Can someone explain “Ring Roll”?

So I’ve been on server since it opened, have multiple 60’s but have never had a character I actually cared enough about to do long, arduous quests and camps until now (Paladins rock). That being said I have no idea what the ring roll I always hear about is referring to. What are people rolling on? Can someone explain a “ring war” and what the rolling is for....I’ve been searching the forums but don’t see anything with any real explanation

The "ring roll" is for the coldain ring #8 mini event in Eastern wastes. People roll to see who is going to get to do their quest that day (as the quest npc is a 24 hour respawn). The "ring war" is the final coldain ring #10 event in Great divide, in this event every mob in great divide despawns and Thurgadin is attacked by wave after wave of giants. The goal of this event is to kill all the giants before any can make it to Thurgadin.

ring 8 is 24 hour spawn for turn in to start event. everyone who is ready for turnin can show up 30 min before spawn and roll. high roll gets to do turnin.

Scout is still a roll as well.

I haven't been to scout since the rageclick days, but if that's being rolled for that is very cool and also quite anomalous.

It is completely fair to win the roll and pass it to a guildmate though, right? ;)

As someone who has lost this roll pretty damn close to 50 times in total , I don't think its 100% fair anymore !

It's definitely not pristine being bound by an honor system that can be abused by ninja turn-ins, ganking the Chief, monopolizing the roll, etc., but it's still fairer than any realistic alternative. It's fair enough, but it's more expedient than fair.

Not sure why dice just suck, its gotta be the snow. Never been a fan of snow
