Found out several days ago while checking out a list of sandbox games, this hidden little gem of a game that seems to be getting alot of followers and beta participants. The game is called Xsyon and its set in a post apocalyptic 2012 timeframe. For the most part technology and other taken for granted things have been destroyed. Clans of people called Tribes (like guilds) can be assembled. The game features a crapload of features including actual charecter aging, mounted combat, full on crafting from chopping down tress, basket weaving, fishing etc. Terraforming! actually being able to dig into or above ground and build buildings (like minecraft). Its a full on sandbox and looks very promising. The game is set in real geographical location and will expand. The game goes live March 1st and The Prelude is happening now which will allow tribes and people to get together to establish communities. Ill be keeping my eye out on it because this game is really unique to me and something not seen in most games. Also the game has no levels its all skill based and they also just patched in a questing system. Xsyon is $39.99 with a free month and $15 a month there after. Havent bought or played it yet but have watched several youtube videos and read there forums on mmorpg and on there website, definately worth a look.

I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic stuff in general. Thanks for posting this.

No problem, in my opinion games like this that bring originality to the genre definately deserve a look. And its not themepark so like I said no levels all skill based which in my eyes makes it more realistic. Ive always felt skill based game were more realistic because in real life even human beings have skills not levels which makes since. I tried out Fallen Earth at launch and hit lvl 50 with max crafting and while the game was something diffrent and fresh it doesent seem to be like what this will. Not to mention all the stuff they promised with S4 that didnt even hit and still hasnt been put in with Fallen Earth. I think the MMO genre needs more sandbox games with innovation.

I am intrigued.
This goes ALOT more in-depth than expected, especially in regards to the world being a replica of the Lake Tahoe Basin, the section on creatures leveling like players do, and the world evolution. (player created food recipes?)
If the combat engine/character control doesn't blow, I'll likely try this.

Charecter Control seems fine from what ive seen, keep in mind combat is going to be revamped. Ive heard they are trying to do a Mount and Blade style combat for the game which I think would be awesome. Not sure if any of you have played Mount and Blade but check out some youtube videos for an idea. In the prelude beginnings everyone will mainly be focused on getting there tribe together and building settlements etc. Wanted to post something that I read from a new player who just started the game this is one of there experiences. His quote:
"Here is what I did yesterday in this game.
I was out getting some fish to eat near my tribal hideout and seen a neighbor cut down a tree and make some small logs. He grabbed one and started heading home with it (long ways off too). So I snuck in and grabbed one and took it off behind a tree a short distance off. Then I went back and grabbed another, then another, then another. By the time he got back for the 2nd hunk of wood there were only 3 left out of 18 in his stack. The rest were all hidden in the tall grass. :) I waited for him to look around while I hid, then he left. I spent the next hour carrying all my new logs back to my camp and set them up next to my fire. Ate my fish and chuckled at my good fortune. Fun fun."

That's kinda nifty looking, might have to file that away for later research.
