(PC master race)

They've said most mods for skyrim as-is should work with the special edition.
But there is talk that mods will have to be 'updated' via the new tool kit and uploaded to Bethesda's 'newer' mod service.

Is owning prior to date for getting it free or to purchasing period. The latter doesn't make sense

I went hard on Skyrim for 2 weeks when it was first released... literally lived it the whole time, cleared all the quests I could find, got all the achievements, then sold it on eBay for about the price I paid for it. Never felt like going back for the 3 expansions or anything, as good as the game is.

Maybe I need to enlighten myself with regards to modding to make me come back and give it another try.

Skyrim was fun for a while, but Morrowind is still the best.

On the steam edition I have about 500hrs with all the expansions and 60 achievements which I don't really try to get. I had the pre-steam release box from launch, was over 500hrs there, yeah prolly same box like you had. Around 1300 or so in total. sad... :( heh

The only thing I've modded myself were followers which isn't too hard to do. But for workshop mods, the two best are the followers mod, gives them more options, and the hunters guild mod (Hunting in Skyrim). But having yet to do the really good expansions, I'd highly recommend doing the expansions first, they're really good, even doing them before the main plot for the benefits and equipment. Though the followers mod is good to drop in at the start, so you can reequip your followers and issue them a few additional orders. I always used a give item for hearthfire though, I like crafting but it's a little beyond that having serious gathering time.

imo best side plots are the civil war and the dark brotherhood. I pref to fight the civil war for the Stormcloaks, but both sides are worth a play for sure. There is also a civil war mod, it's suppose to be good, but it's only offered at some mode site (I think Nexus) and requires a sing-up which I never did. Oh and Joining the Companions is worth the rime too, it has some pretty different quests hehe Hooowwwlll! And the werewolf status is nice if you don't care about the refresh bonus. Offers some decent followers out of it too, not so generic.

My fav build has been based on the Oblivion assassin build. Mainly bow, dual wield daggers, stealth, and alchemy for making poison. It's funny, once you get stealth up high, you can own the game nekid, they can hardly detect you standing right next to you while you fill them with arrows. There is an assassin follower in that first tavern to the left in whiterun.

Then there's this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxHbO1MHXuI&list=PLYioADNCYlUhzSspVMT8D_4zbeAOR4Chn).

If you own this on PC I don't really understand the hype. I've modded mine to look far better than the remastered edition will. You can literally download mods to make every visual aspect of the game better for however powerful of a PC you have.

I mean, I understand a little bit if you're afraid to try modding on your own, but idk why that would be. Plenty of guides out there to walk you through the steps to make the game look absolutely amazing.

Same. Not sure what the hype is other than Bethesda not having a new one ready for the next gen consoles.

Modded Skyrim is amazing. Highly recommend checking out Skyrim Redone, completely changes perks (way more possible builds) and makes combat feel more intense-- take more damage, deal way more damage, all potions are HoTs... way too many things about SkyRe to list. But yeah, Skyrim with a few mods vs vanilla is night and day, definitely worth checking out.

hah yeah, and as good as the updated engine looks, it'll probably be modded to look even better just like the 32bit engine was.

Area's load really fast.
Game looks twice as good if not better and it runs better then plain skyrim with graphic mods.
The denser grass and plants really help the immersion.
Lighting effects are really good, some take a little getting use to. Especially during certain types of weather. Weather feels denser too.

I would not say it's a 10/10 remaster. But the good out weighs the bad.
Definitely the version you want to play if you never beat skyrim or never played it before.

Same here. Finally, access to proper amounts of memory to run all the things.

Its current year and you still don't know how to allocate dedicated ram

Its current year and you still don't know how to allocate dedicated ram

It's the current year and there is still a limit to memory addressable by the game engine. Skyrim by default uses memory cells of 256MB. Once the first cell is full it creates a new cell. Skyrim has a problem with switching cells. With the 64bit engine it will become possible for the core game to access a much wider section of ram and may also allow for larger cells (without pushing the engine past its 32bit addressable space) thus eliminating the need for cell switching all together (a major cause of ctd and ils).

Same here (although luckily I didn't buy it) although I played it more than 15 minutes though. It's a personal thing and I was burnt out on the concept after Morrowing 2x and Oblivion 2x but still I don't see how the game is topping best of lists.

But... nice addition for those who did like the game.
