I'm pissed, for lots of reasons. I don't want my accounts to get pentalized but I do want them out of my reach for a period of time. Does anyone know if GM's will do a temporary ban that won't show up as a black mark on someone's accounts, or do HAVE to do something bad first?

Lol if you don't have the control to not play EQ I think you have a problem.

Why are you so mad?
Hmm...try submitting a petition in-game? Or a forum petition, if you don't mind waiting.
Or...ban yourself. Uninstall, block the p99 website at the command line, and find another hobby.

Yeah... and probably not the only one.

I admit I have a problem and EQ isn't the only one. At least I admit it, and try to do things to help myself, I wonder how many others out there refuse to admit they have a problem, much less do anything about it. I'm not here to discuss my personal problems or get comments about what they may or may not be. I'm just asking a question.

Then to answer your question. No they won't waste their time dealing with your personal issues of not being tempted to play.
You will have to break the rules to get suspended

Sounds like you are not having fun. Send your account info to sorn, tupakk, or expediency (me) and the Dept of Fun will change your PW and only give it back if/when you host a player-run event.

I think you should also make a clause that they can get it back if they are going to RP and write RP stories. There are certain behaviors a p99 player can engage in which are inherently unaddictive because they don't create the pixel chase.
ANyway this would be kind of amazing if DoF starts holding people's accounts for them. Server heroes.

Wot
no, don't do this
also we can only change the password if we have access to the forum account and I refuse to take responsibility for this. It is up to the player to take control of a gaming addiction.

I didnt event consider the logistics, it was a joke. Of course we are not holding accounts hostage for event planning

Yeah, you can request that they suspend you. In fact Derubael suggested I do that very thing while I took an extended break for my account's uh.. protection.

I did successfully self-exclude a couple years ago for a full year. Asked to ban all my accounts for a year and they did. They were very helpful. I had to list every character on every account with class, level, name, etc, per server. If you have a lot of accounts across the servers it actually takes a ton of time and you have to be 100% precise.
After about 11 months I was really eager to get my accounts back and was literally counting days until I could regain control, but the self exclusion period gave me a child, at least doubled my net worth and allowed to shed pretty much all extra weight I had (something like 6 or 7 kilos which isn't nothing).
It's very worth it. Do it, you'll love it. If you do it, I recommend you get every single account of yours banned, no exceptions - including mule or tracking accounts.

I bet Derubael suggested to suspend your account
Hang in there OP help is on the way

Good luck preventing yourself. It wouldn't work with me, I would just make another account and play anyway. Have fun and deal with your issues.

I remember Derubael.
I actually have found myself appreciating some of his work better since he has been gone, as he created some decent posts explaining camp policies and stuff like that, stuff I didn't know he wrote on.

Easier said than done for some people. It's good that he recognizes his weaknesses and is at least attempting to do something about it.

Holidays sometimes make us realize unsettling or disturbing truths about ourselves and our families. I have in the past struggled with wanting to play games more than interact with real people to the point where I have had to internally tell my self that I need to cool it. Its not really escapism for me so much as it is the OCD/autism involved of leaving something incomplete...it bothers me... but the truth of it is I just really enjoy playing repetitive video games for false senses of accomplishment (thanks dad). I got hooked on Balloon Tower Defense 5 for like 2 months for periods of time I would rather not discuss.

That was towards the end of his time here as a GM, and he had developed a pretty severe god complex by then. His camp rules were absolute garbage, coming from a good albeit crazy place, but still garbage and not as well thought out as he was sure they were. They were, thankfully, never enforced.

Well, I am speaking about one post in particular I think it was on the AC camp. His policy on that was straight and logical imo. Not sure when he wrote it, etc.

Amazing our server staff is willing to help out ppl with problems.
Good luck op. I found that once I got out in rl enough to enjoy exercise again, get a new girlfriend, and refocus my grind energy on Making money, it became easy not to play EQ.
Then you can test the waters again.

Yeah I know. I wasn't saying he was dumb or anything, just that it wouldn't work with me. Then I wished him luck and the hope that he gets his problems dealt with.

Don't have time to look that up, but think the long and short was extended list craziness involving people not present at the camp and forcing people to pass a camp to you etcetcetc.
A camp list is one person long, whoever I choose to pass it to, which in my case will be the person waiting next to me the whole time.
