Hi there guys
Looking for some advice. Wanted to try my hand at SoW pots and got the trainer to train me up to skill level 21 but it says that i need to "learn advance trade skills in the field"
Does that mean I need to get the rest of my skills by combining stuff in the bag or do i need to find a different trainer?
Never done this before, thanks for any heads up you're able to give me :)

Good luck, it takes quite a lot of plat to level it up to 170. And the profit margins ain't great.

Alchemy is skill capped by level, like most your melee/casting skills are. I can't remember the formula, but basically at the start you won't really be able to skill up as the skill cap will be really low.
For anyone reading who hasn't started Alchemy yet, I heard a good move is to wait until like level 30 to train so you start at 30 instead of 21 skill points.

You cant add points after reaching a skill of 21 with any tradeskills. You will need to do combines 22+. This doesnt include spell research.

The *very* first thing you want to do, though, is go to EC and buy a Bearskin Potion Bag (https://wiki.project1999.com/Bearskin_Potion_Bag). Keep in mind that you can not combine reagents in this bag to make the potion, so you still need to carry around a Medicine Bag (https://wiki.project1999.com/Medicine_Bag).
So the bear skin potion bag is for practice?

Me too. Was hoping to get to 37 the easy way LOL

No, you use it to combine 1 charge pots into 5 or 10 charge ones. Read the wiki on Alchemy:
To create 5 or 10 dose potions, put 5 or 10 of the single dose potions in a Bearskin Potion Bag and combine. This is independent of skill and always succeeds.

The bearskin potion bag is for combining 10 single charge potions into one 1 charge potion

Thanks guys, gonna look into this today. Thinking it might be a more affordable alternative to 5-7k jboots

For the record, and it is quite an important point for several reasons, SoW potions are NOT instaclick, unlike jboots, and are much longer cast time than even tboots.
Even if you have J-boots it can be worth carrying a 10 dose of sow, 'just in case' (or vice versa).

math:
1 charge = 41 minutes
10 charges = almost 7 hours
~6.8 hours of playtime in a single day = get a life
410 hours for 60 sow pots = that's a shit ton of play time
I don't think a level 10 gets a 41 minute sow from a potion...
