Someone needs to make sure resources are not wasted. That's the one function legitimate banking does for people (besides being a place to put their money). Banking is basically applied-finance.

If you want wealth to be made on a macro-level, you need Bankers to tell you what is a good bet and what is a shit one. That's their job for society.

The main problem is Bankers are told by society "maximize GDP in short-term." They are god damn good at it. But that sucks for anyone who isn't well off enough to invest and gain from the booming macro economy.

Bankers simply need to consider class as part of their mission. If Bankers became rich and famous because they help finance tons of low-income housing -- more would do that. Instead, they become rich and famous for financing casinos, golf courses, luxury hotels and overpriced retirement communities. They get even richer for playing with money on Wall Street -- like a parasite sucking off the real economy.

The change has to be cultural in nature. Only a cultural revolution of sorts will get bankers on the level. Or at least, we will get rid of those in the way.
