Hello, I'm Sankis! I just joined 4 or 5 days ago and so far have been having a blast.
I'd previous played Everquest on Live from June 2000 until early 2002 when, I believe, the price of the game raised from $10 a month to $15. Unfortunately being only 14 at the time I could no longer afford the cost of the game. Though I'd end up trying the game again years later, It had changed way too much and was no longer the game I'd remembered. In my time playing on the official servers, I played a variety of characters on the server Fennin Ro, I think? I doubt any oldbies would remember me as I had a chronic case of altitis and never managed to get a character past level 28.
For the past few years I'd been eyeing Project 1999 but was incredibly wary due talk of drama and a hostile community. Recently, though, a friend got into the server and talked me into joining him. I'm very glad he did. It's only been a few days so far but so far everyone I've talked to in game has been remarkably friendly and helpful. I can't tell you the number of times a random druid, cleric, or enchanter buffed me as I sat camping Kobolds in Steamfont, for an easy example. While nothing will ever really completely replace that era of Everquest, I'm really excited to do the Qeynos/Freeport run again, to be terrified during night in Kithicor, to hang out in original freeport, to get completely lost in the Karanas, or to die to that damn Dark Elf in Crushbone. Most of all I'm glad that I may finally get to see see the parts of this game that I missed out on so long ago.
