First of all I'd like to state I know it's not classic and all...

But is there a chance iksar will in fact be allowed to wear plate? I know the devs are overburdened as it is but iksar warrior/SK will be virtually non existent based on the fact that no one wants a tank who doesn't have gear. I personally would like to make an iksar warrior but after compiling a short list of the gear that would be useable, I knew that tanking probably wasn't going to happen. Any thought on this would be appreciated :D

Hold out till Velious and then be the best. This is a classic server trying to emulate classic as close as possible. Ikky's won't wear plate till Velious, end of story.

Just remember, it's Verants fuck up, not the p1999 devs. Their hands are kind of tied.

There are plenty of minor tweaks they could make but don't. It's the spirit of the server to go with the classic feel, despite the game being imperfect. It was dealt with once, it can be dealt with now.

At least you have the knowledge now. Back then you could have gotten to 60 thinking all this race specific non plate existed for you before realizing it was very limited and never fully implemented.

Yes. Once you get Velious quest armors, the extra AC actually pushes Iksar warriors and sks to the top of the tank list. Only problem is getting through Kunark... but Dreadscale and Greenmist (from Fear) is your way to go

That's ridiculous. Everybody knows that GNOAMS get the best defensive bonus. Being short, long battles give mobs low back pain and lowers their AC. Plus gnomes get +2 to all ankle damage!

The truth is,

I am not sure if they will implement the Fear/Hate only iksar class armors at launch. Later though iksars get they're own armor tailored to them. I believe at lvl 50 the extra ac a iksar gets is 40 or so

lol, go horatio! but..... you know..... darkforge has plate graphic on character, but not the pic of the item itself..... perhaps that could be considered to be chain by the p99 devs and add in a lil ikky love to it? lol

and yes... i know it isn't classic, but.... none of us are staring at spell books to med either, now are we

The quests were buggy and didn't work at launch. Not sure how it will play out here.

The unknown status of dreadscale is the biggest reason I won't be rolling an Iksar SK right away. I will be waiting until confirmation that either they do or do not work. There are other options out there, but you have to mix and match (not a problem unless you really care about how your toon looks).

On a side note, Iksars get a natural AC bonus that sorta balances out not being able to wear plate. Plus once dreadscale and the iksar only planar gear are implemented, iksars become one of the best choices for tanks due to this AC bonus. Even more so when velious launches.

Basically, if you want to roll an iksar tank, go for it. They won't be too much better than any other race......yet, but they will be.

Personally I get a warm feeling out of the imperfections that stick around on p99 just like the old days. That's what gives me the beginning feels of nostalgia once more. There will always be defiant players who, against all odds, will roll Iksar warriors and SK, and do really well in the overall mix end game.

It's okay. A lot of the raid gear can be worn by Iksar in the same manner that Druid planar is chain, yet they're a leather class. Twink-wise and mid-game, you'll have to be creative with itemizing obviously.

If we want to step away from talking end game for a moment, I'll throw in my 2 cents from a start up point... that is most tanks whether ogre barbarian or other still don't even wear plate. And if they do it's usually bronze.

End game iksar tanks kick some ass, at least once they get their planar gear. The issue is getting to end game. Their natural AC helps mitigate the problem, but not completely. As others have said, you need to get creative in finding gear. Just use the database and sort for either SK or WAR, and iksar usable. Then look for your stat of choice: AC, HP, STA, STR, INT, whatever you prefer. Then start making choices.

On a side note, if/when dreadscale quests work this topic will be moot for SKs. Dreadscale is every bit as good as darkforge and will take an iksar SK all the way to end game (with strong other slots).
