Anyone else having zoning/login instability?

Maybe it's just me but seems like over the last week my eq (p99) tends to completely flake out when zoning, logging in, or character swapping. My internet connection works during said episodes ... and it only happens when zoning or entering the world.

It's happened to me 6x now in the last 3 hours along with a similar frequency yesterday and the day before.

I had similar issue for a few weeks, it was solved by using a free VPN like Cyberghost until the issue went away.

Disable loading animations. Stop streams / other bandwidth use while loading. I had the same thing where like 2/3 of zonings would DC, and doing this stuff helped me. I still get it but at least now its like 1/10? lol.

Someone I talked to said they would just reinstall the whole game directory every time they started to see this happen.

Still happening a lot today but one tip I got was to try using a VPN ... if I do that it's stable.

I've had a lot of disconnects/crashes when zoning as well lately. I also routinely crash when I log off to try and switch characters or accounts (probably 3 out of 4 times that I camp out, I crash).

Can anyone explain why a VPN is the supposed magical fix to this?

Yeah, took a 6-8 month break and came back to intermittent packet loss down to 95%, everything stops updating client side as it slowly crawls down over ~5 seconds, people walk into walls, spells won't cast. It hit's 95% PL and reverts back every time to 100... fast forwarding everything and usually ending up in me being dead, happens randomly multiple times per hour in some cases, never gone LD yet with the "You have been disconnected message" it always self corrects. Also getting crashing when zoning or logging now too, EJ was particularly bad but it's indiscriminate and random as well. Only thing that has changed was updated spell files for the last server patch.

I'm getting this as well, took a break for a year-ish. Had a solid and stable game when I left, did a reinstall and now I crash every 2-10 zones. It's a fucking miracle if I don't crash every hour
