Well, let's see. An aggro'd mob walking very slowly is snared, which means someone got to it first. Or it's running at full speed instead of doing its normal strut for pathing, which means someone got it first. Or it's just standing in place even after you attack it with a spell or something, which means it's rooted, thus someone got to it before you.

Anyone mind clearing up how someone could attack a mob and not reasonably know that someone else got to it first? I'm just curious.

Okay, I'll actually buy this explanation. It's you and your friend as well as this other unknown player saw the AC at the exact same time, the unknown used a skipping stone, arrow, or similar impossible to see (at night) ranged attack only moments before your own attack, and then the unknown player thought to himself...
"Well, that guy's in trouble now! Time to burn him with a report and I'll get the ring without having to do any of the fighting. Awesome!"

Blue is a strange server with odd people on it. I wouldn't discount anything like the above happening.

This is where you dispute comes in. You had FTE loud and clear by a mile. In that 6 second window before your first DoT tick hit, the necro obviously landed a spell on a 100% HP mob thinking it was his. I know Slowdive to be a loot hungry rager ignorant new player and this petition does not surprise me in the least. If it's any consolation you're innocent and shouldn't have been suspended. Hope you get it overturned and your ring back. Did you appeal suspension?

I'll just use my newfound knowledge to report players I simply don't like to get them a 30 day ban since no investigation happens. This happens and my biggest problem with petitions is sometimes only one side of the story is heard, via the petitioner.

Not only that, but the gavel is thrown down hard on top of it. Some context is good to hear from both sides, not just the one that sends in a petition.

Strange. Looking at the log, I'd hazard a guess that the GM in question looked up the mob in question for the appropriate time related to the petition, and looked to see the flags for last target that picked up initial aggro and the time stamp, and the person granted ownership of the corpse with the killing damage. Considering the age of this server, the raid scene being what it is, and the sheer volume of bullshit that they've had to wade through, all of the above is probably a part of their logs.

The issue I'm seeing here is the entire "did the players attempt to resolve this issue themselves" portion was skipped in the review, possibly. Did you attempt to speak with Slowdiver? Did Slowdiver make an attempt to speak with you? Because if the chat logs for both of your characters showed no attempt with tells, OOC, or anything, it paints a picture that Slowdiver said "fuckit" and went for the Petition as the first tool for resolving it. Which goes entirely against what the staff states they'd prefer players to do.

If NOTHING has been hidden from this involving the log, then you got screwed hardcore.

I'm sure the combat logged was checked and it did show OP "KS'd". It is in quotes because this definition is "first to engage based on the combat log". That is all that is available to staff.

The reason it's taking longer than expected...only certain staff can log on a character to delete the item, and log onto another character and create the item. That staff member is overworked.

So I'm suspect a staff member that is not able to log on your character received the petition, suspended the account, and put it in line for GM assistance.

OP has a history of KSing incidents), but they don't want to set a precedent of answering people's petition complaints publicly. If that's the case OP probably knows too and has just left out that relevant fact ...

I left the place I was staying at, which was a cool spot with some friends I had met, soon to be non friends - had my old man mail my my desktop computer and got strung out on pizza and weed and evicted in like three weeks lol. That's my worst strung out rock bottom tale, my whole life, honestly. I don't think mines that bad. :) EQ was my crack, haha.

I shit you not, I would let like 6-7 boxes accumulate and then, sneak outside at night and put them in this area near the laundry room. When it got to a stack of 20, I placed them by the neighbors trash can. I was promptly evicted the next day. eq, its all your fault, all ..your...fault

By the looks of the log, there was about 45 seconds between when the OP zoned into SRo and engaging and he and his friend were the only two in zone when he zoned in. So apparently in those 45 seconds Slowdive zoned in, found AC and beat him to the FTE. I suppose it is not impossible but his spell casting in that log starts well after Maldarian had engaged. And yes, even that can be explained, but seems to me that at best it was a case of engaging mere milliseconds apart.

Sounds like a bullshit call on the GMs part.
