If MQs get disabled then people just sell loot rights. The amount of socking required to get something like that done is way higher than with the current regime. If it's harder to find a buyer then prices will adjust accordingly, and the usual farmers still won't have any incentive to give up camps. Shit will just get worse

I just dont get how a cleric could have trouble getting an epic, dont you and your guilds take care of your clerics on blue? On red if you are a cleric you get an epic for free from your guild, because red players sympathize with the most cucked little dicked horrible class to play.

IMO there is no way to change the real world virtual economy we have on these servers, other than nerfing them and making the game more like world of warcraft.

either love the game for the emergent mechancis that make it fun to play 5+ years without expansions, or play another game IMO it doesnt make sense to turn this into live for the same shortsighted reasons that daybreak did, or blizzard.

the truth is, yes of course you're right, MQ does hurt the game, but it hurts it by making people that it bothers leave, to play other games, that are more casual.. then the few sickos that play here for 5 years, its working great.

I will give a very short version of it. I was going to post a log but i will not. I will also be very biased on me telling what went down. For the RNF ofcourse :). Hamor joined us on his shaman. Asked me if was good idea to sell a Cleric EPIC to help pay for his shaman epic. After a short discussion encouraging him to just contribute to the raid force so we can engage it more often more efficiently w.e and he would get it soon enough. I did however offer to if he wanted to, kill RF for him on his cleric let the guys roll on loot and he could sell his MQ... As just selling a cleric MQ alone is almost atrocious enough when we had several that needed. I advised him his best bet would be to camp the turn in mob and get the timer so we could have a reasonable idea of when to have a few guys ready to help him when it popped next time. rage fire popped on a early Sunday morning after Hamor faced it for over 18 hours. It was my daughters birthday so i wasnt able to help him when it popped. I told him I was sending a guild alliance group of 60's to come turn in there pearl, in return the alliance would be on call for the next spawn and we all agreed to ignore our own clerics needs and allow him to loot it for MQ as he did the work to get timer. He had apparently a few friend or something out of guild he was gunna give the loot to (rustle) for killing it for him right then. Well my alliance showed up first and got the kill and told me they be rdy for the next one for him. Well he left the guild and told me i screwed him over by not giving him the first pearl! here is a short log of me telling him the plan before hand.

If you consider "screwed over" following exactly what the plan was from the beginning. Which was to have him get timer so we could be ready the second the time it popped. Now granted I know Hamor sat there and faced it forever and was upset that we weren't able to come help him when it popped the first time. Which he obviously wanted to and I did want to help him with was just a bad timing on pop. The second time we engaged it he didn't even use his own Pearl. So he got the epic on his cleric and the MQ to sell for his shaman. The thorn in my side mostly comes from not at least leaving the now unwanted clickie cleric in guild for maybe a favor here and there. Or for even attending one raid with either of the toons we were helping. Or from not making a donation to the guild bank for making the kill, allowing him to loot for his epic, and to keep the Pearl to MQ. Really just entertainment for the RNF. Just giving the guy a little shit from an old wound.

A lot of slippery slope bullshit about might as well play Live. For all of Live's faults, there were some positive changes that actually made the game better.

It wasn't changes to a few game mechanics that turned Live to shit. It was each expansion making all previous expansions obsolete that killed it.

It won't happen here, but maybe someday someone will start a server that aims to create the feel of classic, but doesn't adhere to easily exploited mechanics.

By the powers that have never been vested in me, I am here to present my ruling on the case of Khaall Drogo (Plaintiff) vs. Castamere (Defendant).

It is somewhat apparent from very confused anecdotes that Castamere secured Rage timer and had a chance to turn in pearl. He informed the Khaall of this fact, but the raid force Khaall sent stole took Ragefire from Castamere.

There was a brief time of separation before a passionate reconciliation.

Castamere proceeded to secure a second Ragefire, and this time Khaall Drogo's <Second Sons> showed up. They supplied a pearl to Ragefire, killed the dragon, giving the still-beating dragonheart to Castamere in order to fund his shaman epic quest. The Sons raped the corpse of its remaining treasures.

Castamere then abandoned the <Second Sons> in less than a week.

Here the evidence becomes unclear. Did Castamere proceed to use his second pearl to create another Ragefire kill? Has he looted a secondary heart while creating an epic'd cleric? Based on the evidence at hand, it seems he has done so. Defendant rested his case without enumerating this fact and I fear it will work against him.

Plaintiffs argument is that Castamere should then have reciprocated by donating to the Second Sons, or perhaps leaving his "unwanted epic cleric" in the guild is ruled as a MISTRIAL.

As everyone knows, it is standard operating procedure for a Ragefire socker to exchange the extra Ragefire loot for the help of a greater force to slay the dragon. Castamere camped Ragefire not once, but twice. While he did not use his own Pearl for the Heart, Khaall's inability to control his Alliance with the evil guild <Veloci Shift> is the basis of this mistrial.

HOWEVER:

I. The court finds Castamere guilty of being Kind of a Dick as he abandoned the <Second Sons> mere days after achieving his epic lewtz. While this behavior is characteristic in the Dark World of P99, it should not be encouraged or rewarded.

The Council's verdict is that Castamere will be branded on his left butt-cheek marking him as Kind of a Dick.

We are not, however, without mercy. Should Castamere create another Ragefire spawn with his own pearl and donate the heart to the <Second Sons> or to another cleric in need, this brand will magically be erased and he will return to the good graces of the Forums.

II. The Council finds Khaall Drogo in DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE PROJECT 1999 NAMING CONVENTIONS AND SUGGESTS TO GMs IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF HIS ACCOUNTS, DISSOLUTION OF HIS GUILD, AND PUBLIC SHAMING UNTIL HE HAS RENAMED ALL TOONS TO BE IN ACCORD WITH OUR LAWS

I agree with the devs stance than no ones internet connection or pc could handle a zone wide AE without lagging out and disconnecting.

Except they could, not everyone's, but it was possible. I witnessed it happening back in 2000. Had to go to my friends house to play with the bard though, as my rig/connection couldn't handle it and my friends could. The thing I never witnessed though was "FTE races" and training the entirety of ToV to tag a single mob out. Never ever saw that happen on my server. But apparently, shits classic.
