ok so me and a buddy are starting alts up, he's making a shaman, and im torn.. i kind of want a tank(a melee) - any opinions on what would be best? - already know monk, looking at other options

Besides monk.. SK, Pally would probably be next. necro/ench/mage maybe? not sure how that would work

SK is the best "tank" combo with shaman.

Monk is the best general "melee" combo with shaman.

It wouldn't be "bad," but pulling is a pain. SK and monk both have feign and other utility skills.

if you have feelings about what you feel like playing then go with that.

I remember playing back in the day and some people played what was really "good" or very demanded, but they simply didn't enjoy the game as much. Sure it's nice to be in demand and get a fast group, but what's the point if it's only half as fun?

I knew more than a couple people who simply quit the game or that character and went back to what they actually liked. When it's all said and done, the game is a grind so you may as well enjoy the grind!

If you are always duoing, you will split that penalty with your friend. It won't be so bad.

if you are worried about the xp penalty, then go troll sham (uless barbs have less of a penalty, in that case go with barb) and human monk. xp penalty will be low and you'll kick ass together.

plus when kunark comes out, the monk (if geared up) will be soo pwn

shaman/necro, I don't understand why this combo doesn't get more attention. Yeah yeah shaman/monk seems to be all the rage but coming from someone who played a shaman till 60 don't underestimate the shaman/necro duo.
