my brother that lives in NYC and his room mate are getting onto P1999, and did the IP Adress request today in the forums. how log does it usually take for it to process so that they can both play?

I think mine was between 3 and 4 weeks. Kinda got tired of waiting after the first few days of hoping it would be granted quickly, so I didn't check very often after that to see when they got to it.

wow really?

that seems ridiculously long lol

Are they actually BLOCKED from both logging in at the same time without them being approved? or is it more just a nod that its ok from the staff?

because one is playing an erudite SK and the other a wood elf ranger. they wont even be on the same side of the world as each other until later on. what i'm asking is, can they both play for now and then by the time the dev's approve it, they'll probably be more closer to the level where they can start grouping together.

No. You physically cannot log in from the same IP domain unless you use some workaround program. They actually place an exemption to normally existing IP blocking rules.

It takes a while. Deal with it. They're also not very tolerant of people complaining about the wait time - and although you certainly don't have the attitude of some of the guys i've seen complain about it, complaining at all doesn't help the process. I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed processing it specifically because someone complained.

You get a message saying that you can not log on, until the request clears.

thanks for answering the question

no thanks for your bullshit. i had zero attitude and i was definitely not complaining. i was stating a fact that for something so simple, it sure takes a long time for them to process. i'm sure there is a reason why it takes so long, and i wasnt even inquiring about why.

hit the x botton on your browser and go back to newbing in the game.

It just takes a while because they do them in large batches because they get requests often enough that its a waste of development time to always be deal with them and its low priority. They only have some much free time to give to the project. I mean if you put in a request a day before they do a batch you'd get it the next day, if you put in a request the day after you're going to wait a couple weeks.

Bottom line, its well worth putting up with because if they didn't limit IPs it'd be a horrible boxfest out there.

He was trying to help and implied that you have a better attitude than the usual people complaining about the duration. Good job proving him wrong.

Haha...I've just seen them come down pretty hard on people for just "asking," albeit multiple times, why their IP exemption was taking so long.

I'll go back to "Newbing it up in game" now ;)

DO NOT message GMs on this board or in game, have patience.

Good luck!

Yea my friend and I also requested one for both of us last week because on the weekends 2 or 3 of us get together at each others houses and play EQ. Since none of us have got the IP Exemption yet we have to resort to playing the EZ server when we hang out. Its fun but it would be nice for us all to lvl together and drinking at the same time =). Anyone know if you can have 3-4 on the same IP with the exemption or is it a limit of 2?

My last request (a couple of weeks ago) took ONE DAY. Keep checking your petition forum thread daily or it might happen without you knowing.

That.

Do you have anything unique to share? or do you just like to quote people and put a 1-5 word doucheous sentence under it? yeah i said doucheous :D

another question: since my brother and his room mate are on different work schedules, they wouldnt ALWAYS be playing together. for the time being, can they log in seperately? or is the IP blocked from having another user account all together?

They can log in separately. You just can not box on this server. I.e running two accounts from the same I.P address at the same time. There is nothing wrong with having two accounts on the same I.P as long as you dont run them at the same time (Boxing).

Ok quick question, under my thread I just posted for getting IP exemption I said....

"Hello and first off THANK YOU, we have been dying for somewhere to play classic on for years, you have brought back the Everquest that I fell in love with and managed somehow to do it without a monthly fee. Youve done a great job :D

Second off, we are trying to play off the same IP and cannot due to the IP restrictions you have on the servers...If you could please allow us to use our two separate accounts it would be greatly appreciated.

I believe my brother may also have a post up as well but I am not sure. Its difficult as of now because we are trying to play together and cannot so please whenever you get an opportunity remove this restriction.

Now also I was told by players in-game it may take 1-2 weeks for someone to get around to changing this in game...So we figured we would use a proxy to change our IP until we are allowed to play on our same IP at once. This is inconvenient because that means one of us lags but its only for the time being. I figured we should let you guys know in ADVANCE so that we were not seen as doing anything wrong. The last thing we want is to get in trouble. We are just trying to play together. If you need to investigate this at all then by all means feel free. I play a necro, and he plays a druid and something else. My account info is as below...

If you need my account info it is Yoshi*** and my characters name is Innoruuks

Thank you again."

Am I breaking the rules? I dont know like where to look to see what there policy is on proxies...I KNOW that they DONT allow two boxxing and playing same two accounts by one person(I read that in rules) but if we are using the proxy in order to both separately play together until they give us the IP Exemption....Its not what we would prefer because one of us lags this way but its only until they get us the Exemption...anyways basically what I am asking is will I get in trouble because if so we will just wait and not take chances.

Personally, I assume somewhere around half of them actually have a brother, girlfriend, wife, or roommate that wants to play under the same IP address. The half are douchebags that want to play on this great server but don't want to abide by the rules that make it great in the first place.

Well my big brother who got me into the game back in 9 years ago moved to NYC, and he has a room mate who was his nerdy highschool friend who played. not even my IP adress so i'm definitely not lying. UNLESS i am working with him so that i can benefit off of his dual boxing aaaaaaaayyyy!? lol

i'm cool with the 3 week wait time because its not me waiting, so get to it when you guys get to it :D
