Anyone have some numbers behind it?
Does exp penalty races / classes account in to how much they loose?
Does exp bonus? (Halfling) make a difference in exp lost?

You lose 10% of previous levels experience when you die
Dont have numbers, but this is the way I've always understood it

From what I've learned in my research in the library of Rivervale, every time you die, a pigeon arrives at Brad McQuaids house with an empty bit of paper tied to its leg. Brad snaps the pigeon's neck and then takes the paper and writes down a number. he eats the paper. He is then freed from his prison/house and allowed to wander naked through the forest following a trail of barbiturates. Analysts follow him and collect dung and pull the scraps of paper out of the dung and then the number which they interpret from this paper is the per cent of exp your character loses. Not very scaleable, but it works.
I'm ganna roll a halfling and have him kill himself a few times for this post

Simple enough... So essentially races / classes with exp penalty are penalized even further for dying as their levels require more exp, rather than being a tax on earned exp? I believe that's how it works
As the numerical value of their previous level will always be higher than a 0 penalty or bonus exp combo
This seems to make the most sense, and follows the whole "lose more xp in the level after a hell when you die" deal that lots of people complain about.
The best way to avoid this situation is abstinence from death. Otherwise, contact your nearest cleric for forgiveness.

It’s definitely not a straight 10% at 60. I’ve gone from 80-36% after 3 deaths...unless I was high and died 4 times..

Its an amount thats 10% of your previous levels experience.
Level 59 is double hell, so your taking 10% of that and applying it to level 60. If I recall, you lose around 17-18% xp at level 60

They said ten percent of your PREVIOUS level. Remember how 59 is huge? DOUBLE H E L L LEVEL! That is why the death penalty at sixty is so major.

Thanks pal! We can imagine the rest for ourselves, and I for one shall enjoy doing so. (Oh, btw, you forgot the apostrophe to signify possession rather than plural in "McQuaid's".)
