Question about Maps

Hey guys, I recently started playing on this server, and love the fact that it's a representation of how EQ used to be (when it rocked the world).

However, I was a bit perplexed to see that maps are in the game. They were not in the game when it first came out, and only introduced later.

I guess I'm wondering why they were included? Also is there a way I can delete the map files so I won't be able to pull them up in game?

I know I can just remove the hotkey, but I'm human, and it's a very difficult urge to beat. I felt like one of the things that made EQ so great was the immersion of the world, and not having a map added a great deal to that.

maps dont exist for most zones, normally only cities and sometimes the new fighting area just outside of cities.

I don't think its something that can be removed or changed.

Just wipe your maps directory. Or remap the key that brings up a map (backspace?). Personally, I'm going to just delete my maps directory.
