Question about Phenocryst Focus

All right so I'm completing the "Velium Focus" quest:

and I just came back from about a year break. I do have a Velium Focus in my inventory but I'm not sure which steps I completed. Is there a way to know which one it is, like if I give the wrong one to Phenocryst, am I going to lose it?

If you had logs turned on you can search through them for the quest text from either Phenocryst or the geonids to help you determine which step you're on. If you don't have logs or can't figure it out from the logs you do have you can try identifying the Velium Focus to see if there are any clues in the item's lore.

If all of that is still inconclusive I'd just turn it into Phenocryst. Two of the three different versions of the Velium Focus go to him, and even if you're wrong it's relatively easy to get back to that point in the quest.

I'm not sure if the different iterations of the focus have different IDs, but do an /output inventory and try googling the item ID?
