I'd invest in obesity control organizations and meal replacements. It's all going to get subsidized in a huxlian dystopic nightmare were weak willed sheeppl who can't do it themselves are indentured as sex slaves for health care life extension and weight loss. Anyone who doesn't get with the program on their own or via this new age slavery for social media fun points will be stuck at the bottom. Bitcoinless.

The coin will of course be worthless but the early adopters will get vast autistic amounts of it because why not

I drove a Lambo once, on a race track. I found it very overrated. Basically you have to be a racing driver to do anything with it worth talking about.

One frustrating experience. You're basically lying down in the car (being 6ft something tall, getting in there alone wasn't fun), you're strapped in like a mofo, your field of view is quite narrow (remember - lying down) so you just look ahead.

The slightest attempt at touching the gas pedal projects you forward brutally and you find yourself approaching the turn really quickly, at which point you have to figure out a plan soon because that car doesn't drive like your regular Toyota.

And then you try the brakes and it's like hitting a freaking wall. It just stops the car right there - you figure that being strapped isn't so bad after all.

Then you realize you never got past the 2nd gear...

I'll take a good old fashioned japanese racing bike over that any day.

Considering most people who bought in bitcoin had some level of a compulsion problem, and most people with compulsion problems are prone to exaggerating/hyperbole.

You could probably boil this down to a few thousand dollars of actual real world profit.

mtg reserved list cards are a far safer investment, and proper buy-outs can generate large returns though increasing popularity of the older formats in Asia is making prices grow even without them

then again I posted this 3 years ago when tabernacle was 350$, these days its about 2000$

https://www.cardmarket.com/en/Magic/Products/Singles/Legends/The+Tabernacle+at+Pendrell+Vale

i have a near mint italian one that i'll sell for 1600$ish btw

https://www.cardmarket.com/en/Magic/Products/Singles/Legends+Italian/The+Tabernacle+at+Pendrell+Vale

the liquidity on foreign reserved list cards that are played competitively is quite high, since they are basically a cheaper version that still allows people to compete

I've known about cryptocurrency for the past 15 years but was always too scared to get involved, so not a new topic for me!

I've been involved with BTC since January, and missed a few good buy in and sell spots. Riding the waves and gonna move my coins when it gets back north of 12k.

I'm up about EUR 25k for July alone, in pure fiat coming from crypto, not taking countless accumulated altcoins into account (most of which are/will be worth nothing anyway). Granted, not Lambo level by any means.

There's a lot of money to be made in crypto if you can take it really seriously and constantly try to improve your revenue streams and find new ones. Doesn't mix well with posting on this forum every day (and even less with actually playing EQ).

I SERIOUSLY doubt you're making 25k Euros a month through mining.

Only around $7k USD mining, that's after expenses and subject to a lot variance due to market fluctuation and evolving network difficulties. August is going to be great, september probably not so much.

I'm not sure why you say making 25k euros / months through mining is hard to believe. There's a ton of people who make that or orders of magnitude more. You just don't know them. They usually keep as low profile as possible for a variety of reasons, not to mention many higher-profile miners outsource the actual hardware to countries with low labor and energy costs, like Georgia or Romania, so it's not like they have their 50 kilowatt farms in their basements.

It's only a matter of being on top of your game, and when it comes to mining it's 90% about properly planning and TIMING your hardware purchases / sales. This stuff takes time to learn, and trial and error to get good at.

I dumped like 20x 1070 GPUs to a guy (in France) the other day who is 23 years old. He has been mining since 2014 (bitcoin and ether, now mostly zec/zen and some ether I think). He's sitting on a cool 20-30 million euros in crypto and fiat.

Matter of fact, he's so young and so naive, he sold about 900k euros worth of crypto last november, and simply... wired the proceeds to his very regular french bank account. Needless to say, the wire triggered every possible red flag, the french anti-money laundering authorities seized the money and he only got it back about a month ago after a mountain of paperwork, explanations and paying 62% tax on it. The french mining chat rooms are still laughing.

Sorry dude, you cannot make 25k or even 7k Euro a month with 20x 1070s. That's impossible today.

this is very very true, and until a secure crypto is released by a real financial institution none of them will have any real value

sure some people got rich, but they got rich on the stupidity of others ( when someone is willing to buy something out of their own free will for more then you paid for it )

this can be said of anything, from real collectible coins to classic cars

Crypto is going to rebound and it's going to rebound hard.

This is the first time in the history of the mankind that a world-wide, reliable payment system has been built which is not controlled by banks or governments. The currency is liquid and convertible into any fiat money and protected by top notch cryptography. It's here to stay.

Look at gold. Everyone agrees gold is a great store of value. Yet, the total end supply of it is unknown, it's tricky to buy, keep safe, sell, transfer, travel with, etc etc. Bitcoin's total end supply is known, it's easy to transfer to anyone in the world in a few minutes.

Crypto is the future of money.

Crypto is the future of money.

It isn't reliable at all, it was independently launched by some Japanese guy who masterminded a giant scam, god knows what he made.

I am pro crypto , but all these shitter coins are only worth what others are willing to pay for them, basically they have no value ( At all )

None of those will rebound and you should sell whatever you have for whatever you can get.

Should a similar coin launch from a real government or bank it will take off I will agree.

Those forms of money payment have nothing to do with Crypto. The point of Crypto is to avoid currency manipulation by government. They can print more money which will devalue what you have. The US does this but not to the extent you see it in some countries where the value of their currency goes down 10% a year. Whether or not you think Crypto does a good job at this or not is one discussion, but paypal just sends something like USD from one person to another. You are completely missing the point.

Why do bitcoins have to be mined in the first place? Such a wierd concept for a modern currency.

Practically the the only reason why the USD loses value is because more of it is printed every year.

Almost every other force at work (global reserve currency usage, GDP growth, trade deficits, loans etc.) causes the value of US currency to increase.

And all worth zero outside the Doge slumber party clan.

Not really. It can be traded to bitcoin in minutes, which in turn can be swapped to very real USD, EUR or other fiat money with minimal fees.

There are debit cards that can be credited directly with bitcoin or other crypto and then you just use the card in your everyday life like any other card.
Example: https://www.epayments.com
I've been constantly using it for the last year with zero problems.

Sorry you're overdrawn.

I have other income sources but use bitcoin or bitcoin cards in place of my regular bank cards whenever possible for one simple reason - you can move money from bank to crypto easily but the other way around is a royal pain in the ass. So I spend crypto as much as possible unless I can't, ie: pay taxes or mortgage etc.

https://bitcoinexchangeguide.com/deadcoins/

There's an enormous amount of scams in crypto. Fake ass coins are just a smallish part of it.

I think like 90%+ of scammers are from Ukraine and Russia. Dunno why but every time I end up having a conversation with someone trying to scam me (it can be fun sometimes), they usually end up being from there. Some of them are really good. I have no doubt they make a lot of money.

A small amount of them also being from India but they are usually so laughably bad at scamming I usually just feel embarrassed for them.

Never use bank cards get a credit card.

giving people direct access to the money in your bank is hilarious, then again only poor people who have a credit score in the 400s do it and you probably have nothing in the bank

Nevermind actually.

One thing crypto is awesome for is meeting new people. I'll be posting some of the encounters here every once in a while.

https://i.imgur.com/7QXpCzk.jpg

At the end, I actually called them and incredibly enough, they answered. Obviously a dude trying to speak in a higher pitch, with a thick African accent, pretending to be Clara. Tried to pretend he was from Uganda, then from South Africa, then when I said I want to meet him because I go to Angola soon he said something like "I have no time for that, we do business here!" and hung the phone.

https://www.recode.net/2018/4/24/17275202/bitcoin-scam-cryptocurrency-mining-pump-dump-fraud-ico-value

Bitcoin is the greatest scam in history

it’s a colossal pump-and-dump scheme, the likes of which the world has never seen. In a pump-and-dump game, promoters “pump” up the price of a security creating a speculative frenzy, then “dump” some of their holdings at artificially high prices. And some cryptocurrencies are pure frauds. Ernst & Young estimates that 10 percent of the money raised for initial coin offerings has been stolen.

The losers are ill-informed buyers caught up in the spiral of greed. The result is a massive transfer of wealth from ordinary families to internet promoters. And “massive” is a massive understatement — 1,500 different cryptocurrencies now register over $300 billion of “value.”

It helps to understand that a bitcoin has no value at all.

A bitcoin has no intrinsic value. It only has value if people think other people will buy it for a higher price — the Greater Fool theory.

Way too many Initial Coin Offerings are scams — 418 of the 902 ICOs in 2017 have already failed.

Transferring $100 from one person to another costs about $6 using a cryptocurrency exchange, and well less than $1 using an electronic check.

Bitcoin is absurdly wasteful of natural resources. Because it is so compute-intensive, it takes as much electricity to create a single bitcoin — a process called “mining” — as it does to power an average American household for two years. If bitcoin were used for a large portion of the world’s commerce (which won’t happen), it would consume a very large portion of the world’s electricity, diverting scarce power from useful purposes.

Promoters claim cryptocurrency is valuable as (1) a means of payment, (2) a store of value and/or (3) a thing in itself. None of these claims are true.

Not sure how to respond to this tbh as it's not a very intelligent statement --- an Apple share is completely different to a bitcoin, excuse the pun but it's apples and oranges my dude. Also one's real, one isn't.

So after I spend real world $ to farm (equipment and energy) some fake $ I have to drive to a specialist kiosk/atm which all would have varing exchange rates which I would have to check every day similarly to an currency exhange rate....and where I lose out on a percentage of my fake $ each time I get real world $ just so I can go buy some bread and milk from my local shop.

Right thanks.

I might just skip all that BS and go with the real job and spend real money any time I wish scenario.

But seriously, if someone bought $10,000 of them and it went up 10%, it would be $11,000. Even though each one is small, it still matters if it grows (or shrinks). Right?

Correct, % fluctuation is all that matters. By Tomato's logic the US dollar is worthless because of how cheap it is compared to one bitcoin. No one believes this because it isn't true.
