I remember during Kunark when I was leveling my Ranger, I went through a couple phases where profs were fun where I bought one of these things and then a few weeks later decided to sell it. Each time I remember it being an absolute pain in the ass to sell for like 3-4K. Now I’m seeing these things sell for like 15-18k....what happened during Velious that made these things so much more worthwhile?
Are people giving these to charmed pets or something for raids or what? I’m sure there’s a reason, I just don’t quite know what it is.

Enchanter's started being able to get pet items back when the pets were killed. With that said, even long after Enchanter's could get them back they were like 7-9k. It was one or two stupid people that drove from 7-9k to 15-18k overnight.

Are they actually being sold for those prices though? It's one thing to auction them at a high price but I don't think anyone is buying them for that. Kind of like HEB's being sold for 500k.

It's just stupid rare and a very cool pet weapon.
It's just like dawnfire, only an enjchanter is Going to pay 12k for an item like that

It's fake inflation. Same thing happening right now with Holgresh Elder Beads.
It was 2k for years and suddenly boutik started flipping them for 40k. Just go in HS and get your own, this economy is dummmb.

p99 has no traditional economy. It's all about perception.

It's a novelty pet toy. Whoever pays that much is demented.

I always thought Boutik = Schnickasaurus(sp?). Same broken English and constantly trying to manipulate the price of elder beads. He succeeded in more than doubling the price of Flint Dagger pretty much overnight so I guess never underestimate stupidity.

I sold one for 14. I just assumed rangers really like them.

Or a enchanter with more money than desire to do howling stones themselves...
And seeing as enchanter's are one of if not the best plat farming class...

its not supply and demand its the fact that this server has been farmed for plat for a decade and theres nowhere for that plat to go besides traded among different players

It's inflation AND supply and drmand. They still sold for several thousand 4+ years ago when they were basically unusable as pet weapons and there were even fewer 50+ rangers than there are today. Now they're more useful and more people know they're useful, but they're still a rare drop, and there's likely more plat floating around than before too.

Seen a lot of players try to sell it for thousands of plat.
Same with pre-nerf CoS and recently with Boutik's hilarious 550k price for HEBs.
Just because I sit on various characters doing WTS messages does not mean people are buying.
