Quake is a superb classic, d2 is a powerful drug.

This is actually one of the reasons I like P99. People are older and more mature now. sort of. :)
But yeah many of the ebolting casters and hally whacking dexxers are long gone. :(

Absolutely - my first MMO, though I quit right before EQ came out. I've been back on emu shards over the (many ugh) years.

My pal that was on P99 for the last 2 years, he has since taken a break and went to some free UO emu server. He has been gone for about 4 months now. :(

I was on UO for a while. After constant nerfs and I gave up on it. Then Everquest came around...

Played Ultima Online for years. When EQ came out I basically switched over immediately but I had a lot invested in UO so I kept up with things.

Great Lakes shard. Was in a few different guilds. ICE, KoS, Revere, SiN. I had a tower north of Vesper. I rolled with Lancelot, Ghandi, Sancho Panza, Reverend Jeff

I played on the oceanic server. Nothing like getting ganked 3 times in three locations using steadly crapper gear. To finally get ganked at moonglow graveyard trying to put together some bone armor. Good times

I read about UO as a young RPG lover. Didn’t have a PC but longed for a game like that. Got a PC Feb 1999. Rest is history.

similar. read about UO a lot during the 90's and then EQ was being promoted and the website and concept art looked sick. EQ was mostly successful because it was one of a few websites that actually looked good for the mid-90's era of shitty websites.

it pulled a lot of people in that way who hadn't really played any shitty MUDs or UO.

Yes. It was the first game I had played over the internet. AOL dial-up...lol. I still miss it and still remember the music. It was probably the best sandbox game I can think of.

CORP POR. The last words I would see before some murderer got me. Yeah I died a lot.

Only game to beat my EQ nostalgia would be my UO nostalgia.

The carebears and expansions killed UO, but in the beginning it was amazing.

That skill system instead of levels was fantastic and the full loot pvp was great. I loved the idea of the player supplied economy and having multiple armor sets in your bank ready go.

*note: Most of the in game footage is of the new 'enhanced' client not the original client or 2d client(which people still prefer).
