View Full Version : Bread Questers - stop pulling quest npcs to the bridge!

The npcs bug out, you can't turn in quest items, you got to wait for the "puller" to fetch the npc when it chases after them or when the NPC begins to walk back to it's natural spawn spot... I know people trying to be helpful, but this is annoying. Just stop it.

If someone was willing to stand around with him charmed, that may work.
I've never done the quest so cannot confirm any trickery.

Does it mess turn ins up if they are then rooted + blurred, I sometimes charm the merchants in Oasis and bring them to the groups fighting crocs, and then break charm and root them. After I mem blur the agro off, people can vendor shit.

Wrong. When NPCs are aggro'd you can't turn in. There's nothing buggy about it.

Works great if you got high lvls that lock down both NPCs but fact is that generally aint the case.
Also, trolls are coming to the bridge to kill the quest NPCs. That only wastes time too. So w/e. I am almost done here won't matter for me soon.

the difference between a highly populated server and a low pop server is that you have quest NPC's on either side of the zone and 30 replies in under an hour when someone is yelling about a cheep quest to skip content and on a low pop server we just have fun.

If you were to pull the Quest NPC to bridge then snare and camp/zone to mem blur they will stay there till snare fades. IIRC high level snares can last a good number of minutes, especially the druid ones.

Annoying? It's literally turning a 4+ minute turn-in cycle into a 10-20 second turn-in cycle. It's saving a lot of time.

Put me down as wagering this quest will end up getting nerfed before the Chardok patch /end of Karana's plague if people are exploiting it pulling both NPC's to zonelines so players can get that much xp for no effort, plat, or real time investment.

Yeah because 4 mins game time for awesome XP and plats is too hard? Give me a break dude. You should play WOW or some other modern MMO with that lazy attitude.
I outlined the problem when people do this exploit, aint repeating it.
If you can't handle running a toon for 4-5 mins for 5-15% XP per turn in depending on your level, you are hopeless.

It also removes any of the risk involved imo. Normaly the lowbies would have to traverse more of the zone and avoid higher lvl mobs.

Cost benefit analysis and risk management is a huge part of EQ, so people finding ways to shortcut quests are in fact playing the game correctly.
I'm sure the innkeeper and baker are very pleased that a business liason was able to arrange a common ground for them to meet on (the SK bridge) so they could optimise their contract negotiations/turn around.

More and more I find my initial emotional response is the wrong one for different circumstances.
This post here has enlightened me. I never thought of it from the perspective of the Centaur and the Innkeeper. My own lack of empathy saddens me.
Breadquesters, by all means help these two fellows out as best as you can! By all means, if they both are too stupid to understand the logistics of their dilemma, feel free to force them into a better predicament so the bread can be run faster!

Love how salty certain people in this thread are because untwinked new players can grab XP at a rate faster than they'd like. I'm sure most of these people toss Fungi / haste items on their lowbie melee without thinking its "ruining the spirit of the game".
It's basically just envy, they wasted hundreds of hours leveling their original toons in bronze and don't want "newbies" to progress faster than they feel comfortable.

They're definitely role-playing as bread delivery persons. It looks like some people are upset that the players have found a way to maximize their efficiency and profit, though. It's kind of like the UPS minimizing left turns across traffic in real-life. The people complaining here definitely seem to be the type that would complain about UPS taking fewer left-hand turns.

Would it be against the rules if a villainous enchanter charmed one of the more dangerous monsters in the zone and parked it next to these quest non-playing characters, assuming this tactic could be accomplished?
In the grand scheme, I am a relative newbie overall and do not know all the ins and outs of the game. I just play it "as is" for fun.

Let's be fair. Nibble was griefing 10-20 players at a time by killing their Quest mob. For hours on end, for days on end. If we figure he policed the Bread Bridge for 2 hours a night, 5 nights in a row, and stopped 10 players from their quest, he effectively wasted 100 elf hours (conservative estimate). Under any circumstance this player would get suspended for zone disruption/whatever.
On the other hand, they nerfed the quest super hard at the same exact time. To the point where it's not even worth doing anymore.
I read this as "you overstepped as a vigilante, but the Authorities agree that this has gotta change." So they slap him on the wrist and take over as the server police by fixing the exploit.
I consider this a badge of honor for old Nibblewitz, and I hope he wears it proudly.

I was a fairly notorious griefer back in my early 20s, so I understand the implications of what he was doing, thank you. That doesn't change the fact that he got suspended for killing an NPC. Completely legal. That it happened to be quest NPC a bunch of exploiters want to do buisiness with is irrelevant. If inconviencing other players by killing mobs is illegal, A/A is overdue for a permaban.

You have every right to kill any NPC you want for any reason. That it happened to grief people exploiting an over-tuned quest is only more reason to do so. I don't know if you ever got a chance experience chardok AE. It was the absolute best way to get to 60 on P99. I helped get that shut down with a few other activerrorists, notably Swish and Lune. That's what I'm most proud of during my time with this server. Nibble's activerrorism got his quest nerfed too, so mission accomplished.

8. You may not disrupt the normal playability of a zone or area.
Zone/Area Disruption is defined as any activity designed to harm or inconvenience a number of groups rather than a specific player or group of players. This includes, but is not limited to::
Seems pretty clear cut to me.
Cecily

Absolutely, because killing a mob is the same as disrupting a zone. Should go ahead and petiton people camping AC and Pained Soul while we're at it since we're asking for a seriously creative interpretation of area disruption.
Just file it under life's general rule of DBAC and move on. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

nibble is the most powerful wizard in the server, with such spells in his repertoire as:
Rotation Bane
Salty Tears of Nibblewitz (his own creation after years of officering BDA, it's an area of effect mass Charm spell that deals massive psychological damage to himself and triggers an Enrage effect on the poor gnome)
Corruption: Loot Council (my personal fave, thx for those Puppet strings and cobalt greaves bud!)
and the especially effective
Summon: Gorenaire as Gateway Mob
Don't cross Nibble or you may find the entire architecture of the server working against you. Did I mention his first spell at level 60 crashed the entire GFay zone?

Both the pre-nerf XP and the nerf are classic. The research we did before it was implemented showed that it was meant to give the whopping XP and was nerfed in the July 24th patch. The sudden explosion of people doing it here served as a reminder that the nerf was overdue.
I don't recall seeing posts or threads where people were dragging Jarlen Meadowgreen to the zoneline and snaring him, however. Not that it wouldn't have been possible... but Verant/SOE likely would've done something about it even sooner.
