Just a quick question for any of you tech folks. It took me a few years to finally get my hands on a copy of the EverQuest Titanium discs. I got the game loaded and modded just a week ago and am now happily playing on Project 1999.

I know you're legally allowed to make an archival backup of any software you own and I want to do that just in case something should happen to the original discs. My question is how do you do that? What software do you use? I'm sure any retail software is copy protected so how do you back them up, does anyone know? Thanks much in advance!

You need to create an iso of each disk. Mac can do this natively, windows does not have this function unfortunately so you'd need to use third party software

I used to use Alcohol 120% to mount images to install titanium but not sure if it does backups of the CDs itself.

These iso files are available if you know where to look.

I believe Daemon tools can be used to create disc image .iso files. What you could also do is just copy your entire EQ directory to a USB stick / external hard drive

Someone already made a back up of your discs and stored it online for you ready to download.

I'm pretty sure modern windows can make ISO files from disks.

This. If you have the discs, you can download copies legally for use in the event of failure.

So you need something like Daemon Tools? I think I remember reading that you can with that software. Thanks Phenyo.

That is what I use for things like this.

Okay so Daemon Tools will do it then. As to copying the whole EQ directory onto a stick or harddrive I thought about that, but I thought it wouldn't work if you just copied it back onto your harddrive if, let's say you formatted your harddrive to clean things off and get your computer running faster again. I thought things had to be installed and ran from the disks. You're saying you could just make a file for EQ then copy everything from the external harddrive back onto your drive and it would work? If so that's the easiest way to go! Thanks GinnasP99!

So Jimjam and RedSlave I've just got to find the place online where these files are at eh?

There's no need to back up the discs. Copy your install folder to a dropbox account or something and just download it whenever you need to play the game. I have a copy on a flash drive so I can plug and play wherever I am. Not that I've ever used it that way, but I could if I needed to.
