I do think that since the Occupy movement nearly a decade ago (u old fucks), that eyes have been trained on the lower and middle class. I actually watched a good hour of CNN yesterday, so I am qualified to give an update.

One of Trumps advisors said Mexican immigrants need to 'get off their lazy asses' and register for some hand out program Trump has for the illegals, and the Dems are falling over themselves in outrage that a high level white house official would use the word ass. They also don't call them illegal Mexican immigrants they call them 'Dreamers' and paint these people as saints.

Dems still very angry about Trump and Russia. Someone leaking real emails about Hillary Clintons back alley deals and swindling is a crime now and Trump is apparently the one who should be hanged for it.

Also the government is threatening to shut off funding if Trump wont pass a certain immigration bill (or maybe they will if he does pass it?) and Trump seems to not care at all and continues to laugh at the Dems for being such pu$$ies.

Overall I wanted to vomit and I will not be returning to CNN

FACT: Americans (even "poor" ones) are wealthy, both geographically and temporally. Never been a wealthier time/place.

OPINION: Investing in the stock market index is the simplest yet most charitable cause to which you can contribute. By investing, you responsibly put your money in industrious hands, reduce the money greedy wall street high-fee sharks speculate with all day, and you increase your own wealth the fastest which will let you give to a noble charity once you are financially independent.

Getting rich quick is a diversion. Wealth is built through the geometric series of compound interest. Time in the market. Start young (that means yesterday) compounding at 8%, save half your salary, and if you can't, start building skills to increase your salary so you can. As to your scathing indictment of capitalism, I can agree that the current capitalist model has some fundamental flaws which could be amended. To my relatively uneducated perspective, I think the main issue is the current oligarchy which has deep ties into the legislative forces in our country.

Personally, I would like to see better laws drawn up that prevent Capital interests from having such direct and pulling influence. This would do something to hinder the continuation of our oligarchy.

However, there is still a large margin for personal merit to help you achieve capital fortune. Then it's up to you to figure out what you want to do with it. You may bitch and moan all you want about having easy starts, but the simple fact is that if you have MERIT, you can go FAR, no matter from whence you came. While I don't care for the equity argument, there is a pragmatic argument to be made against laissez fairs capitalism rooted in the pareto principle and exploitative power of excellence. Absent careful regulation, top performers will necessarily win ALL available resources. that in itself is not a problem, however once claimed they can be exploited to stifle competition in defense of an impotent master.

The other issue with the freedom of opportunity is that most people are not equipped with the innate tools to exploit that opportunity. This however is neither to say that such individuals are fundamentally flawed nor that equality of opportunity is fundamentally flawed, simply it is an admission that freedom of opportunity is not a reasonable path of great success for many if not most individuals.
