Do folks still buy spider silk?

Planning to farm some Spider Silk, spent some time in EC the past couple days shouting WTS stacks of it, but got nothing.

Before I invest a lot more time in farming it, is it commonly sold/bought on p99 still?

It really isn't much of a seller. If you sit around long enough you can probably sell them for 10 plat a stack. If you are getting exp there it's a nice bonus because it's stackable and weighs nothing but I wouldn't farm it. You'd be better off trying to level first in whatever gear you are wearing as more valuable loot drops the higher level you are

Yeah, the one thing working in your favor is the coldain prayer shawl quest, which required tailoring skill (which requires spider silk). If you can find a shawl-quester (or the rare "I'm doing tradeskills for fun!" player) they will probably be overjoyed to buy your silk ... but otherwise no one will be interested, so it just comes down to how long you are willing to sit in EC.

Silk doesn't sell because its incredibly easy to farm.

The Crag Spiders in EK drop like 4-5 per (1-8, but 4-5 on average) kill and spawn pretty fast, they are often camped by multiple people as well.

I hung around there for like 1-2 hours, buffing lowbies and snagging a crag that wasn't claimed here and there, walked out with 2 stacks of silk.

Ok thank you for the information. Got in my first HK group today and lets just say I've no need for silk farming anymore haha!

And thats the other reason, quickly replaced, only really for setting up lowbies with something on to keep them warm.
