Is there really a Server Wipe coming? I am just now thinking about getting back into EQ with Project 1999. Not sure if that's an ongoing joke or a real thing. I'm getting on the hype train for Pantheon Rise of the Fallen and a lot of people are talking about Project 1999. I like the idea of trying this server out but it seems like everyone is going to be way into the end game. A server wipe would be sweet!!

Okay! Since it is the timbre of the thread, this is my whine!

I was on my mighty 24 magician who has spent 12 levels almost exclusively sitting on the Loio spawn points, having killed 100s of couriers but not gotten a goblin ghazugi ring.

I had to take an afk break, so I /pet guard my pet somewhere safe.

I grabbed the ph mob, and trained it somewhere safe, out of assist range of my pet.

This was handy as it means I can go afk, let it beat on me but come back and don't have to re-locate the PH.

Unfortunately, despite the fact this Sarnak Youth had been beating on me for 10 minutes straight he mem blurred himself as I had taken no offensive action! Oh the indignity! I had to go to the effort of relocating this youth (fortunately it hadn't been killed by goblins nor other plays and I had kept it on target, so I could recognise its flashing name plate).

Back in my day, when I had to grind XP up hill in the morning and in the evening, mobs would NEVER mem blur themselves off you while meleeing, regardless of how long you stood there doing nothing!

10 couriers this evening, no ggr, still slowly accumulating xp from green brawlers. Less than 2 yellow now for 25!

I personally doubt a wipe is coming guys, but I bet a new server one day will.

Blue should remain as it can be a sanctuary, a forever home for the neckbeards that have accumulated so many pixels that if they were lost sudden death would ensue.

Pixels are a serious thing and talk of such catastrophic events (a server wipe) can cause extreme panic and widespread horror. Such talk should end immediately.

there are more people that would enjoy a fresh start then there are people that will enjoy their 15th fungi and 12th epic

i know this is impossible to understand if you think you have "invested" time in EQ

there is a reason D3 works with seasons, and the end-game that game has isn't half as fucked as the one on p1999

some people like playing online games. some like experiencing persistent virtual worlds. classic EQ is the latter ^^ it don't need a wipe. another server would be fun though for those who joined late and didn't get to experience raw classic :3 and it'd be fun for those who like to game and wanna race to the top. all around good for everyones ^^

Exactly. I got on p99 before velious but after Kunark. I would like to start new without a bloated market and just to begin anew with everyone else.
