View Full Version : How would you level a Mage/Druid duo in Classic era?

I've never leveled in just classic before and I'm thinking about the new EQ TLP server.

How would you guys go about it? You more than anyone know the Classic/Kunark/Velious era so I would like to know your thoughts please.

Appreciate any tips and advice. Thank you. :)

Thats a pretty broad question.

Can you specify it a bit more?

Have you played before? How much do you know about leveling? Are you looking for very specific guide of Druid/Magi?

The wiki is LOADED with leveling guides, have you looked through those? What was missing?

I've read a lot on the wiki and I've played a fair bit on P99, but I haven't goofed around much in the Classic zones, instead focusing more on Kunark areas.

Wasn't looking for a detailed guide for the classes, more a search for opinions if people cared to share them.

Stuff like "I'd go here, then there, then there. Keep an eye out for x. Y can be good if you're able to handle it."

People often have little tips and tricks for leveling that can be extremely helpful that often don't get mentioned in guides because they're either overlooked or because they think everyone knows them.

I'm sorry for being so general, but general advice is kind of what I'm looking for. Does that make sense?

Once the Druid hits 14 start to charm.

Send pet at mob on both toons.

charm and pet attack to 50

a mage during classic? Just afk with your pet up and have it kill stuff for you giving you full exp. That's what they did during p99 classic.
50% exp penalty if pet did more dmg wasn't added till later.

ps. Don't get your hopes too high for those live progression servers..

I know they're VERY different from P99, but I need a fix until Green 99 happens (whenever that may be) and starting with a fresh economy is the thing that appeals to me the most. The krono stuff doesn't bother me.

TLP is so different than p99 asking for advice here is pointless. TLP mage pets nuke for like 300 at lvl 30 and the group xp bonus is too rediculous to ignore by duoing (no one, literally no one solos on TLP). The advice to level your combo? Go to unrest and lfg and get invited to a group in any of the 20 pickzones then chug an xp pot and get to lvl 50 in 2 days.

As the druid player, it would be nice to remind your magician friend to go sell whatever it's in his or her temporary bags before logging out. Always a bummer to lose everything, be a hero!

As an Erudite Magician with superior intelligence I know a trick to remember temp bags. It's possible to color color specific bags.
Open the bag you want to color.
Right click the background of that bag window.
Click Background > Texture
Click Background > Tint Color
Select a color or set a custom one and click accept.
:)

I find setting the Temp bag slots to a bright orange helps me remember the no rent.
(this works on any ui window that has those options)
