I was looking for a thread to just ask a question about an item, but I couldn't find one. I thought I could start one for anyone who has questions about a particular item, they could just post here ....

I found the Innothule Mushroom in the swamp, and I have no idea what it is for. Can someone help me out ? P99 Wiki has no info about it. EQTraders has 3 brewing recipes, but I believe they are post-Velious and don't apply to P99

Probably nothing. There's so many items in classic that have no use whatsoever.

Which was one of the beautiful things about classic eq. So much stuff out there, some random some not. Prior to extensive online compiled resources, there was a lot of blind trial and error and word of mouth that made the world seem much bigger.

Because the boot replaces the bottle/shotglass/cask.

That's not an EQ mystery...that's a bug. There are some issues with the display colors for the innothule mushrooms and swamp veggies. Not sure if the dev working on it has figured it out yet.

How would you know this.

The foot and toe fungi that collect and grow inside the boot provide yeast foir the fermentation process...and some of the flavor.

...but that's nothing. Back in Everfrost, we used to eat the stomach contents of caribou. Sometimes that was the only way to get edible moss and lichens. Try that one sometime...

The best things in EQ, just like in life, have no stats: Fire beetle eyes: Never leave home without em. Happy love bracers: Everyone's favorite bracers. Whore's bane: Self explanatory. Fireworks: oooo ahhhhh. The frozen goblin king in permafrost: May his throne never melt. And of course boot beer

few things off the top of my head...

Stick it down a high elf's pants

sell it to a hippie wood elf

make a mushroom stew and sell it to a troll

brew beer out of it

claim that a patch is coming out with a mushroom quest and auction it in EC for 50k

You left out the goblin banker and goblin bartender down in Runnyeye, they both way more interesting than permafrost's goblin king.

Innothule therefore troll related. I imagine Trolls would harvest these or eat them in times of desperation. In the Everquest Lore trolls are known to eat just about anything... Even each other. So it's no surprise they'd munch on some fungi growing around their home former Guk. (guk use to be the troll city) and now grobb. :)

In addition to the blog linked to in my sig, I've also recently been filling the wiki with info on every bar and tavern in the game, including many obscure ones! A set of bars in enemy zones such as Runnyeye is next up on my to-do list:
https://wiki.project1999.com/Taverns

Back in 2011 I also built out a section of the wiki documenting the "Poker Paintings" found in a handful of Norrath taverns:

ha that's neat, I always am amused by the Runnyeye goblin town such a funny place to visit. The bar, bank, everything they got down there it's funny the devs put that much detail into it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one taking the time to truly look around and enjoy the EQ world. There is so much to see, especially off the beaten paths.

Boot Beer sounds delicious, by the way.

Don't forget the bar down in The Hole. There's an elemental standing behind the bar and everything, though I don't think it's a functional vendor.

Nope not functional. I wish they made them work for bells faction. Would have been neat.
