Couple DOT questions

Just a couple questions I've thought about now as a newb SHM...

Do shaman dots stack with other shamans/necros/etc?

Is there any way to turn on chat messages so that my DOT damage shows up and/or give me a message when the DOT wears off?

Yes, yes, and yes.

It's under the Filter options.

Any dot without a debuff effect stacks. For example, the lvl3 and lvl18 bard dots have an -AC modifier, meaning they don't stack. So a shaman and necro won't have any troubles at all stacking their shit together.

The Damage Over Time components of the lvl 2 and 18 bard dots do stack. In fact, the lvl 2 one doesn't even have a -AC component

Are you sure you're not thinking of the lvl 48 dot?

Really? So two shamans are hunting - both are the same level, cast the same dot (sicken, for example's sake) - do both land and affect the target, or does it give the "your spell did not take hold" message?

Because i've been under the impression that the latter is the case.

Currently two players can stack the same DoT on the same mob, and the same player can also stack multiple DoTs from the same line on the same mob. However this isn't classic and will hopefully be fixed before Kunark launches, as per Uth:

Currently two players can stack the same DoT on the same mob, and the same player can also stack multiple DoTs from the same line on the same mob. However this isn't classic and will <s>hopefully</s> be fixed before Kunark launches

Are you sure you're not thinking of the lvl 48 dot?

My bad, what I meant is that the lvl2 and lvl18 dots do not stack with themselves - as long as they got different names, they always stack.

For some reason I cannot get the filter to show dot dmg (except for initial landing hit) and when it wears off.

I right clicked the chat box and did spells "ALL" to go into the chat window but nothing...
