Am I missing something? Or is it just cause players have a ton of money to dump into a ranger to make them a viable alt to play?

They're a fun class. Once you've min maxed you may as well min to the max!

I know this may come as a surprise but rangers are actually quite good, not bad.

Wizards, on the other hand..

Qft. I was surprised how much fun my Ranger was. And with a fungi and cof, he was even sort of strong!

My favorite character on Live was a ranger, I first had a half elf... then later on made a halfling and took that character to cap level. I loved to hate my halfling ranger, god he was so stupid looking. :p

Rangers good. Halfling Rangers...an abomination.

yeah and the best part I had him on the pvp server, so imagine dying to a halfling ranger. That only made the death worse imo.

Is the xp penalty out? All anyone used to say around these parts was 'oh boy wait till the xp penalty is gone, in velious there will be all kinds of rangers everywhere'

Fungi+chloro+greater heal+bind wound
Damage shield + spike coat+call of earth all stack DMg shield
Couple nukes/dots
Good snare, decent root
Archery is safe damage
Harmony, calm animal, fear, invis, sow
91% haste with sky cloak and epic... 111% archery haste with quiver
Endless arrows
50% slow with epic or swarmcaller slow

Easy Aggro control with taunt/flamelick or aggro dump with jolt.

Great 55+ class for farming dungeons

And track... the range and sorting of it is unrivaled

I was practically cyberbullied on Live for being a ranger main. I still think it's a fun class, and a capable DPS/utility class and glad to see more on p99 that aren't just rolled for track.

Recently rolled one to add to my alt army. Was going to twink the hell out of it but just started playing and having a lot of fun.

I will take some credit for this as i know 4 who have told me from guild that they started a ranger because of me. Ranger is awesome. Those who never hit 60 will never know the power. Luclin made them even better, sadly...

What do people solo on their rangers at 60?

I've not attempted anything too impressive. I've done most of the TT cycle stuff (sadly not harbringer iksar face) and the Frenzied Velium Broodling (which would have been much harder had I not had PoTG on), but mainly ranger seems strongest at ploughing through greens (with their low avoidance skills and decent DS helping out).

What is the class really capable of?

Well I mean a level 60 Ranger with raid gear gets some powerful tools. A slowing proc epic, a clicky haste to stack with worn, regen, attack buffs, ability to kite while maintaining damage through arrows until you have favorable melee conditions. I know back on Kunark a level 60 Ranger could solo Lucan dlere, pretty impressive imo. As long as the mob doesn't summon..

If you can snare/root it and doesn't summon, you can kill it. Even indoors if room to kite and maybe some sow pots.
Face tanking really high end mobs solo with no fancy pots or clickies never really worked out for me, but it doesn't for most melee.

I solod TANTOR on my ranger. Granted he was 61 with archery aas at the time.

Anyone remember calling them GARs from live? They are super handy now IMO.
