I deleted my Facebook right around the same time this all went down, but not for privacy concerns — a creepy episode of Black Mirror which hit a little too close to home gave me the heeby jeebies about FaceBook and Instagram, so I pulled the plug.
My layman’s understanding is that people are now figuring it out for the first time that Facebook is one huge data mine. To which my response is: really? You just thought putting all this sensitive information on the net was going to be kept secret? I don’t know.

So I read the big Harvard (http://www.equality-of-opportunity.org/assets/documents/race_paper.pdf)study that supposedly proves addressing class alone will not address inequality on the basis on race (it doesn't say anything about gender and indeed -- seems to imply the opposite). The root cause of it all?

Incarceration. Black men are far more likely to go to be arrested and go to prison. They get stiffer sentences for the same crimes. Not only this...but the private prison lobby is a prime example of rich white men using their leverage over government to essentially keep all black men significantly more poor. There may be other ways that the rich lobby that impact black men's income in aggregate.

I think ending the drug war and looking at more fair sentencing is in order. Because from my quick and dirty review of the paper...it would seem that is a huge part of the problem that can't be addressed by tackling class alone.

Native American men -- are also poor as shit. For some reason women of these groups do better. But the prison bit my explain a lot of this because women of color simply aren't as threatening to white (and lets face it -- Asian) people. So they don't get sent to prison early and often like blacks and natives.

Latinos are doing fine. This is good to hear because technically I'm 1/4 Latino...even though its undetectable visually. It also makes the fear of Mexicans seem a little stupid. Asians are doing fine (big surprise). In fact both these groups are showing more mobility than whites.

Some things that were studied and shown not to account for the difference (again, controlling for socio-economic class) are:

Genetics and the Test scores they used to measure it.

Geography -- as in, its not true that Black people in the south are more fucked than Black people in the north... from what they can tell.

Single parenthood. Single parenthood effects outcome...and there are a lot more blacks from single parent households...but there is no gap between black single parents and white single parents.

The broader implications of this stuff with Facebook (also google, twitter et al.) and their shadow profiles...is that is very fucking easy for private entities with access to this data to manufacture outrage and perhaps even protest. If you have ever gone to a BLM protest or expressed negative views about one...you can expect to be targeted with stories about the latest black-white controversy (usually regarding police).

The way in which these stories are reported are very suspicious. Generally the part where police use force and nothing else is released first...followed by a release of more of the video after the shit hits the fan.

The comment sections are spammed with hardcore racist comments. Its a known strategy to use unrealistic over-the-top comments from the opposition to increase negative views of the opposition and whip your faction in line.

For example, when Trump announced the Muslim ban, There are bots saying "This is proof that Trump is just as bad as Hitler and planing to purge the country of all minorities!" And the retards in red take the bait and feel good bashing the bots (which get bot up-votes).

Well first of all, I hate to say it. But I think the tomahawks and tough talk was a cleaver political maneuver by Trump. He lit up like a roman candle and acted like he was going to go all berzerk...the media couldn't help but start sounding alarms like our crazy president was about to go to war (against his campaign promises)..and then "Mattis calms him down" and he drops the issue like he wanted to in the first place. Russia has to save face, but I think they know whats up.

Meanwhile the chaos has been used for Israel to push into Golen Heights. They will now claim that they need to hold the area for security purposes...and then start settling the land in time. It's some of the best land around the area.

They have been pushing into Golen Heights before, slowly. They play this game where they have a tractor push into Syrian land, and then when the Syrians finally fire on the tractor -- they bombard the Syrians and move up the line to "secure the area."

This is all a big game of creeping boarders for "security purposes." For some reason they have been very successful at keeping this story out of the western press. Let me answer that question a little differently.

The vast majority of what we do in the Middle East is about Saudi Arabia and Israel*. Shit gets very tangled and Byzantine -- but for the most part those are our two allies. We've always allied with Israel out of religious bound, like-minded governments and habit.

Saudi Arbia has oil...we need oil and we work with Saudis instead of Iranians. Thus we demonize Iranians and ignore the fact that Saudis are worse. Iran, Russia, China...these are our real competitor alliance atm. There's just more resources floating around, wider disbursement of oligarchs, and just like everywhere, it is difficult to consolidate oligarchic control over the resources all at once. Hitler and the bankers.

Look into the book 'The War of Debt' by Ellen Brown if you're interested in looking in depth further because this is a fascinating subject.

When Hitler came into power, Germany was helplessly broke with the Treaty of Versailles imposing crushing reparations demanding that Germany pay EVERY countries damages from the first world war. Most citizens could not even afford a loaf a bread at this time in Germany as a result. Almost all homes were lost to private speculators and private banks.

Private currency speculators caused the German mark to drop wildly, spawning one of the worst cases of out of control inflation in modern times. A barrel full of 100 billion dollar banknotes could not even buy a loaf of bread. The national treasury was empty. Countless homes and farms were lost to speculators and to private banks. Germans lived in run down conditions. Ghettos. They were starving.

This was pretty unprecedented in history. Never happened before. The total destruction of a nations currency plus wiping out of people's personal savings and businesses. On top of this a global depression was taking hold too.

Germany had no other options but to become enslaved by the bankers. This was until Germany decided to print their own money and bypass the global banks.

Hitler began a national finance program by devising a plan of public works that included flood control, repair of public buildings and private residences, and construction of new roads, bridges, canals, and port facilities. It ain't a power struggle in Syria. It's about which pipeline will be built through Iraq and Syria originatiing in Iran or Qatar.
