Back during live the highest my main ever reached was low 30's. Here on p99 im approaching 46, but for someone with no raid experience and only decent gear, is participating in dragon or god raids on p99 feasible for me?

I know only a few elite tier guilds have access to them, do they accept raid newbies? If i have to content myself with planar trash mobs thats fine, the best deserve the best mobs, but i'd love to see a god or dragon taken down at least once now that i have another chance at playing classic.

Anybody can be taught to properly raid and I think most guilds understand that. Attendance is a major issue for most of the power guilds so as long as your committed to being available when they need you and show up on a regular basis most guilds will put in the time to get you up to speed and geared up. Although its not entirely necessary to be fully geared to fight boss mobs.

Cars puts it well... If you show up, you will get gear and see dragons and gods die. Although for the latter to happen, you will have to have bat phone turned on and be available when the monsters spawn and not during a designated raid time. Could be 8pm Monday night, could be 11am Thursday morning. If you're a puss and only want to raid 9-11pm Mon-Wednesday, don't expect to get gear.

I was going to apply to KaN, but I don't have a hat and I'm lactose intolerant, so I had to settle :(

As long as you can breath and be on call 24/7 I am sure Dark Ascension or Inglorious Basterds would love to have you. I doubt you would ever get any loot since you would essentially be 1000th in line, but you would get to see a dragon for a couple mins out of a blood shot eye at 4AM.

Quite the opposite actually. I can't speak for DA, but I would assume they like IB see the majority of all gear go to apps and newer members. Most veteran members of both guild are pretty geared out. I personally haven't gotten a new upgrade in at least a few months.

all sort of joking and snideness aside, there are a good number of people in your boat currently who are many of the guilds currently doing at least planar clears, if not also dragon and god killing. casual players who have had time to hit 50 that were never in raiding guilds before. I am sure that after some converstations with some of their people in charge, they would be happy to have you apply.

What Karsten said. You're definitely not alone. I never got really far in Live and am having a blast doing things I didn't get a chance to see back in 1999.

There's so many really good guilds and people on the server. Just ask anyone around your level if they can get you in contact with an officer and you'd be welcome to tag along to most raids.

My guild for instance, being a casual raid style guild, still manages to raid almost daily. We do planar clears, sometimes up to 2 or more raids per day, have people on at all hours of the day and night, and have a few big kills under our belts. We all still manage to stay really close leveling up alts and grouping up for things.

But like I said there's a lot of really great guilds on the server and everyone is having tons of nostalgic fun. I hope you find your home with someone and, Welcome back! :)

This time period, where the upper tier guilds have completed gearing out most of their people and we are all just waiting for kunark, is actually very similar to original classic EQ. Second and even third generations of players are reaching lvl50 and gearing up their members in planar trash mobs. Right now the top tier guilds are more interested in finding/accomplishing any remaining server firsts and pay less attention to the planar trash mobs. Those planar trash mobs are on an 8 hour respawn clock and if I had to guess are dying at least 2 times per day.

i asked Nilbog how much time was left til launch and in a PM he told me "just look at the number of zones we have open, and how many we have left, and use deductive reasoning" or something like that. soo...i havent had a chance to see what zones are open/still neeed to be open. anyone wanna have a guess?

A simple thing to do is to train in the zone that the dragon is due ~ hope you are online when people mass it ~ and just run over to em and watch them take it down.



Or, an even simplier idea is to app to one of the guilds who DO kill them :p

lol my main is 12. If i had 5 level 50's, i still couldnt be bored with classic if i tried :D

just wondering, because my brother really wants to play Kunark and he's getting into the game :D him and his room mate are both getting in :D
