It pretty much works like this....

-no boxing allowed (1 char per pc)
- slightly accelerated exp (they say it'll be like ragefire and lockjaw)
-timelock progression of expansions (they release every 12wk I think...)
- it will lock, and end, on ldon.

So basically it's a pop locked server because loy is more a quality of life expansion and ldon will appeal to more casual players. So pop is basically the end raid expansion.

I'm kinda bumming I've invested so much time and money on my phinigel char though...
Because I knew once god/oow came out I would be quitting.

Anyone looking forward to it?

It has to be a rough situation for all the people that bailed p99 for phinny to see this come out after justifying rerolling, and working so hard.

press f to show respects.

I've "taken a break" to play on two progression servers during my time on p99. I've always come back, never regretted leaving to do progression or regretted coming back.

P99 and the progression servers aren't an "either or"; you can enjoy ALL of them and stuff your wacky head full of EQ until it is dripping out your eye balls. Its everything I ever wanted when I googled "classic eq servers" back in like 2006ish for the first time...

If they threw in berserkers from the start too, this would be perfect :D

That poor zerker armor in fear must have never been worn by anyone :P.

I'm pretty excited for this server. The fact the Phinigel eventually becomes a live server is always what held me back from tying it out.

So on the last unlocked expansion, it will run for 3 months then the server is wiped?

Agnarr is a time-locked progression server that will start at the base game and eventually lock at Lost Dungeons of Norrath… permanently

Gonna give it a try. Downloading the daybreak version of the game now. Played live a bit in beta, then from kunark to velious. Then came back a bit to whatever was happening in 05. Missed out on p99 until just last year. Ive always wanted to experience the base game up. I know agnarr wont be true classic progression. But it seems like itll be as close as im going to get anytime soon. I do love the p99 classic experience ive had so far and actually enjoying being a part of the endgame raid scene. But i want to go start to finish on fresh server just once. If it sucks ill come right back to mah classic p99.

This will be the most populated Live server even when it becomes locked. They will probably have to make a second one. Glad I never rolled on Phinny or the other 2.

I'm considering starting on this server. I have recently heard that Rangers really came into their own Luclin-PoP (I stopped playing EQ shortly after Luclin released), so that's pretty cool.

But Paladins have always been my favorite class. Can anyone tell me if they start to get some love Luclin-PoP, or are they still pretty much the red-headed stepchild even with those expansions?

Thanks :)

No need to lose all your p99 friends!

Just get them to roll with you in Auld Lang Syne...

Is there a thread/wiki that discusses class balance/spells/abilities/AAs/itemization in the PoP era? I know the classes got more balanced overall post-Velious, but I'm interested in the specifics of how that was achieved.

I have a 62 ranger over on phinny with around 60aas. With AM3/EQ and HS (chance to outright kill any humanoid mob lvl 60 or lower) my ranger is a beast. Paladins are pretty excellent in PoP. I haven't played one so I can't tell you specifics there, but i've grouped with them. They have exceptional healing abilities. I've seen paladins MT and MH in my groups before.

Try red server guys, locks at Velious - arguably the best expansion. Available to play right now <3

No toxic raid scene, no instances, no kronos, xp pots or cash shops.

12 weeks to unlock expansion is way too fucking fast.

P99 has proven time and times again that slow unlock is the wtg for healthy pop

Have to remember that with instanced raiding 3months means a lot more content to play than a longer expansion.

I played through velious on phinny...it was hard to keep raiding content for months on end when you had it on farm status and could instance it every week.

How is the game balance on these TLP servers? I remember years ago they kept all the balance changes from the live game, which meant casters were hilariously overpowered as they were balanced to compete with melee in full twink gear.

Just imagine the potential LDON points grind... all those cool armor sets you never bothered getting because you knew in 2 expansions you could just group easier stuff in a few afternoons ... the time comes for it now.

I look forward to playing around with the bounce proc augs again (self buff that makes enemy spells reflect back to their caster).

Pallies got some pretty sweet AAs like slay undead. Along with new spells and the two-hander update (that we're supposed to get here with next patch I believe), they had much better damage overall (and especially versus undead) and were capable of main-healing groups in most situations. Some other AAs and discs also made pally/sk closer in mitigation to warriors for tanking, though I believe warriors still had an advantage.

Gotta admit I'm pretty hard for this. I do wish the time lock was a bit longer like 16 weeks but I can take 12. And it begins in summer so velious should hit around winter woop woop. Dahhhhhh fuck, I might have to do it.

Its kind of funny that daybreak is treating this wonderful game like damn Ldon mission. I think they are missing the whole point of EQ altogether.

When the server is going to be locked at certain point I don't think it matters all that much. But for a server that is eventually going to catch up to live, slower is definitely better.

I wonder if this might mount some pressure on the staff here to start introducing a new expansion for p99 maybe in mid 2018 for luclin...but I doubt it, when BDA left to phinny nothing really changed that much in-game, just the longest winded thread in this forum's history.

Oh you can rest assured P99 will never add content. Past Velious or custom, not going to happen. Daybreak would drop the hammer in an instant with a Cease and Desist. The fact they allow P99 to continue as is, is a PR move nothing more.

I started PoP as an off-tank raid pally. By the end of PoP I was in a heal chain with druids/shamans. All those healing AA made us better healers than tanks. =(

Not going to lie, I enjoyed everything about EQ all the way through PoP. Most of my raiding experience comes from this expansion and I loved every second of it. I'm really enjoying P99, but I may give this a closer look.

I'd be semi-interested in this. Anyone have a short version of what came with LDoN? I quit live during LoY, and even then my memory is hazy.

LDoN's big thing was just lots of new instanced dungeons for various levels, interspersed throughout the existing zones. Basically an attempt at overhauling the xp grind and small-group stuff rather than adding new raid content.

Some of the LDON raids actually have very good loot...the content isn't great, but the reward was actually pretty good.

Several differently themed dungeons (Takish, the lost elves of Ro; Guk; Mistmoore; Miraguls Lair and Ro Orcs) accessed by adventures.

Several different types of adventures, including item collection, npc rescue, npc assassination through to straight ploughing through mobs.

The charm slot: items that get better under certain conditions.

Augmentations: customisable boosts for items.

After every success in a dungeon you would unlock a new lore snippet and after a few you would upgrade your charm augmentation.

Loot (duh)

Vendors for each adventure theme: earn points to unlock and buy better equipment and spells.

You could take Adventures from level 15. Adventures could be grouped or raids.

LDoN added some incredible raid augs.
