Greetings all,

I just ordered a copy of Everquest titanium edition and wanted to follow up and ask if anyone had any advice on what classes are needed or what zones would be best to level, it has been a long time. I started playing EQ back in early 2000 and played up until EverQuest 2 came out with a few breaks in between. I had a level 70 enchanter, 54 wizard, 40 rogue, 52 druid, and a few more alts. After playing EQ 2 for about a year I started playing Wow up until 2010. I saw a post on a youtube video about project 1999 and started watching videos on youtube, shorty after I ordered a copy of Everquest titanium and I am waiting for it to ship :). I was thinking about just doing another enchanter.

Ah drag dude. You paid for it? I mean, not that anyone here DIDN'T pay for it but...uh...welcome to P99. Play whatever you want. Lots of druids, necros and mages here. Shortage of tanks/melee dps but play whatever you want.

Hello,

it depends on your playstyle. If you like to play now and then i suggest rolling a solo class like necro (maybe best choice for soloing with kunark beeing around the corner), mage or enc should do it aswell. If you plan to join a raidguild go for a "always needed class" like cleric or pure dps rogue, monk, wizard. Bard population is also kinda low but playing a bard is not everyones business. Best zones to level in are dungeons due to exp bonus. For now most people go to oasis or unrest after leaving their noob areas - uguk/unrest/sola/MM are nice spots aswell for lower/mid level range. But this will change once kunark opens. (FoB/Loio/DL/KC/seb for example)

Greetings all,

Welcome! I played an Enchanter on live and have it as my main here. I just wanted to point out that there is a noticeable difference between how live classic Enchanters were and how they are here. Charm is quite broken on this server until lvl 39 at which point (from what I have heard) charm works much closer to what it was on live back in the day. Charm before that is VERY unreliable as it breaks much to easily and early. I played an enchanter in early 2000 and stuck with him for years and know what I should have been able to do here. People have tried tests with a lot of +cha gear with no positive results.

I still love playing the enchanter (lvl 32 now) but it sucked learning about this problem. I submitted posts in the bugs forum but from what I heard, nothing is planned in terms of addressing this problem.

If you are uncertain about what class to play, go with what you want and love or try something new. The great thing is that all of the old zones have people running around killing stuff just like the great old days.

Yeah, go with what you like. Everything else will follow.

If what you like is playing what other people won't, play an Erudite Paladin or Human Ranger.

Enchanters are freaking powerful past 39.

Not enough gnome warriors. - Only play a mage/necro if you can ignore the fact that they are broken. If you are cool with having an unfair advantage or unsure of your abilities this is a good choice. Enchanters are also broken in a similar way with wtyh being insanely effective.

Thanks for the feedback all. Yeah it has been a while since I played EQ. I have always wanted to play the original EQ again that is one of the reasons I quit EQ live, I didn’t like it after planes of power, really I didn’t enjoy it as much after Shadows of luclin. I had so many good times playing back in kunark and velious, wish I found P99 sooner. I am aiming toward a enchanter or rogue.

Halfling rogues get a 10% xp bonus and have great stats. Just a tip :D

I think she meant for under 39 charm spells :)

I agree that charisma works great on this server. The point that I was making is that it doesn't really help much for charming prior to lvl 39. This is based upon my own experiences (pre-lvl 39), the comments from others (the effectiveness of charming post 39) and the research from others who filled up on +cha gear and tested charming at low levels (in the bugs forum). The added charisma for lower level charming had a negligible effect upon the duration of charm. This was definitely not the case on live when I started my enchanter in Jan or so of 2000 and was not what I saw watching other low level enchanters in 1999. I was just pointing this fact out to the original post so that expectations for charming were adjusted accordingly.

race + class bonus = 10 iirc

You're right. I totally missed the "rogue" part, which was clearly after halfling ;)
