View Full Version : Inaugural Open Vox Raid Sept 11 (Monday) @ 1:30 p.m. U.S. Eastern
Dear nerds,
Thanks to the efforts of many, an accord has been struck. Open Vox and open Naggys will be taking place every month.
This is (hopefully) the first of many classic dragons which we, as a server, will lynch together as a community and friendship building exercise.
I am proud to see the support come in from all sides. This opportunity has been made possible by guild leaders and casual scum alike. Thank you for participating in the previous threads and helping to get this ball rolling.
This raid will be led by the venerable Cloki, leader of Omni Guild.
See details below!
Raid start at 1:30p.m. U.S. eastern on Monday, Sept 11.
If you want to participate and don't have a toon of the right level, higher-level toons are welcome to come in support.
This is going to be the first one, so it will be much like the pilot episode of a TV series. Kinks to work out, roles to define, etc., so I'll pre-ask for patience and for everyone to follow instructions.
And tho these dragons can be killed with low numbers, they're no joke, either - lots that can go wrong including floor traps, aggroing more giants than we need, Vox casting a successful Complete Heal, etc.
For those of you participating, this fight is about two things:
1. Not getting feared. That means that you should have MR in every slot that you can have it in. No amount of MR is too much MR for this fight. If you're perma-feared, you're more of a liability than an asset.
Jewelers can make MR bracelets, neck, and rings. That's kind of a baseline minimum so see if you can find those. Also see if you can get a "Greater Null" potion from a shaman. That's great additional MR.
2. Vox tries to complete heal. And there's really no reason to have to kill her several times (effectively) until she's OOM.
The way we counter her healing is to push from the SAME SIDE with fast weapons (no 2h weaps on Vox, please) to interrupt her casts. I'll explain this more day-of, but it's a thing. A key to victory.
-----------------------
This is the first schedule-able Vox of the month. Expect the first Naggy open raid on or about 9/25.
Thanks for your support all the way around - both for attending, and making this possible by leaving this frosty one up.

Loot rules?
Loot rules?
Everyone can roll on everything (assuming L46-52).
I'd really hope that people would be sane and not roll again if they've already won something (long odds, I know).
Or if the raid could figure out how to put a white scale on a deserving bard.
Or if people could be polite and defer (I won't be rolling on anything, for example) to those who might need more. (Tho I'll likely show up on L60 Cloki to lead.)
ALL that said, everyone rolling on everything is probably the sanest way to approach it for an open raid.

Make the loot open to all and then just pick a number... that person picks.... then the next... most of her stuff is tradeable so that's a plus.

Ugh, I understand change in timing due to window but 6am so much better than middle of work day lol
Ugh, I understand change in timing due to window but 6am so much better than middle of work day lol
Better for some, worse for others. But we'll do this for a while if people stick to the agreement. I suspect the RNG with the times will delight and confound everyone before the initiative ends.
Part of the reason for going with "end of window" is so that no one person has to be a lightning rod for scheduling.
We can all direct our ire and cursing at something inanimate.

My chance to finally make a cloak.
My chance to finally make a cloak.
Brutal! Though would go very well with a Red Dragon BP, no?
This is going to clash with my Dancing Israeli fancy dress party i hold this day each year in Felwithe.

I'll try and be there on my 52 warrior Scoopz. Good agro weapons, 160ish MR unbuffed, have done many Voxes.

I just parked my (recently sacc'd) level 52 Epic Cleric at the entrance to perma. Name is Abbathor. I'll re-log him on around 1PM EST.
My dreams of getting my monk some MR gear were dashed with no jewelers on in EC tunnel so I'll be there on my druid. Ports will be available from when I'm on up to about 1:15pm EST! PST Tadhg :)

Grats to everyone who won items, and big thanks to everyone who organized!
Bummed I missed this, as it was right in the middle of the work day for my time zone, but hopefully I can see you at the next one!
Also, meant to say - on the pally book...only pallies rolled. It was open to everyone - but everyone else showed some good discretion and saw that it ended up in the hands of a pally.
That was one of the best parts of the raid! Thank you!!

How many people showed? How many 46 - 52 and how many 53+? Or better, does anyone have a /who? Would be interested in seeing how many unguilded people showed, and how many from individual guilds.
Grats to the winners.

Grats everyone. I couldn't make this one but hopefully the next one.
Well done Filbus and Cloki for getting this going. Also props to A/A/other raid guilds for not cock blocking this, I was skeptical that a small /anon force might end up stealing it but I was wrong.

This was taken just before engaging Vox (might've been a few dead people at the time, was a bit chaotic with bear pits being trained after a few got lost).
Anyone over 52 was there to help clear to Vox and buff. A couple 52 toons were there for tanking/push.

I think not this upcoming. But the next. So on or around the 25th?
We still need to dial this in. The agreement didn't account for earthquakes so from where you count might be an issue.
I think the best call would be on/around the 25th, but I'm open to be persuaded either way.

Let's run it this time around the 25th. After that we'll move the raids back to the proposed weeks; I think there will just have to be some dynamic adjustment whenever repops happen to accomodate the server at large :)

I'm going to derail this thread just a bit since you're already talking about Naggy now, but I always thought an underwater open raid of Faydedar could be fun...
But grats on Vox, that's awesome that it worked out so well!
