I was watching The New Guy the other day and they had some kids who played everquest in it. One line I remember was one of the kids saying "that's like having a lvl 50 in Kunark!"

I thought it was neat and it made me wonder if there are other eq references floating around in movies, music, or pop culture. If you've seen an everquest reference somewhere please share!

it's in The New Guy because of sony.

I think the most popular thing people will mention are sounds from eq.

I remembered another one!

The movie "the nines" with Ryan Reynolds and Melissa Mccarthy. A character in the movie is a developer for everquest. Which is referred to as "evercrack" in the scene.

Those sounds aren't from EQ. They're public domain sounds that have been in movies for decades. EQ devs were just uncreative and/or poor and/or lazy.
The topic is about stuff from EQ. So I said it a certain way. I know they're public domain sounds or packages of sounds that companies bought back in the day.
You should stick to RnF. Jeez

I hear uo alligators and horses everywhere.

I've been hearing sounds from elderscrolls 2 : daggerfall in a plethora of games, especially everquest.

Yep the two I always hear in commercials/movies etc are of course the weird dragon snarl sound and the creaky door opening.

I know they mention EQ in the first season of Chuck, he played it back when he was in college.

I also remember on The Daily Show... like 10 or 12 years ago... Lewis Black showed a picture of a zombie from Plane of Hate on one of his rants.

Unfortunately the game is made by the same company so not as exciting as it could be.

I wonder if H1z1 was more successful than EQ... it sure is a lot more mainstream and popular.

Speaking of sounds, over the years I've heard tons of sound effects I recognize from Doom and Goldeneye.

Specifally the imp's death rattle in Doom, and the human screams/yelps in Goldeneye.

just saw this one (https://youtu.be/jKcTlGOtX2Q) recently, Doom sound effect looped about 15 times and EQ kodiak sound effect in the same scene. 2:32 for kodiak sound, Doom effect like 25 times before and after that.

I remember going to the movie theater, and seeing like the most badass EQ commercial's with the movie previews. Always got me pumped when i was a kid and would go to my local gamestore right after and play lol.

not exactly what you are referring.

The level unlock sound in Super Mario 3D Land is the same as the level up noise in EverQuest

It's funny you mention that quote. Because that quote has always bothered me! He says something like "that's like the 50th level of kunark!" Which doesn't make sense!

Banff "Lavastorm" is an album named after the EQ zone. Very limited run of physical CDs that were made had a screenshot from the zone on the disc. The songs don't have anything to do with EQ, but the guys in the band played EQ back in the day (and play P99 too!)
