Hi everyone! I have never played Everquest 1 before and I decided to join because I wanted a more challenging and community-driven MMO experience. Nice to meet you! I've decided to make a human paladin.
I am at level 4, but I'm wondering about how stats work.
1) How much do your starting stats matter?
2)How do they level up? I'm at level 4 and they are the same as when I started.
3) Lastly, here is what I put my stats into without much knowledge about the game: 5 into str, 10 into sta, and 5 into wis.
So my starting stats look like: 90 str, 90 sta, 75 agi, 75 dex, 85 wis, 75 int, and 85 cha.
I would rather not reroll, but would it be best in the long run to do so?

Doesn't really matter, but as a Paladin your most important stat will be wisdom because it gives you more mana and you should put all of your points into that.
Your spells cost very little, and as such, a little wisdom goes a long way.
Stats don't level up, items with stats increase them. Stam gives you hp, wisdom gives you mana, dex makes your weapon effects happen more often, and str increases your average hit. Int does not affect paladins and cha will only increase your chance to successfully lull, calm, or pacify a target.
The order of importance for a paladin is as follows: Raw HP -> Raw Mana -> Wisdom.
You don't need to reroll, your stats are fine and you will likely never think about these minor difference in mana pool your wisdom would have made.
Welcome, by the way.
TL;DR: It doesn't matter - Welcome to P99.

Your stats won't go up when you level, but the benefits they provide do increase. So for example, your 85 WIS won't increase with leveling but your mana pool will increase because each point of WIS is worth more mana after leveling up.
Basically if you want to see how your pally is improving then keep your eye on your mana pool and not your WIS. Similar for other stats.

Experience > the rest
With levels come more options for aquiring any gear you might want.

I don't know much about playing Paladins, but that doesn't seem like a terrible point distribution to me and I doubt you'll come to regret it.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the love and information! Can't wait to see you all online!
I think you did your stats perfectly for a human

It doesn't matter much to be honest.
If you want an easier time in early game, go str/sta - if you want to be at your best at level 60 with lots of raid gear, go wisdom.
If you dont plan to raid much and mostly group, i'd even argue that charisma is worth considering. Running around in Sebilis and similar areas I find myself using a lot of lulls and pacify.
I personally went all sta with rest in str. I'd probably go full wisdom if I could do it over, but its really no big deal.
No matter what you do, you wont be gimped.

Starting stats don't matter a whole lot. Min/max paladins will argue between stamina and wisdom for high end but honestly I think your starting stat choices are just fine.
