Figured we could use a happy thread in here for now. What are some of your fav moments from this server? Hoping this could maybe motivate me to take the plunge past lvl 20 as I'm finally starting to accept that my duo buddy that I started with isn't coming back.

I have 4 level 20's so my experience is very limited but I do have one huge moment that stood out. My bro and I were on our first toons, maybe lvl 10-12 Druid and SK. We were heading out to check on derv camps in North Ro when a super nice lady stopped us. She could tell we were fresh off the boat from the way we looked. She stopped us and asked about being new and informed us that we looked cute. She then told us to wait a sec while she looked through what she had on her, offering anything she could to help us. I've always felt bad how we squandered the crazy start we had here.

After a few moments she told us that she didn't really have anything on her for a dru or SK. It didn't matter, she went all in on the hook up anyway. She then handed me a Stave of Shielding and a bard weapon that I can't remember the name of. The bard weapon was worth around 750-1k at the time. I sold it and bought me and my buddy some random pieces under 100p. I used the Stave for while before selling it, so I could get some gear on a necro. Oddly enough, my duo bro won a twitch giveaway some guy did for plat to people in his stream, like 3k plat lol.

What a crazy start we had for 2 new players. He had never played the game before and I only really played in middle school, think my max was a lvl 30 range SK that never left the zones close to Cabilis.

Back in April, when I was an app to Awakened, we were raiding Avatar of War. One of my first big raids!

Right away, it was pretty awesome to see all the raid charmers with their 10+ charmed giant and wolf pets ready to go. I had charmed a dire wolf. I felt pretty swagger with my hasted 244-hitting murderwolf, rocking my Crystal Chitin armor. We might've killed Vindi before AoW was pulled, which, if you haven't seen it, well, looks kind of comical as he comes running with this slightly-too-fast-but-not-too-jarringly run animation. This, I thought, was some good EverQuesting.

Everything went surprisingly smoothly for the first 80% or so of AoW's HP. These guys know what they're doing! I was very happy I had no charm breaks. Then, our MT unexpectedly died. Speedbump, followed by another tank dying. 5% later, all tanks were dead. DPS were dropping like flies. With 15% HP still left on the Avatar, I was 100% sure we were dead anyway, so I pressed the button you're not supposed to press. I really just wanted to buy time for clerics to get out.

"Taunting attackers as normal, Master."

I don't know whether I was more surprised that it seemed to have worked, or that our clerics, rather than camping out defeated, rolled the CH chain on my wolf, but when the last melee died, Tank Wolf rose to the occasion and took aggro on the Avatar. The chain rolled on. Sweeni, I think, ordered everyone who wasn't a charmer or healer to suicide themselves eating a round to ensure the wolf would live. People dumped Reaper and Soulfire charges. No one was camping. The Avatar of War was, somehow, still going down. I was dumbstruck, but it was working.

It was intense and absurd. As AoW's HP kept dropping, I thought, what an incredible and hilarious recovery. Honestly, I don't really remember what I did after clicking pet taunt besides chain Nature's Touch and hope really, really hard that my charm would keep holding. It did! We killed him! Man I was stoked, for about, thirty seconds. That was when Tank Wolf, still below 95% HP and apparently revealing itself as the Avatar of Mischief, proceeded to break its charm, summon and straight up murder me.

Praise Bristlebane. :o

Finally completing my Monk epic 15 years after I started it was a very touching moment in my EQ playtime.

However Velious launch on P99 was my favorite moment. I was not stuck in Kunark for 7 years like some people and from the time I started playing on P99 to Velious release felt very 'classic' to me. Plus that was when <Asgard> was at the height of its power (before merging into Aftermath) and BDA hating was at an all-time high. I also had the power of Wu'Tang during this era of P99. Fatnar put an end to that though, now I don't even log on my monk because the pain is real =(

The Somethingjoe and EC Commonlands Hacker event

that was a weird saga

A top ten moment for me ( hard to remember them all ) had to be when Lady Vox triple spawned on top of us. We killed our Class R rotation Vox then BOOM the FFA Vox repopped instantly on top of us. So we killed her too! However, ANOTHER one spawned and well, we kinda ran out of gas after 2 Vox in a row and we were only a bunch of lvl 52s. She got the best of us as well as being Class C ( no touchy!), still though, 2 Vox in a row is very impressive!

Good times

Back when they allowed Gambling in EC tunnel, a guy was offering his Fungi Tunic and Cloak of Flames as a prize if you can roll a 777 or 666 out of a 1000. The Bet was 1k for 10 rolls and I was 15k in at this point But i knew i was gonna win soon. Issue was i was on my last 6k so I came up with a plan. I zoned into Nro and Spammed my /random 1000 like 50 times and half way thru I fcked up and rolled a 777....

My heart dropped....

My plan backfired and now what do I do...

Well I came this far not to give up so might as well break the bank trying. So I zoned back over gave him 2k and asked for 20 rolls...
/random 1000 spammed, People cheering me on in ooc and shout, the anticipation of my soon defeat

5am batphone goes off for Trak, I log in as I was camped on the ledge and offered up being an anchor for a mage because as a druid I could evac to the entrance but there are no mages online yet. TMO has maybe 10-15, TR gets to about 25-30. Zeelot sees that TR is mobilizing betters and tries an interesting trick. TR monk engages Trak and Zeelot laughing over ventrilo tells us all to log off. Seeing that TR has more people but not the right combination Zee does an interesting thing. Zee unequips his bow and re-equips his bow so the graphic of the bow appears in his hand. We take it the TR monk thinks that Zee tried to shot an arrow but wasn't in range and the TR monk ran in and got FTE. TR wipes, TMO sweeps in, like 2 druid BPs or something terrible but it was a funny that he tricked TR into engaging off of the bow graphic.

It has been awhile but I still enjoy running up to newbs in places like the Oasis with the skeleton illusion from my AoN and making them think I am a Dry Bones. Then offer them an invite and buff them with group DS and PotG. I have done this with people running twitch streams and port over to Kurns or Unrest and get fun reactions. Oh no there is a skeleton with no name above its head,RUN!!! oh wait it is just some druid buffing us, THANKS!!!

Chance to win 2/1001 rolls.

Chance to lose 999/1001 rolls

Value of win: 150k

Value of loss: 100pp (10 rolls cost 1k, each roll costs 1000/10=100pp)

Weigh value against chance:

Win 150000*2/1001 = 300000/1001
lose -100*999/1001 = -99900/1001

Expected win= (300k-99900)/1001 = 199plat and 9 gold won per roll

Was this casino just a RMT cover because its business model is to lose 200p every roll by law of averages.

The most fun I've had on p99 was when Uthgaard unexpectedly flagged hateplane for pvp instead of dealing with the shitshow of having every raiding guild on the server going after Innoruuk at the same time and petitioning each other.

My shitty guild teamed up with some other shitty guild (I think they were called TMO) and we beat the piss out of whatever the top guild was back then.

I'll never forget popping a stun-> blind -> stun combo on a bard who thought he was getting away then seeing the pack of hounds that were on his tail come around the corner and rip him to shreds.

Nothing else has ever come close. It's all been downhill since then.

One of my favorite drunken moments on blue (prior to red launch) was training Sand Giants to the docks. Upon Loading... Please Wait an angry mob surrounded my corpse after Amelinda rez'd me and gave me a very stern talking to and a light ban sentence in front of the crowd.

Justice was served.

In Lower Guk my enchanter, then 47 was invited to join the Frenzy group. It was a holiday weekend with an XP bonus going.

When I joined the group it was around 8 in the evening. We were trying to get this ranger a FBSS. We tried, and we tried, and we tried. Ranger tank, Druid healer, enchanter and whoever cycled through all night.

We balanced on the knife-edge of wiping all night long. Did I mention ranger tank and druid healer? It was a blast. I left at around 7AM and level 49.

The sash never dropped.

Classic as shit.

For me it has always been the raid encounters you shouldn't have won.

Less than 20 IB engaging and killing Trak while like 50+ TMO watched.
IB dive bombing server first Yael while Ascension (or whatever they were called) watched.
23 FE getting their first VP kill against a 60 man TMO raid back when VP was the wild west

With that last one, TMO was clearly the dominant guild and had been kicking our asses all over VP for months, but that totally made finally getting the kill feel more rewarding.

I also miss aspects of the old socking days. I made a ton of friends in IB when I was in DA because we'd just BS with each other while bored. Learned languages with Bossco, Mellyn, and a bunch of people while crammed into the old safe spot in the PoF fire wall with like 80 other characters waiting for CT to spawn. DA used to do a lot of video chats and browser games while socking, and one night we invited IB folks in and had like 30 people between the two guilds playing pictionary while socking CT. For those of us who just liked friendly competition and didn't buy into the whole guild drama, the raid scene had a pretty awesome sense of community back then.

I think classic raiding here on the whole might be my favorite memory on p99. Raids were smaller, strategies were less developed, rules were less restricting, and most people were pretty awesome.

Watching that Epic'd shaman troll in EC tunnels asking for a "Gate", only to kill every poor sap that accepted his duel request, get absolutely shit on by a staff member, accompanied with a ban that was just long enough to eat his corpse.

He was obnoxious, rude, and it was the most poetic justice I've ever seen.

And I still grin when I think about it.

I will take a moment to tell one of my fondest memories.

The Toon: Mellisandre Redwitch Low 20's Enchanter
The Place: HHK Goblins With Osargen Charmed

The story: So I was on my Enchanter equipped with a set of Thurg clickie armor. I wanted to go have some fun in HHK so I stopped by the bank and Grabbed a full set of Bronze armor, ran into the jail and Charmed Osargen. Hooked him up with a full visible set and some weapons, then proceeded to head down to goblins and start clicking Clarity on everyone while I waited for an invite. I quickly got an invite and everyone started commenting on how OP/cool Osargen was. I had to take my first Bio and asked the group to kill him so i could look my equipment. Upon looting all the bronze armor people in the group start commenting about how crazy it was that Osargen had so much loot. With a grin and chuckle, I re charmed Osargen and loaded him up with about 10 Left Goblin Ears. I patiently passed some time while calmly talking up Osargen and his epic Rog back stab damage in group. I prepared for my next "AFK" and told the group to kill him. Upon killing him and looting the 10 goblin ears, everyone in the group freaked out! 'OMG THAT'S WHY WE HAVENT BEEN GETTING ANY EARS" Continued for several hours convincing people Osargen could pick pocket. Much to the panic and dismay of my PuG. Gave me many laughs and funny moment while i got to 30 !

Getting the CT SK epic piece.

Was in BDA, IB and VD had left the server so BDA was the only contending raid guild to TMO's half a year free farming era. Staff had made new rules at the time that you couldn't kite the zone around anymore and had to just take the adds that came as you engaged CT, which forced both raids to clear much of the zone before engaging (TMO cried to have this rule taken away after losing one CT lol). TMO was zerging it up to 11 with their feeder guild Enraptured, pulling like 120 players total. 32k hp mob, they each needed to do like 300-400 damage. But their own zerg size bit them in the ass and they desynced their entire raid due to too many bodies, wiping to CT and some dozens of adds. BDA picked up the pieces, killed CT, double soul leech, good times happy days. Think an erudite SK got the other one, hurl.

It was prty awesome, wish red was rebooted. Classic is where it's at.
Recall good times where our Oasis grp started talking how a guy in orc group looted everything earlier that day then took off with the money without splitting, so we just dropped the gator farming and ran there to kill the orc group.

Kiting an ice burrower around for the last 30% of an ayilish kill, tossing out run-by torpors to my monk buddy so he could finally get a +6 neck. It all ended with him looting/flopping, and me agroing sontalek as I ran down the canyon to leash the burrower. Ditched that plan and hauled ass to DN, was one helluva train by the time I got there, but I lived and my buddy got his loot so I was happy.

that makes me wonder, what's the best way to gain faction on a character too low level to actually do the normal hunting and killing grind? so that you can just buy an MQ? thurg armor isn't that expensive to MQ usually is it? I wonder why I never thought of this before.

For me i knew I was going to do it from the beginning. So at level 10 I loaded up with sow pot's and invisibility and started my journey from Ice Clad Ocean. I simply casted a low level DOT on giants outside of the Kael/Wakening Land zone line while other people killed it. I also followed a few raid forces, some being my own guild from the zone in of Kael up to Arena and Tagged some Vindi and AoW faction points. Took me about 3 days of a few hour sessions to get the faction, but I ran around since level 12 with Clarity. Cleric is by far the funnest class to do this with as the pants Group Heal is just insane from level 10-40.
