Ive been saving up some low end items to give away to new players, but I cant find any. Every low level I track and stalk ends up being a twinked alt. Was going to try and surprise someone with some items, but its been more difficult than I thought it would be
None of its worth much or anything at all, but most of it has some stats that could be nice for someone starting out. If any of the below items could be useful to you, reply or PM me. Everything is free
Items with Strength:
Dented Brass Mask (https://wiki.project1999.com/Dented_Brass_Mask)

Good places to go are Gfay. I've done a few give-always near Kelethin bank and over 20 fresh players have shown up to win prizes.

They exist, but they can be hard to find sometimes. One thing you can try is just asking in noobie zones, ie. /ooc anyone here new to the server? let me know if you have any questions.
Alternatively you can also do a "honey pot" auction, eg. WTS Adamantine Bo Stick 5p. Any alts will already have something better (plus their players will know the bo stick is a trash drop), but the truly new players with only 12 plat and a rusty stick to their name will want to buy it. When they try you can just give it to them, along with other gear, for free.
One other idea is to do quests. If you offer 100p to anyone who brings you a 10x spider legs in the next hour, most alts won't bother (and the ones that do are probably poor and could use a donation anyway), but to a truly new player 100p is a lot of plat so you'll see them killing every spider in sight to try and get it.

Thanks for the good suggestions, most of the above places mentioned I didnt try. Sometimes forget about them places on the far end of the world.. Halas, Qeynos, Surefall, etc.
I'll wait and see if anyone coming to the forums is interested in anything first

Sometimes I go to far off places like Utenan mentioned just to see if any lowbies want ports to WC to be around an easier leveling area.
I see many ungeared players in Gfay area, and less commonly players leveling in Everfrost. These usually are actual new players because most twinks leave Halas asap to find easier places to XP.

In my experience players in the Qeynos to Halas areas tend to be the newest in game.

I’m not a noob, necessarily, but I play super casually between a few characters. My highest correctly is a 22 Rogue. Looking at his equipment, you’d think he was a little twinked, but I just worked hard getting gear and playing the economy.
My point is that it’s relatively easy to get some gear as a lowbie, but the help you provide is definitely appreciated!

Seemed to be a lot of new people last year, not seeing it as much this year.
I also remember a lot of noob events, especially in Nektulos Forest for the DE's.

I'm new. Level 13 bard, named Felson, with rusty weapons and cloth armor. Anything conning blue totally wrecks me! :)
I think there are a few newer folk around the qeynos area just based on who I've randomly been grouping with. I gave someone a Jagged Pine Crook Staff after finishing the quest the other day. It was an upgrade to the cracked staff they were using.

They're all walking around in full fungi and carrying wurmslayer fighting over who gets the next deathfist belt.

I'm new as well. 18 Shaman and 14 Shadowknight. Someone gave my SK a few pieces of Flayed Skin, but other than that both my characters are new with only items I've bought and/or found.

A full set including the shoes will net you a myconid badge, although I rather use pegasus boots.

I'm new as of this week, lev 12 troll SK. I'm down for groups it's just been about 16 or 17 years since I was leveling a character from scratch, so I'm a bit lacking in current low level items and quests and spots to grind. I'm a quick rememberer though if you're patient. I'm down for pretty much anything. Except diaper play. Xeff

I think you're appropriate for the orc camps in EC, after that head over to Oasis of Marr for Crocs and Orc Highway. It's a fun time til around level 20.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've walked thru sro/oasis/nro a few times so far and I've never seen anybody at orc road or crocs. Not used to such a tiny (and twinked) low level playerbase... but I guess I did start a bit late :P
Mostly I just want to get to a level (30? 45? 50?) where I have the majority of my SK tools/spells and can do some pulling and soloing in risky areas. Low level SK is very one-sided and weak =/

You can solo now, it's not that much fun, even at my level. I spent a little time in Lavastorm in early teens soloing though that was fun. Even if youre not twinked, you spend enough time around and people will just give you gear. I've been handed or sold things really cheap too. I'm fnally just looting stuff now that I can actually equip as good gear.
My best advice though is enjoy the lower levels. When I re-started again a year ago I had a blast grouping in EC and Oasis. It seems like the 20's are really just a rush to get to the 30's. I'm pretty much just going through now so I can get my spells at 30, then I'm gonna spend good time in Kunark.
I'm lucky to get on a few hours a week though, so my progress is very slow. And Summer I barely played. But I like it because Im enjoying the game, Im not rushing to get all these characters to 60 or farming a spot for days. Just killing some stuff, making some loot every now and again.

The new guys are out there. Sometimes they are hard to spot! I recently started again fresh account lost my info on the last, with a rl bud. By the time we made it to ec and scrounging plat. We had an I'll run in with some one who was giving us crap for begging. We were not just looking for cheap super low items to get a little leg up. In a top heavy server you'd think there was some to be had. We explained it to him and he apologized and hooked it up with 1500 plat! Now we have a major leg up and are easily duo in befallen. We are clr pld. It's amazing that the community on this game retains its play nice. I play a lot of final fantasy 14. Ironically on the same server as mellyn. It's nothing but salt and low tolerance towards people learning. It's discouraging at times. It refreshing to go back to something were people are nice , willing to lend a hand and not selfishly throw salt your way cuz your not helping then in any way. My hats off to all you old timers it's good to be back.
