I'm guessing trying to buy a twink set of gear for an Iksar Shadowknight isn't really possible?

Of course it's possible. You just have to be creative the way monks have to be creative - find pieces that aren't set-oriented, i.e. dark mail gauntlets, Hammerhead Helm, etc...
But yes, you're probably looking at mail quality armor instead of plate.

So if i mix and match a bunch of non set pieces, is my Iksar gonna end up looking like a wad.
Does anyone who played one during Kunark era on live remember what a good set up for an Iksar SK would be to buy? A list would be amazing so i can start hunting down the pieces in ec.

Nah, Iksar look pretty cool regardless. Banded is a good start if you're not rich.

Im fairly rich, i couldn't stomach wearing banded.

Not to be a dick, but what a ridiculous waste of a thread. How about check out allakhazam instead of having everyone twink your SK for you?
edit: even easier, how about do a fucking search on THIS forum for a list.

I thought of trying Alla but was concerned i'd get info that didn't apply to Kunark era, since that site works with all expansions and the changes they brought unless im wrong. I also tried a search of Iksar SK Gear here but came up short, this could all just be a result of incompetence though.
Anyways, i figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Some people just chill on forums and don't mind sharing their knowledge i've found.

Only someone who posts as frequently as you (you gotta have the highest post/day ratio by a lot) would think anyone cares about their "post count."

Back on track...
OP, there is an iksar version of darkforge called Dreadscale.
Dreadscale Quests (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/search.html?q=dreadscale#Quests)
Edit: Just realized you're looking to buy it outright. It could be tricky to deck out your twink with dreadscale due to the fact that the questgiver is an iksar who probably hates your main. You might be able to kill the quest mobs and quickly camp over to your alt to loot...

Dreadscale Gauntlets:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: HANDS
AC: 10
DEX: +4 INT: +2
SV MAGIC: +5
WT: 3.0 Size: SMALL
Requires: 1 skeletal hand, 2 star rubies, and banded Gauntlets
The skeletal hand drops off any Charbone skeleton, easiest place to find them is in the lake of ill omen, but I have also seen them spawn in the swamp of no hope (it droped the hand as well). Charbones can be killed around high 20s with out too much hassle.
Dreadscale Bracer:
MAGIC ITEM
Slot: WRIST
AC: 8
DEX: +3
SV FIRE: +2 SV COLD: +2
WT: 1.8 Size: SMALL
Requires: 1 Bloodgill scales, 1 sapphire, and banded bracer
Bloodgill scales drop off the Bloodgill goblins in the Lake of ill omen at the bottom of the lake itself. Very easy to get, they are usually camped and will be more than willing to let you loot the scales if they drop. Bloodgills can be soloed at mid 40s, but they spawn in pairs which can complicate things.
Dreadscale Vambraces:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: ARMS
AC: 9
STR: +4 DEX: +3 HP: +10
WT: 3.5 Size: SMALL
Requires: Golra skin, 2 sapphires , banded sleeves
Golra Skin drops off Hulking Golras in Timerous Deep on the iceburg. Very rare drop. Easy to solo at mid 40s. Golra isle also happens to have been my leveling area of choice from lev35-48. easy pulling, no wanderers, good cash loot, and is a pretty obscure place that little people know about.
Dreadscale Greaves:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: LEGS
AC: 11
STA: +9 AGI: +3
SV MAGIC: +3
WT: 4.0 Size: MEDIUM
Requires: Grachnists head, Zorashs boots, 1 star ruby, Banded Greaves
Grachnist the Destroyer spawns in the goblin camp in warslik woods. He can pop about anywhere in the camp, rare spawn, but the head drops every time. Zorash spawns in the sarnak ruins closest to FM zone. Hes a rare spawn and the boots are also rare. Grachnist can be killed around mid 30s. Zorash is easy at mid 40s. largest problem with Zorash is trying to clear the ruins that are full of sarnak knights, berserkers, and enthusiasts.
Dreadscale Breastplate:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: CHEST
AC: 18
STR: +2 STA: +10
SV MAGIC: +3
WT: 6.0 Size: MEDIUM
Requires: Scorpion Chitin, Sarnak War Braid, 1 ruby, Banded Mail
The scorpion chitin drops off Large Heartsting Scorpions in field of bone. They tend to spawn past the Pit and near Kurns Tower. The Chitin is a rare drop. Can be killed in the upper teens with out too much trouble. The Sarnak War Braid drops off sarnak berserkers in Overthere. Not every Berserker has a braid, but its still pretty easy to find. Can be killed in the upper 30s.
Dreadscale Boots:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: FEET
AC: 10
STR: +3 STA: +3
WT: 3.5 Size: MEDIUM
Requires: Cactus Quills, Skeletal Feet, Fire emerald, banded boots
Cactus Quills drop of Suculents in Overthere. As far as I know any of them will drop the quills, its an uncommon drop. Killable at mid to upper 30s. the Skeletal feet drops off the Thick Boned Skeleton in Kurns Tower. He spawns in the lower level where the stalls are. The Fingered skeleton and Skeletal Cook also spawn in his place. Its a camp quest, but you can stock up on bone chips and pick up a bunch of FS weapons in the process. Part of quest is very easy at or past lev30. safer to solo it at that level as well. Im not sure what level the Thick boned is. Skeletal feet are rare.
Dreadscale Helm:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: HEAD
AC: 11
INT: +5
SV FIRE: +5 SV DISEASE: +5 SV COLD: +5 SV MAGIC: +5 SV POISON: +5
WT: 3.0 Size: SMALL
Requires: Berserker Head, Sarnak Knight Sword, Ruby, banded helm
The Berserker Head drops off Sarnak Berserkers in Overthere. is an uncommon drop, but not hard to get. The Sarnak knight sword drops off Sarnak knights in Burning wood.
Dreadscale Mask:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: FACE
AC: 6
STR: +3 INT: +3
SV DISEASE: +5 SV POISON: +5
WT: 1.0 Size: MEDIUM
Requires: Wings of the Drixie Queen, Fire Emerald, banded mask
The wings drop off a named Drixie that pops randomly in Firona Vie. Firona Drixies are the place holders for her and arer quite nasty. Can solo them at mid to high 40s. they are still quite the pain in the tail though.

I'm guessing trying to buy a twink set of gear for an Iksar Shadowknight isn't really possible?
In addition to the above stuff:
Brigandine Tunic - http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2013
Dark Mail Gauntlets - http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1591
Crested spaulders - http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1062
Bone Arms / legs - http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1300
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2229
Saph/Plat neck http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1168
Platinum Fire or Fire emerald rings
Dwarven Work Boots http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1779
FBSS http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=899
Diamondines earring http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1909
That should get you started. It doesn't have the AC of darkforge, but iksar natural AC helps make up for that. Don't mind azeth, he's... special.

Azeth was still right. All that info could have been found fairly easily using resources already stickied and all over the forums. People need to be more self-sufficient - even if you fail when you go to search for stuff, you learn stuff along the way, whereas when you ask, you get spoon-fed information and learn very little along the way.
But I also understand the point of view of someone who wants to ask so they don't waste time reinventing the wheel when they go to search for gear, so it doesn't bother me that much.
What REALLY bothers me is people asking for directions or how to get somewhere very general in-game. Really? You don't think there are maps of EQ zones and zone connections all over the freaking internet after 12 years?
I can understand asking where something obscure within a zone is, or at what loc some random landmark is - but to not know how to google "Everquest maps" and check the first 5 links is simply ridiculous.

My memory of kunark is fuzzy at best, but I thought many of the dreadscale quests were bugged or broken. Anyone remember if they actually worked?

The truth is,
Dreadscale armor will not be available during Kunarks launch. You can read the post about missing mob, a key component for dreadscale here http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25894

thetruth = pycoba ... funny how he'd be aware of a bug he brought up.
Anyway concerning the 'use search better' comments, I think threads like this do have their silver lining. They usually end up going off track by the second page and you can end up learning unrelated stuff that you might not have otherwise found out.

I dunno, this question might help other people with similar questions... Only thing i remember was treeweave was very nice for iksars?
Also... SK iksars are the freakin win, you get the cool FD animation, as well as a pet, as well as being an iksar with the regen!
and if you're twinking save up 100k and buy a fungi tunic obv.

Or you could reroll noniksar, wear a set, and enjoy all the pointless stats that you get by insisting on wearing the whole set!
