Currently Banned?

My account is marked as currently banned, but I am 100% unsure of what I could have done to garner a ban. Is this a known issue at the moment or was I actually banned?

I know if you "ks" someone, and they petition you, you will get smacked with a suspension with no knowledge as to why.

You will have to come to forums, and ask in the petition section for an explanation of why you were banned and how you were a bad boy/girl and for exactly how long you are to be punished.

That, or perhaps you did some other infraction you are not aware of... Check here via the petitions section though, they will answer you.

Does it say your account is banned or that you have an IP block? The latter means your IP still has a character in world, usually caused by going LD /q and trying to log back in right away or you're trying to log in a second account.

Yeah. "Banned" means suspended here, I guess. You just been temporarily banned, for being bad. Or, it could be mistaken identity, OR error; technical or human.

This was not funny at all, Robin Williams was dear to many people, including his son and family, and friends; some who may or may not have played on P99.

It is not funny or cool to poke fun at the death of others, especially when they were legitimately loving and loved people... Poor taste in this circumstance.

Got it resolved - was completely my fault, due to offensive character names. The P99 staff is being super generous and allowing me to continue to play on P99 after a few name changes/character deletions.

It's not at all proof (heck it's not even about his son), but as I mentioned in a previous thread my cousin was a paid GM at SOE. It was common knowledge there that Robin himself played EQ, as a wood elf ranger. He wasn't the only famous person either, but he's the only one I can remember.

I'll admit doing it was quite dark, but it wasn't intended to offend...just give people a laugh and pay tribute. Comedy and satire are huge in the UK - it's in our dna. I'm sad not everyone sees it that way. We seem to live more and more in a culture where people are just waiting to be offended by something (as well as playing on a server with a petition culture), which is why comedy/satire is even more important.

If it got you upset at the time it happened I apologize. If it got you upset only now after reading this thread then you're offended by something that's already been dealt with and "put right".

What's that name again ?

The one that would have been seen by people on the server was Gangerbanger. Back when I made the character I was having a difficult time being creative that day, so I plugged that in while trying to come up with something. The name filters did not catch it so I just decided to roll with it.

The others were, which have not been played in years:
Jewid - level 3 druid, made in jest years ago and never played. Deleted now
Mulebitch - level 1 I believe, made in jest years ago and never played. Deleted now
Wyte Pwr - 21 SK (human). I completely agree with this one being way over the line. In fact, when I started playing again I stripped this character and rerolled my SK in an attempt to keep people from seeing it. The plan was always to delete this character, I was just dragging my feet on it and got punished accordingly. He is deleted now.

I find those names awful. To step up, acknowledge that you did not think how the names could bother OTHERS is a really huge step in the right direction and proves that you do have a conscience.

You didn't say it was due to a bad upbringing, or it was due to your culture why you created such offensive names, you admitted the truth which was you made bad names!

We all make mistakes, and do bad things to other people, it's inevitable. The key is being able to admit when one is wrong, and acknowledge that the feelings and thoughts of others DO matter.

Honestly I can't blame the OP for this: after all the terrible names I've seen (and threads about how the staff doesn't care about terrible names), hearing that the staff didn't just change a name like "Gangerbanger", but actually banned a player for choosing it, was one of the biggest surprises in this thread for me.

Not saying that name or his other character names were ok (clearly they weren't), but just I can't blame OP for thinking he can get away with "Gangerbanger" when there are so many similarly trashy character names.

That's sort of my mentality too. I see tons of names that irk the hell out of me, but I won't petition them. I figure someone else will, and they do anyway. :p

These names are just annoying, not hurting anyone so this is why I choose to turn a blind eye to them.

Often times their opposing viewpoints can create a healthy pathway to viewing the other side of things even when it's not a genuine viewpoint held by the devil's advocate.
