It's important you understand that person is in no way socialist and has never done anything to suggest she gives a fuck about inequality of power relations, resources, or quality of life.

Sometimes I wonder if any of these people are real....

Every corrupt regime that tries to hold on to power hires fake protestors...its just textbook at this point. They're not even talking about wealth inequality which is the primary thing that makes socialism fucking socialism. Marx was tolerant of other races in the sense that he thought it was ridicules for anyone to hold on to old tribal customs and identities. He never said anything about celebrating differences of people...that's completely the opposite. He thought we would all see that there was no difference and we all need to move forward as fellow humans to create a common utopia.

I personally -- in all my conversations -- have never met one of these identity politics gurus that knew a damn thing about Marx...they usually majored in something like Civil Rights or some other bullshit "American Politics" or "Latino Studies" type major.

Let me just tell you as someone who looked really close...American politics at the masters/phd level is basically for the guys that love studying the details of old white men in their conversations from 1800-1970 or so. There is a real fear of saying anything that might truly offend anyone -- and a lot of theoretical nonesense is taught that we know is not true.

For example, they still teach that horrible psychological theory that presidents come in 4 types:

Active Negative

Passive Positive

Passive Negative

.....this is just some stupid idea some guy came up with before Nixon was elected...it turned out he was right that Nixon was doomed so everyone flocked to him like he knew what he was talking about. He wasn't educated in psychology and there's no reason to believe any of this except for he was "right" that Nixon was "Active Negative" (the bad one).

And that's American politics. It's not real political science. It's not like they teach that shit anywhere else in the world like international relations or comparative politics.

There is no fucking way any of these guys (almost all guys) could locate Taiwan on a map -- probably not even Paraguay. The dont understand how America works in relation to the world, so they don't really study America with the same impact that real political scientists do.

But I guess its a good class for undergraduates to learn about presidents and congress etc. But if you try to major in that shit you'll either end up as one of these useless old dudes I'm talking about or some batshit crazy lady like her. So I decided to stop smoking pot for 30 years or so. I've come to the conclusion its more suited for young adults and retiring adults than prime working age adults. Small physical withdraw..took like 2 days and still managed to get to sleep.

I mean if your already set in your career I'm sure its fine. OR if you like to do it very occasionally once every 2 weeks or something. But the reality is most people that like pot end up doing it everyday...sometimes even before work.

Maybe on special occasions ill do some brownies or something. If you know I'm saying.

One of the problem with smoking pot is it does impact the lungs. I mean I noticed breathing issues and lots mucus when running. vaporizers either are inefficient or they cost a lot (valcanos)...not to mention there are problems with vape and lung mucus anyway....we don't even know all the problems that might occur with vape.

but I'm sure it doesn't matter to most people. It only matters if you take fitness seriously....no prof of cancer or anything....and who cares if your lungs are 90% of what they could be or some shit.

I don't know if you heard of power of advertising but its kind of a thing. It makes it hard for old style fast food joints to compete....even if they have better burgers for lower prices (realistically it would probably be 1-2 dollars more).

The only reason we have that stuff around here in Eugene, OR is because the city makes it really hard for them to get in -- especially the nice areas of town. Poor people have other problems, so they don't care whats in their burger and just go to McDonalds because of advertising.

I think you can do a lot in this country without ever raising anyone's taxes or directly handing people basic income. But those two things will probably still happen.

Law is as bad as it will ever get from a job outlook standpoint. What you don't realize is not like lawyers are there just because they have legal knowledge...its a buy in to a group that looks out for themselves and makes their jobs 100% necessary regardless of how useful they are individually*. It's not like you need a degree an engineering to be a engineer....but all be damned if anyone is going to be hired an engineer in this country without paying their buy in.

Big law firm hiring is dead. It's a bureaucracy rich kids sign up for. They make sure your rich before you get in and you didn't just slip through by being a smart middle/poor kid. People looking to get hired at some big company for good salary and benefits are generally fucked unless they grew up in a family of upper middle class or wealthy professionals.

Not everyone files their own taxes because they can, not everyone is going to do their own legal work because they can. Criminals need lawyers that can talk to ADA's, judges, juries...etc

10% of the class identified as conservative on the subject...as in: Sex should be between a man and a woman in a monogamous relationship. There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:

• 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws.
• 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified.
• 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – better known as gun violence.
• 3% are accidental discharge deaths.
So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation.
• 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago
• 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore
• 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit
• 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)

So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.
This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.
Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.
Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals.
But what about other deaths each year?
• 40,000+ die from a drug overdose–THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!
• 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths.
• 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide).
Now it gets good:

• 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital!
• 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If the liberal loons and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ................

There has been a ton news today. Uh Oh: College Students Not Sure About Protecting Free Speech (http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-young-free-speech-on-campus-20180408-story.html), is an article that tracks a 22% uptick in students that favor censorship (its at 30% now).

Tony Robbins doesn't like the #metoo movement and says he knows a half dozen CEOs that won't hire (attractive) women because they are not worth the risk.

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:

• 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws.
• 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified.
• 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – better known as gun violence.
• 3% are accidental discharge deaths.
So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation.
• 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago
• 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore
• 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit
• 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)

So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.
This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.
Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.
Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals.
But what about other deaths each year?
• 40,000+ die from a drug overdose–THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!
• 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths.
• 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide).
Now it gets good:

• 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital!
• 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If the liberal loons and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ................

Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions! So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It's pretty simple:
Taking away guns gives control to governments. The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace.

Arguing against the notion that something MUST be done is not the same as arguing that nothing SHOULD be done.

There is room for a dialogue, but entering the discussion determined to do SOMETHING blinds you to possibilities ensuring you'll never see the truth on the off chance you are wrong.
