Wife old Win XP system gave up after many years.
Sooo.. I bought her a brand new laptop (she wanted the laptop this time instead of a desktop)

This is what it is:
Intel Core i3
4 gig DDR3
500gig HD SATA
Win 7 64 bit home
NVidia Geforce 440 w/1gig of DDR3 dedicated memory
Dell
pritty nice laptop..

I didn't think it would have any problems considering I run mine on my new desktop from dell with Win 7 64 Pro with no problems what so ever.
Difference between my system and hers is mine has an AMD phenon quad core and a Radeon Video Card instead of an Nvida (still didn't think that would make a difference.

I get her up and running though and this is the problem.
Some sort of graphics pixel glitching. I can get in the game and everything. Doesn't look like there are any of the dual/quad core problems. No char sliding or speeding / warping or anything. Graphics are just... twitching really bad. Make it hard to see clearly any text or anything. It just bad enough to where it makes it hard to play at all.

I noticed it had DirX 11.. Went to microsoft and installed DirX SDK with previous versions of DirX because I know you have to have like DirX 9.0 in order to run EQ. Didn't work. I notice for some reason I can't do the compatability to like Win XP or Win 98 or 95... I get a memory error when I do ( I read after many hours searching that the new Intel chips can't visualize so you get a memory error when you try to change the compatability) ... I'm stumped at this point.
Help plz?
I would love to play EQ again with my wife and can't aford just to get another system. Anyone heard of this or can help?
Thanks

hmm, well dx11 has the dx9 properties in it I am sure. The dx11 is only used on games that need it. I have a brand new comp with dx11 and it works fine for EQ. Have you updated your gforce drivers? (the mobility version) and if so, have you tried running eq with the stock drivers that came with the computer? I found when I updated my radeon drivers I had to do a lot of crap to get several of my games to work correctly (not eq) (updating vbios, ect.) As for the running as administrator, on windows 7 mine works correctly and I can run anything in administrator mode. You mite want to go through your settings and make sure it is set up correctly.

Check the graphics drivers. If there isn't an updated driver from Dell themselves, then go to Nvidia directly and try to get an updated driver from there. If that doesn't work, then try some other drivers...

This site has tweaked drivers that get you great visual quality as well as increased speed on most games. I usually use these and they seem to work great for me on almost every game I play. Just make sure to get the mobile Nvidia drivers, rather than the regular ones, if you pick them up from here.

Try setting your affinity even if you think it's not a multi-core issue. Doing this clears up more issues than just char sliding, warping, etc.

Setting your CoreAffinity shouldn't make any difference to your graphics.
