Who would win?

Willing to take all factors into consideration, including the existence of Horcruxes, Ring as Horcrux, use of Ring or use of Elder Wand, and use of dark armies.

Voldemort.

Sauron is a lot fucking easier to kill. The only reason Voldemort dies is because he kills himself...like 3 fucking times. Not to mention it took the most powerful wizard in the world decades hunting horcruxs.

What I really want to see is Grindelwald vs Dumbledore...ex gay lovers that are now mortal enemies.

i want to see dumbledore use crucio on you for saying that about sauron

wow you're vocabulary shaming me? that's incredible. This is really incredible.

usually when ppl vocabulary shame me it's because they think I am being an elitist and that i need to tone it back.

thank you!

Cecily

You use your big words as much as you want as long as you don't mind educating confused people. I never thought it was elitist, just unnecessary most of the time. It's better to speak plainly to a larger audience imho.

I think this is more in reference to Sauron in his prime (i.e. at the beginning of the Fellowship, if you're only referencing the movies). He was smashin' madda fakkas with dat mace and doin' some heavy shit. Even so, in his "eye form" he still had a ton of influence, manipulating Saruman and the Steward of Gondor.

I think the real question for this thread to ask is Voldemort vs. Saruman or Voldemort vs. Radagast or even Voldemort vs. Gandalf.

No reasonably good counter arguments were provided.

It is true that Voldemort and his posse of Death Eaters would have destroyed Sauron's army -- with both AoE magic and single kill spells. If Sauron somehow managed to club lord Voldemort to death (a laughable notion) -- he was far harder and less intuitive to actually kill. Where as all you have to do to finish Sauron is cut his ring off and walk your ass up to that volcano -- drop that piece of shit ring right in there.

Sauron is Classic...Voldemort is Luclin.

maskedmelon

think we neglecting the true power of Sauron in this here nerdscussion: the rings of power. sauron would have befriended voldemort since both is evil sperglords and he'd've gifted a ring of power to him, which would then make volde into sauron's pet.

would the armies of light have stood a chance against the combined powers of sauron and voldemort combined? would sauron have even bothered walking onto the battlefield? would there have even been a battlefield? could gandyelf have collected the stuffs he needed to battle voldemort? could harry have survived his first 10 years as a orphan in middle earth? would his halfling foster parents have succeeded in hiding him from hogwarts?

The only objection I have to this is that there’s basically 0 chance someone as power hungry as Voldemort would not be corrupted by the ring. I think he would definitely take it for himself and the cycle would continue.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Skarlorn is in fact semi-illiterate/retarded/on-the-spectrum so him reading children's books from the 90's is not as shocking as it should be.

Read 'The Stormlight Archives' by Brandon Sanderson, theres 3 books out currently of a planned 10 so its one of those that maybe will be finished in like 50 years. But the first 3 are all very very good

i'm sorry to say that i have read millions of high literature books which would truly make you feel shame if we were to battle, as currently are voldemort and sauron

Very good critical thinking!

5 points to hufflepuff

The funny thing that NO one has realized is that LotR is the pre-quel to Harry Potter. Sauron is Slythoring, Gandyelf Gryffindor, Elrond Ravenclaw, and Halfling Hufflepluff

together,, they build Hogwart. This is why

I actually did realize that: Spoiler alert

Gandalf IS Dumbledore.

We just lost cabin pressure.

Voldemort is just the latest Vilian. Soon Dumbledore the white will come back from the train station.
