Not a forum game per se, but a topic flow of sub-topics.

* Find something on this day in history that interests you and post about it. At least a paragraph worth, not just a link or list. Say like the subject, the facts, then your opinion on it. You can link, but keep copy/paste to a minimum.

* Discussion of what other people post for that day. Discuss, but 24hrs after their Original Post, the topic is dead and move on. You can always start another thread on it, which is a bonus for forum diversity of topics.

So example: Today is Nov. 14. Anyone and everyone can grab one historical topic per day and post it, whatever year you like... in the past ;) ...historical like. Discussions open on those posts. After ~24hrs, you can pick a different topic to post for that day (example: Nov. 15th etc.) and it's open for the next 24hrs (give or take some hours).

Breakdown of my first post below: The title (required). Facts about it, (optional) can post a paste paragraph with link (no more than pasting 1 paragraph). Then your comment (required) more than a couple sentences, however long you like. Images optional. Replies on topic!

November 14th, 1776.
Benjamin Franklin takes sides
On this day in 1776, the St. James Chronicle of London carries an item announcing “The very identical Dr. Franklyn [Benjamin Franklin], whom Lord Chatham [former leading parliamentarian and colonial supporter William Pitt] so much caressed, and used to say he was proud in calling his friend, is now at the head of the rebellion in North America.”
http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/benjamin-franklin-takes-sides

Franklin was an interesting character. If he knew all the trouble that was coming over this divide, I wonder if he would have still done it. I think he would. I wonder what he would say if he were here today, transported here from that exact day, watching his story unfold on a magic box thingy, and then seeing where we are today. I think he'd say a thing or two, once the shock wore off. Then would he still do it? :D I think he still would. It's all we have.

Nov 14th 1650: Birthdate of King William III of England.
Also known as William of Orange, he was the ruler who came to the throne as a result of the Glorious Revolution, which was financed, in part by Dutch Jews. The newly readmitted Jewish community in England had nothing to fear from the new who King who would be the first English monarch to bestow knighthood on a Jewish subject.

Oliver Cromwell permitted Jews to return in 1657 , ending the Edict of Expulsion put in place in 1290 by King Edward I.
This paved the way for the establishment of the Bank of England in 1694 (World's second ever central bank after the Swedish in 1668) and usury financing started to take control.
It was not until 1913 that America succumbed to the insidious nature of usury financing with the establishment of the Federal Reserve , a private bank that is in breach of the US Constitution.

Thank you goyim.

hah or exactly what it was created for. Like the UN allowing communist China to remain as a permanent member after their communist revolution, then decides they want to claim Mongolia and deny them UN representation; uses it's UN security council veto power to deny them a seat at the UN. The UN has always been whacked. Yeah, Truman and those guys, really put the dampers on a possible free and open civilization :/

CONTEXT: The collapse of the Ottoman Empire is very close and they've looked like a rag tag bunch of cunts for years. Tanks are being used in the West and they aren't keeping up. Also the Armenian genocide is coming in 1915 (in about 6 months time).

On November 14, 1914, the religious leader Sheikh-ul-Islam declared an Islamic holy war in Constantinople (modern day Istanbul, Turkey) in the capitol of the Ottoman Empire on behalf of the Ottoman government. He compelled his Muslim followers to go to war against Britain, France, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro in World War I.

“Of those who go to the Jihad for the sake of happiness and salvation of the believers in God’s victory,” the sheik said in his declaration, “the lot of those who remain alive is felicity, while the rank of those who depart to the next world is martyrdom. In accordance with God’s beautiful promise, those who sacrifice their lives to give life to the truth will have honor in this world, and their latter end is paradise.”

Nice to see muslim culture has moved forward a century on...even though there was a global war on, they can draw one on religious lines

Oh yeah, "The Young Turks". A true genocide in the 20th century. Yeah, they declared "Jihad" on this date, 1914. "Sheikh-ul-Islam declares an Islamic holy war on behalf of the Ottoman government, urging his Muslim followers to take up arms against Britain, France, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro in World War I". Wow, how times change ...not really.

hah yep, I know about that too. Just crazy shit over WWI. And what was it, the black rose? Some black flower, yeah rose I checked. They would give to men not off to fight in WWI, given by women and meant to say that were cowardly. Yeah it was also given to those leaving, as to a friend who was not expected to return. But to someone not leaving, it was to say they were a coward!

It'd be almost like if they threw a war and nobody showed up for it. What would we do with all those invitations :D and party favors!

Federal Reserve System formally opens for business.
The Bank Bill created by Hamilton was a proposal to institute a national bank in order to improve the economic stability of the nation after its independence from Britain. Although the national bank was to be used as a tool for the government, it was to be privately owned. The Federal Reserve Banks opened for business in November 1914. The New York Fed opened for business under the leadership of Benjamin Strong, Jr. , previously president of the Bankers Trust Company, on November 16, 1914.

New York City US$ 2.62T
San Francisco US$ 512B
Richmond US$ 289B
Atlanta US$ 244B
Chicago US$ 175B
Dallas US$ 154B
Cleveland US$ 133B
Philadelphia US$ 120B
Boston US$ 91B
Kansas City US$ 61B
St. Louis US$ 58B
Minneapolis US$ 32B
All banks US$ 4.49T

Audit the Fed! Is it even possible to do it? They prolly sent all the gold to China and just pull numbers out of the air, type them in on a whim. If we did it, what do you think would happen? Pandora's box? Hell freeze over? Houston Astros win the world series?

I'm assuming this way an attempt by Jarn to point out that not all soldiers in the Ottoman empire were muslims. The empire used forced conscription/slave soldiers, as many empires throughout history have, which meant much of their army was comprised of "infidels" and minorities.

Event Five: Death of the Sleeper - EverQuest - November 15-17, 2003

The guild Blood of the Spider on The Rathe server was the first guild system-wide to kill Ventani (the fourth warder) on July 28, 2001, and therefore wake the sleeper. The event caused a stir on the server when Kerafyrm went into multiple zones, including Skyshrine, killing everyone and everything in his path.

On November 15, 2003, on the Rallos Zek PvP server, the three top guilds (Ascending Dawn, Wudan, and Magus Imperialis Magicus) assembled over 180 players with the intent to wake and kill The Sleeper. This was in response to an attempt to wake The Sleeper by an Iksar monk named Stynkfyst, who partnered with the largest random-pk guild of the time. Having been a former member of uber-guild Ascending Dawn, he had the knowledge the random pk guild needed to wake The Sleeper. The top guilds did not assemble their forces until word of Stynkfyst's intentions had spread, and it became clear that he intended to wake The Sleeper, forever preventing future guilds from farming the old loot table. Until this point, waking The Sleeper had not been seriously considered by any guilds, as it was believed that waking The Sleeper would make the offending guild's players kill-on-sight to the other guilds of the server. After 3 hours and 15 minutes, at 26% health, Kerafyrm disappeared (despawned). The players talked with the EverQuest Game Masters, and there was a general consensus that a bug had caused the problem, although some suggested (backed by statements from one GM) that higher-ups at SOE had purposely despawned Kerafyrm, because it was not intended to be part of the story.

The following day, the players logged in to find that Kerafyrm was back in his "sleeping" state, ready to be triggered again. There was also an apology on the official EverQuest forums from SOE, explaining that they had stopped the encounter because they feared the players were engaging the boss in an unintended manner. Although annoyed (the players pointed out that the reasons SOE gave could not have occurred, and felt lied to), they attempted to battle Kerafyrm once again.

On November 17, 2003, after a nearly 3-hour battle, Kerafyrm was defeated. He had between 100 million and 400 million hit points, likely around 250 million (most EverQuest bosses have 2 million at most), was immune to all spells except wizard's manaburn spell and Shadow Knight's Harm Touch, possessed two death touch abilities (abilities that automatically killed players), and attacked players for 6999 damage per swing. By using the cleric's epic weapon and other resurrection spells, the players were able to bring their dead characters back into the battle faster than Kerafyrm could kill them all.

Maybe you have your own list of Top 5 Most Memorable Events in MMORPG History on your mind, and maybe in your opinion, there are far more events deserved to be memorized. Then why not share them with us through leaving a comment?

Yeah, as an FPS player, I swear by them. Not only better quick frag count, but I can go longer with them, all day in fact. So rather than my frags slumping from fatigue when performance should be improving, I see an increasing performance curve as I warm up and tune-in with the trackball without the fatigue ruining that. I'm not into thumb drives, but the centered ones give me index-finger control and my middle finger keeps my orientation centered from the side, and useful for big sweeps.

hah big sweeps with a mouse when fatigued, sometimes slip and bounce off against the wall :D

Lincoln delivers Gettysburg Address
On November 19, 1863, at the dedication of a military cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln delivers one of the most memorable speeches in American history. In just 272 words, Lincoln brilliantly and movingly reminded a war-weary public why the Union had to fight, and win, the Civil War.

Then (https://youtu.be/BvA0J_2ZpIQ) and Now (https://youtu.be/OJniAA4m7Bo)
The unfinished work, most certainly striving for freedom still today in a divided nation. But hope remains, yet as the dividers divide and while the overcomers overcome. In this world, freedom is always earned, seldom given.

I can't help you with the gay hate thing, sorry. I only really have problems with gay activists of which uniformly spew tyranny; a rule over the majority by the few. But really doesn't have any account specified to sexual orientation, I equally dislike any of the type that would spew such rhetoric.

btw forum alt spidey senses tingling...

Lincoln was quite a tyrant. Many historians give him a pass on this, supposedly because he lived in exceptional times. Another interpretation is that his extreme authoritarianism helped to make the times what they were.
