View Full Version : Question concerning camps and planes

I played EQ years ago on Vallon Zek and leveled to the level cap during classic but never experienced the Planes. Curious ... how do planes work here, I mean ok say a super l33t guild clears hate. Can they hog the plane and keep doing it keeping other groups/guilds out? Is there a problem with groups/guilds hogging the planes? Whats the respawn of planes?

What about special camps that take groups to do? is there problems with single groups/guilds hogging certain camps? I was just curious because in the future I may want to form a guild of newer players like myself to experience the Planes for the first time. How could guilds like this compete with these guilds that hog the planes (if that is done)

just curious

8 hour respawn on plane mobs

Open to everybody. Not any 1 guild hogs it, you can almost always have the place to yourself, or share with 1 other guild.

Do you mean things like Freeti/FGs or raid mobs like Dragons? The former are usually done by groups of friend/guildies and can often be found open, but you may have to be quick about getting them. Raid mobs are usually "poop socked" meaning that they have a variance in their spawn time and guilds gunning for them will camp out a raidforce near their spawn, leave a tracker active in the zone they pop and batphone the raidforce to log in when the mob pops. Meaning they're usually dead within 30 minutes of them spawning.

Or camps like Frenzy and Ghoul lord who are just constantly camped but not by guilds, rather by people grouping

Watch the movie "Mad Max" then you'll get the gist of it.

"poop socked"

Poopsock is actually when 15+ people are actively at their keyboards, sitting on the spawn point, literally waiting for it to spawn, not even leaving to poop. A tracker with twitter doesn't really count as poopsocking.

That's BS you're saying you can't poopsock by yourself? Then wtf am I doing?

I'm not really sure the word has an actual definition according to any dictionary I've ever read, so I won't argue semantics but I will say that a lot of people don't see much of a difference and use the term to describe both events. :)

Yendor, what is the point of quoting the OP when replying in their thread?
