Hey guys.
I see the Leveling Guide put forth on the 1999 wiki, but it gives such a wide variety of options. I was wondering what the popular hunting spots are for the level tiers.
10-15
15-20, etc.
Any particular suggestions for these two? I spent 4-10 just being a slut for buffs in EC tunnel and destroying everything with an even-red con.
I am a monk.

Yeah, if you're already hanging around EC, head to Oasis and South Ro for dervs and orcs and crocs and stuff.
Befallen would also be good with a group.
I have to disagree RE oasis and Ro - since you're a monk, you're presumably going to be grouping, and if you're grouping, you should take advantage of dungeon ZEMs (zone experience modifiers) which make you level faster in dungeons. Dungeons also tend to have better loot than outdoor zones. Hit up Befallen; it's the closest dungeon in your level range. You can also head over to Crushbone or Unrest, though they're farther away.

The ONLY benefit about the oasis, and RO zones, is the high levels that constantly pass through. EVERYWHERE else on the damn server is better than those zones. Levels 6-13? Go to blackburrow, and turn in those gnoll teeth for a shit ton of experience. 13+? Go to unrest, the pulling never stops unless there is one player being plvled with the entire zone.

To answer your question, Dungeons are better exp if you get a group but the largest population is always in the Oasis. When you near 20 guktop is generally where you can find a group.
Unrest is hit or miss as far as groups go. Though if you're playing in prime time, you'll probably be fine.

Oasis sucks for a melee, but it's awesome for solo casters. Upper Guk is the shit, check it out. More plat and more experience to be had there. You can start grouping or setting up groups there at level 15. And if you can't find enough people to join a group, start sending tells to the people in Oasis to come join you. They're probably getting sub-par experience, shitty loot, and having most of their mobs killed by solo casters so they should be happy to move elsewhere.

Lol no offense, but Befallen is pretty horrible advice. "lets go to befallen!", famous last words

Gorge, Do you know who the quest giver is for this quest? I was unable to find any info for it. Thanks.

Get to know the various /who all unrest /who all 'fill in dungeon name" searches and that way you don't do the run to the various places only to discover there is only 2 people in zone, a lvl 37 druid and their lvl 18 twink friend.
That said, unrest is great when its good, befallen is more than likely a very bad idea unless you go with folks who know the place then it's fun. Oasis is totally boring and low xp but safe but folks seem to like boring and slow so its easy to get groups/duo.
Me? I'd go to the gypsy camp in NK and kill wisps for a level or so and make some good plat trading in the GLS for research tomes thingees. 10pp a pop.

Gnoll fangs can be turned in to Lysbith McNaff in Halas or Captain Tillin (I think?) in Qeynos.

Staying on Anotinca -- Highpass (and eventually highkeep) with the bonus that you can bind in the zone as a melee... Upper Guk also great xp and the mesh isn't heavy so even a monk can fill up some bags with it.
Hitting Fayder - Crushbone / Unrest / Mistmoore is a great trio of dungeon zones.

The fact that you were grouped with some people 4 levels higher than you at level 10 has a lot more to do with your xp sucking than the fact that you were in the Oasis. Grouping with people more than 2 levels higher than you is generally a bad idea until you are over level 30.

Worst advice ever for a monk, particularly the advice on heart spiders and Dark Deathsinger.
Spider poison will hurt bad, moreso for a class that can't heal effectively, cure poison or buff resists.
I can't fathom why a monk would willingly trash not only their Bard faction but also Knights of Truth faction. Thats a good way to get KoS in all of North Freeport. Guess you'll need to find another bank to use. I suppose you could undo the bard faction by farming the shit out of Mistmoore, but AFIAK the only way to repair KoT faction is killing Militia guards in E/W FP. Then good luck getting to your guild trainer as a monk. It seems like such a bad plan all around for a mediocre single spawn camp.
On a slightly related note, Dark is terrible choice to camp when Drizda Tunesinger in Feerrott is also 25 (though inexplicably had slightly more hp) and drops 2-5 PLAT per kill, versus Dark who drops a few silver and maybe a gold.
So this is somewhat helpful to the OP: at 13-14, you might try Sirens in OoT for solo exp. Sirens are level 12, have low hp, don't cast, aren't social and drop decent coin and mermaid scales that vendor fairly well, but also are used in the mage water focus quest. theres 2 on a rock in the middle of OoT, and another single a short swim away. A second camp of 2 is on the first group of rocks as you zone in from Freeport. They don't turn light blue until 17.

being a mo9nk the best advice was the blackburrow advice. while you're over there you can start your monk headband quests.
as an added bonus, the headband quests lead into your epic quest when kunark gets released (along with the sash quests from FP)

Girard is right unfortunately. I got a level in Blackburrow, but most of the time I'd have to solo, it's a ghost town. Same with Crushbone. Oasis sucks monster cock but at least there are people there.
As far as the OoT idea, i'll try it but not being able to heal myself is awful. I'm wondering if the exp would be better just grouping Vs. solo + downtime of regen for the sirens.

That used to be the case. All the zones you just mentioned are now ghost towns 90% of the time.
64 people in Oasis -- 7 in Unrest, crushbone, etc.
The only time there has ever been less than 10 people in unrest, is during EARLY morning hours when most zones are empty anyway.
Blackburrow IS a ghost town, because everyone would rather sit around EC and get buffs instead. It's unfortunate that shit like this still goes on.

Crushbone is not a ghost town, unless you're playing at 6 AM. I always see 8 - 22 people there. The same goes for Unrest and Highkeep.
Tons of people in Oasis and South Karana at all times.
Highpass seems to go both ways: either there's an orc group, or there's not. If there's not, it can sometimes be worth it to send tells to people in EK / EC and try to form one.
Befallen IS a ghost town: usually 1 - 3 people there.
I usually do recommend Crushbone till 14/15, Oasis till 16, then Highpass/Unrest/South Karana till 24.
I hate oasis. =)

I always go to oasis... not because the xp is good, but because it's one of the most nostalgic zones in EQ (for me). Only thing missing on p1999 is the lack of trains to the docks of spec's and sg's
in fact, there seem to be way less sg's in oasis than there used to be. you used to see them running around all the time killing newbies. now all you normally see is hatar
