty fun.

Look forward to joining you boys in the coming months!

Its the most fun I've had in any guild on p99 since Jan 2010, and I Havent even played with half the membership. The 50+ group is constantly busy with many of the high end targets and camps. At the same time lower tiers group whenever possible. If you have "done it all" and are getting bored come and try it.

^^^ This. I was having so much fun with the game when I came back in October, but it wasn't long before I enveloped myself into the rush to get gear and advance as quickly as possible. ALS is a breath of fresh air and takes me back to when I started playing the game 19 years ago, eyes wide open, while taking in all of the sights and sounds. ALS still doing lowbie raids once a week - the current crew of mid 20s - 30s visited the Mines of Nurga this week, slaying goblins and feasting on giant legs of mystery meat.

The higher ups took down Vilefang, and had a super fun Plane of Hate run, among many other things.

ALS does a lowbie raid every week, a 46+ raid at least once a week, and bi-weekly raids with the Hydra Alliance. You'll often find our members XPing in some of the weirder places of Norrath and chasing down quests that have long been forgotten by most, so if you have a full mug of ale and a desire for adventure drop us a line!

In a guild first we managed to slay one of the three golems in the Plane of Fear this morning! With a ragtag group of just twelve Auld Lang Syne members we managed to tackle Dread in what ended up being a chaotic mess of a fight.

Tywyll the Ranger managed to win the Amulet of Necropotence he dropped, and we picked up the Slime Blood of Cazic Thule as part of Kaikuxai's Necromancer epic quest!

This looks pretty cool. I've never cared for level super quick and get uber gear as fast as possible madness that many people seem to be obsessed with here. I haven't played on P99 since about 3 months before Velious was released but I've been on a few other EQEmu servers since then. I was kicking around the idea or starting an SK tonight and this sounds like a really fun way to start. I was apprehensive about starting a tank because of the expectations of tank gear that some can have; sounds like in this guild if I'm half naked then I'll fit right in!

I can't seem to access your guild charter, however. It just gives a message "Lockbox recovery is available to subscription sites. More information is available in the FAQ for this feature." I suppose I'll just hit you up in game!

I joined on my new Ogre SK and it's been really fun so far (only lvl 4). I've been doing some quests that I never knew existed like lizard meat and lizard tails for the uber raw-hide, or w/e it is. I've got like 9 plat now and can buy a vendor shield lol.

It's cool that playing with these rules in mind changes how I think about classes; this type of play definitely isn't for me for every class, but for some classes is appeals to me. For instance it makes me kind of sad that a pre-nerf cos isn't possible in this guild so maybe I will do a paladin instead of SK. I know a regular cos is still really good..but I have a pre-nerf from years back and I want to use it lol. Or maybe I will stick with the SK idk! The point is thinking about the game with these rules in mind changes a lot and that's a good thing.

I love that lizard tail quest, and the lizard meat one. My baby ogre warrior alt had leveled up to around level 9 mostly on lizards, and has gotten enough money from the rawhide and rusty weapons to get his blacksmithing high enough he is starting to make his own banded.

My goal on him is to try and make himself a full set of ogre cultural plate before he gets to 20 without trading with anyone.

ALS finished up Xenevorash last night for one of our long time monks, Reptilican, who has also taken it upon himself to perform the grueling task of getting as much of Norrath to like him as possible (hes a filthy lizard, of course). Reptilican is our ultimate faction quester.

Because of the fight last night, I thought I might take the time to let people know that even with our play style there are lots of great possibilities for people to get major items and to complete hard to quest gear! A large number of our higher end people roam around in velious armor now and we have a number of epics. The following people are those people in ALS who have walked the long forgotten road and came out with a shiny new weapon!

Congratulations to all, and especially congratulations to our newest epic Monk, Reptilican (turning in today!)

You can buy a port from dialaport if no one in guild is available. Buffs are ok as long as they are level appropriate (lvl 39 buffs on a lvl 1 character is clearly a version of power leveling). The main thing is that you buy and sell within the guild and keep your gear level appropriate.

There is never an issue getting a guilded druid to bind you where ever you need it. I've done it several times and am always happy to do it.

Not sure on resurrections because I just dinged 37 today and have never asked anyone for a res. I don't figure a res is even needed until I'm in my 40's and even then I may never ask for one. But that's just me. Also I never take donations from guildies for ports even though they can donate and we can accept as long as it's between two ALS members.

So if you are in ALS you can hit me up for a free port/bind anytime. I play a LOT.

Is there no flexibility on the level cap? I follow your guild's core belief without having known that you all exist.

I have a:
lvl 29 cleric (Bhat) that's still wearing banded that he made himself, brass earrings, bloodstone rings, barbed armplates from befallen, crested mistmoore shield from mistmoore, and an ivory bracelet from unrest. 478 days played (this doesn't seem right, but that's what it says)

lvl 17 War (Toofa) who is wearing the banded made from the cleric (though has not payed for it, this can be fixed), a forged long sword/Tower shield, and a rough hickory bow that he fletched himself. I've got 7 days played on the warrior (he just hit max sense heading!)

I would hate to have to start again to be able to join you guys. I understand why that max-level rule is in place, it's just a shame that I can't take part without starting all over again.

Can you recommend any other guilds that are like yours?

I understand what you guys are attempting to go for here.

But I'd like to explain an encounter i've had with one of your guild members. And why I find walking the great "Forgotten road" to grant some people entitlement.

I met one of your guild members in a low level camping area. He's been camping there for probably 4 days non stop. 30 - 40 hours by now maybe more. I told him, "you know if you we're to have leveled during the time you've been camping this mob (level 20), you could've easily earned enough money to just purchase the item.

He replied back in a very entitled and arrogant tone, that he had 15k on one of his other characters and could purchase it easily. But because of YOUR guild's rules hes chosen to camp this mob for an endless amount of time instead.

Hey im all for the "idea" behind it. But first off, he was not friendly about it at all. Secondly, hes camping a very low level mob, for semi-decent loot, for an item, that he could obtain without question by purchase. This camp is now locked down and completely controlled by him for days. A camp that someone who actually can't afford to go to EC and purchase the item, has to wait for him to find some time to sleep (which I dont think he has). This camp has been completely off limits because one of your guild members without a doubt feels a sense of entitlement about accomplishing whatever it is he thinks hes accomplishing. Its not fair to those who CANT afford to just go buy the loot. I told him this, I told him it sounded ridiculous, and then he continued to act pretty childish about it.
THirdly, whats the difference here? Earning money on a new character should grant that character should grant that character the opportunity to purchase something that will essentially aid them in their everquest experience. But from what I understand your guild rules forbid purchasing anything of value like that? I Dont get it...

Anyways, I just find the whole thing a kind of irony I suppose. I just dont get it. And, i obviously wont be joining your guild...

Thanks
Newt.

I told him, "you know if you we're to have leveled during the time you've been camping this mob (level 20), you could've easily earned enough money to just purchase the item.

The beauty about this game, is that you can progress through it however you like as long as you're not breaking the PnP. That he/she chose to make his gaming experience even more challenging (joining ALS) warms my heart.

By the way - what cherished camp are you speaking of?

He replied back in a very entitled and arrogant tone, that he had 15k on one of his other characters and could purchase it easily. But because of YOUR guild's rules hes chosen to camp this mob for an endless amount of time instead.

Screenshots?

I'd argue that, in the time it took you to post in this thread, and however much time you spent debating our member, you could have bought it in the tunnel.

THirdly, whats the difference here? Earning money on a new character should grant that character should grant that character the opportunity to purchase something that will essentially aid them in their everquest experience. But from what I understand your guild rules forbid purchasing anything of value like that? I Dont get it...

Surely you don't understand mudflation. Perhaps you haven't read our charter or understand our mission statement. You're more than welcome to check it all out in our discord server.

Anyways, I just find the whole thing a kind of irony I suppose. I just dont get it. And, i obviously wont be joining your guild...

Thanks
Newt.

No worries. What I don't understand, is why you didn't bring their alleged behavior to an officer's attention? There's nothing in our charter forbidding the very common practice of camping loot. If they were breaking the PnP, please PM me some screenshots and he/she will be dealt with.

Bale used his Wizardry to make us wipe on the first VS attempt so he had time to log in. Well played, Bale, well played...

Tonight ALS w/ our Alliance, Aegis - along with our friends from Blood Guard did a crawl from the front of NToV all the way to the PoM ZL. We put some coth mages in, explored PoM, and stressed out that zone w/over 70 people in it. It was a lot of fun doing NToV for our first time and doing an awesome 70 man crawl.

Big thanks to BG, especially Fendur, Lavittz, and Souled for partnering with us - thanks to everyone who came out to make it fun.

ALS is doing big things and making lots of friends - join today!

It was really interesting - we burst in w/ 70 people and the normal denizens were very confused in OOC. We had a short tour, now most of us have been spending our week here :)

I'm so stoked that you guys are doing this amazingly.

When we formed ALS, never would I have dreamed that you'd get this far and be going this strongly.

Curse my timezone for not letting me be around you guys more.
